Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: How To Romance Tifa

This guide will show you how to romance Tifa so that she becomes your date the Gold Saucer. To ensure that Tifa is the one that shows up to your hotel door, you have to perform specific tasks, such as choosing the correct dialogue options when prompted, completing select side quests, and doing well as the infantry leader in the Junon parade.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth: How To Romance TifaIn Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the sequel to 2020’s hit Final Fantasy VII Remake, you get a chance to go on a date with one of your party members during your visit to the Gold Saucer during Chapter 12. To properly romance Tifa and guarantee that you get her as your date, you need to perform specific tasks throughout the game, including choosing the right dialogue options when prompted, winning at select mini-games, and completing particular side quests. This guide will help you ensure that you make all the right choices to go on a date with Tifa, Cloud’s childhood friend.

Be forewarned, however, that the actions you have to take to romance Tifa will sacrifice your standing with other characters. You see, each character in the game has a “bonds of friendship” meter, and your actions and choices in the game affect how each member of your party feels about Cloud. Our goal is to max out how much Tifa likes, guaranteeing she’s our date, but doing this may hurt our standing with other characters. Also, another note: if you’ve already completed the game or have passed the point where you can complete some of these tasks, don’t fret. You can always use chapter select for a redo. Here’s how to successfully romance Tifa in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Lucky for you, if Tifa is your gal, the game offers plenty of ways to get her to increase how she feels about you – perhaps even more than the other characters. In summary, here is a list of actions you need to perform to guarantee she is your date:

  • Fulfill seven distinct side quests that revolve around Tifa.
  • Earn 100,000 points while marching in the Junon Parade.
  • Choose the appropriate dialogue options when conversing with Tifa.
  • Have Cloud and Tifa select matching swimsuits in Costa Del Sol.
  • Choose to help Red XIII and Tifa in combat during the invasion of Costa Del Sol.
  • While in combat, use synergy skills often with Tifa.
"Your relationship with Tifa has changed." It sure has.

If done right, you’ll earn a date with Tifa that will have her and Cloud go to a play and then ride on the Gold Saucer’s skywheel, which ends with a kiss between the two.

Side Quests That Will Help You Romance Tifa

Completing these specific side missions, which heavily feature Tifa, means that Cloud and Tifa will build rapport with each other, making the chances of Tifa showing up and asking him out at the Gold Saucer go up. The side missions you need to complete to romance Tifa are:

  • “A Rare Card Lost” in the Kalm region during Chapter 2.
  • “Calling All Frogs” in the Junon region during Chapter 4.
  • “Dreaming of Blue Skies” in the Junon region during Chapter 4.
  • “Bodybuilders in a Bind” in Costa Del Sol during Chapter 7.
  • “My White Haired Angel” in Nibleheim during Chapter 11.
  • “Sand and Circuses” in Corel during Chapter 12.
  • “Gold Cup or Bust” in Corel during Chapter 12.

A few caveats – “Dreaming of Blue Skies” is only unlocked after you complete two other quests, one being the “Friends Together Again” main mission and the other being the “When Words Won’t Die” sidequest. Furthermore, to be able to do the “Sands and Circuses” mission, you need to have already completed “Trouble in Paradise” while unlocking “Gold Cup or Bust” requires the completion of “Esoteric Secrets of the Elders” in Nibleheim.

Marching in the Junon Parade

Earning at least 100,000 points as the leader of Infantry 7 during Rufus’ parade in Junon will earn you points with both Tifa and Aerith. To do this, you need to master the timing mini-game which resembles the one of Cloud dancing on stage in Final Fantasy VII Remake. It’s a pretty simple and relatively easy way to get Tifa to increase her attitude towards you. A performance worthy of 100,000 points in the parade would look something like the video above.

Dialogue Tree Choices That Will Help You Romance Tifa

Though not all conversations with Tifa are opportunities for you to get her to like you, there are six distinct ones that will maximize the amount of standing you have with her. To romance Tifa, you must respond to the given prompts with the following:

  • During Chapter 2, in Kalm, Tifa will ask Cloud “This tank remind you of anything?” The strongest response is “The place I made that promise to you.
  • During Chapter 4, in Junon, Tifa will ask Cloud “Do you remember a guy named Emilio?” The proper response is “Only person from the village I remember is you.”
  • During Chapter 6, in Costa Del Sol, Tifa will state to Cloud “Feels like it’s been ages since Seventh Heaven.” The correct response is “Lot’s happened since then.”
  • During Chapter 9, in Gongaga, Tifa will ask Cloud “What sorta thing would you go for?” The best response is “Gonna go with the pot roast.”
  • During Chapter 10, in Cosmo Canyon, Tifa will ask “Did I sound as awkward as I felt?” What Tifa wants to hear is “You did good.
  • During Chapter 11, in Nibleheim, Tifa will state to Cloud “It was taking a toll… then you turned up.” The appropriate response is “Have I helped you get through it at all?

One thing to keep in mind is that not all of the dialogue will be prompted by the game automatically – you may have to manually find and talk to Tifa in these spots during your travels.

Costa Del Sol

Matching Beachwear

Cloud in his Wild Surf beachwear and Tifa in her Shining Spirit swimsuit.

This one’s pretty straightforward – you just need to make sure Cloud and Tifa select matching beach clothes in Costa Del Sol. Which outfit you need to pick for Tifa is largely dependent on what you pick for Cloud. If you choose the Ocean Chocobo outfit for Cloud, then you must choose the Majestic Glamour swimsuit for Tifa. However, if you give Cloud the Wild Surf swimsuit, then Tifa needs to be dressed in the Shining Spirit outfit. The outfits can be unlocked using Companion Cards, which can be earned via the various mini-games scattered throughout the vacation resort.

Invasion

This one’s another gimme, all you have to do is choose to aid Red XIII and Tifa in battle instead of Aerith and Barret when Costa Del Sol gets ravaged by Hojo’s nightmarish abominations. This is one of the few chances in the games where you must choose between the two leading ladies. Choosing Tifa’s side in this instance earns you major points with her.

Using Synergy in Combat Helps You Romance Tifa

The last thing you can do to help boost your standing with Tifa is use her in your party and use as many synergy abilities with her as you can as you fight enemies throughout the game. There are five options in this case:

  • Slip and Slide
  • Heavenly Ascent
  • Soaring Flurry
  • Synchro Cyclone
  • Relentless Rush
Building rapport during combat will help you earn points with the character you desire to date.

Synchro Cyclone, a synergy ability.

The Date

The result of your hard work will be Tifa showing up to your hotel room and asking you out. Once you get through the play – which features Aerith singing – and are on the couple’s skywheel, the fireworks begin, both literally and figuratively. Enjoy.
