A new quest involving everyone’s favourite puppy, Archie, is available now in Destiny 2. As part of the Into the Light update – which has added the Onslaught horde mode to the game, as well as a suite of other sweeping changes and additions – players can partake in a short, but sweet, quest to find Archie, the robotic dog we rescued back in Season of the Seraph. Until Into the Light launched, Archie spent his days dozing off outside of Ada-1’s manufacturing room, where Guardians could visit him for some quality doggy attention. Well, now he’s gone missing and it’s up to you to try and find him: manage to do so and not only will Archie return to his old spot, but you’ll get some nice mementos as well as a brand new Shader.

Here’s how to complete the Where in The Tower is Archie? Quest in Destiny 2.

How to Start the Where in the Tower is Archie Quest

To begin Where in The Tower is Archie?, make your way to the Annex section of the Tower. This section of the map is where Ada-1, as well as the Drifter, make their home. Up until Into the Light, you could visit Archie here, too, but, go to where he used to rest and you’ll find it empty. In his place, you’ll only find a set of glowing paw prints.

Interacting with the paw prints will prompt you to visit Ada just a short walk away. She’ll then give you the Where in The Tower is Archie? Quest, alongside a hint at where the robot dog may have ended up in his wandering.

An important thing to note is that Ada won’t have the quest available until you’ve examined the first set of prints and, naturally, the rest of Archie’s prints also won’t show up around the Tower until the quest is in your inventory.

Archie Bazaar Location

Upon accepting the quest from Ada, you’ll be given a hint as to where Archie may have wandered off too. The first hint reads:

“Archie heard about something called “ramen” and had to know what all the buzz was about.”

As any Destiny veteran worth their salt should know, there’s a small ramen shop off to the side of the Bazaar on the path you walk through to talk to Hawthorne. In fact, if you were around during Forsaken, you would have visited this stall to receive a set of Ramen Coupons in memory of Cayde (this will be important later).

When it comes to finding Archie, make your way to the ramen stand and let yourself in. Behind the counter will be another set of suspicious glowing paw prints and, interacting with them will get you your next clue.

Archie Courtyard Location

The second clue to Archie’s location in the Tower in Destiny 2 is:

“Archie wanted to go pay respects to a famous gunslinger.”

The gunslinger in question here is Cayde-6, Hunter Vanguard who was killed off early in the Forsaken expansion and who is set to return during The Final Shape. Ever since his untimely end, Cayde’s had an Ace-of-Spades-themed plaque engraved into the courtyard grounds but, with Lightfall, he received a full-on memorial with a small statue next to the Guardian Rank tree behind Zavala.

If you visit the Cayde memorial for yourself, another set of Archie’s paw prints will greet you, leading you to yet another location in the Tower.

Archie Hangar Location

The third clue to Archie’s location in Destiny 2 reads:

“Archie took off past the security checkpoint to salute a feathered friend.”

There’s only one feathered individual in the Tower and that’s the Colonel, Cayde’s pet chicken who he took from the Farm and was later looked after by Amanda Holiday. Amanda constantly worked on ships inside of the Tower’s Hangar, the next area you need to visit on your quest.

After entering the Hangar, go right to where Amanda used to serve as a shipwright. Just before you make it to Amanda’s vigil, yet another set of Archie’s paw prints will make themselves apparent. Interacting with these will then give you the final clue to complete the questline.

Archie Final Location

The final location Archie has scampered off to is a bit harder to locate than the others, namely because it is actually in a hidden section of the Tower. The hint to Archie’s last hiding spot is:

“Archie’s last stop. He wandered into an open airduct in the hangar and might’ve gotten a little lost. A friendly security frame is keeping an eye on him.”

If any of you were around during Beyond Light and Season of the Hunt, you’ll recognise the path we’re about to take as it’s the same route we had to take to find, and eventually unlock, the Leviathan’s Breath Exotic Heavy Bow. To reach this location, you’ll need to enter a wide air duct in the upper sections of the Hangar, an area you can only reach through a very specific method.

Beginning at Archie’s last set of prints, turn around and make your way past where the Dead Orbit vendor used to stand and go to the set of stairs where Xur likes to hawk his wares. Ascend the stairs to the very top and then follow the path left until you’re overlooking the entryway into the Hangar. Next, you’ll want to jump the railing and hop over to a thin bit of metal extending around the corner.

Making this jump may take a bit of time but, once you eventually land it, follow the path into the large air duct opening. From here, all you need to do is keep following the path forward deeper into the labyrinth of tunnels and air ducts hidden in the Tower’s walls. Eventually, you’ll even begin to hear Archie’s mechanical barking, signalling that your search is at an end.

Emerge from one final set of air vents and there you’ll find Archie being looked after by a friendly security robot. Interact with him and, after some pets, he’ll transmat back to the area outside of Ada’s synthweave room.

Quest and Triumph Rewards

Upon finding Archie for the last time, the final object of the Where in The Tower is Archie? Quest will trigger, asking you to visit Ada-1 once more. Speaking to here will allow you to complete the quest and, as a reward, you’ll obtain Archie’s Gift, an Expired Ramen Coupon which will look familiar to older Destiny 2 players. This item will go to your Inventory and, while it’s safe to dismantle, the description will probably stay your hand.

“Archie found this under a chair in the Bazaar. Someone was probably angry they couldn’t use it.

This item has no use and can be safely dismantled… though Archie might be sad.”

More importantly, finding Archie for the first time will also unlock the Where in the System is Archie? Triumph under the Into the Light Secrets tab. This objective is for finding Archie once anywhere, which hints at there being additional adventures for Archie in future weeks, especially because there’s a new Lore Book attached to these triumphs. For completing Where in the System is Archie?, you’ll obtain a Bungie Rewards Code to purchase a real-life plush of Archie which glows in the dark, as well as the Blue Steel Legendary Shader which is based on Archie’s metallic blue coat.

That was how I found Archie as part of the new Where in The Tower is Archie? Quest in Destiny 2 Into the Light. At the moment, we don’t know if this questline is going away with The Final Shape so if you want to snag that Archie plushie or the Blue Steel Shader, make sure to find him sooner rather than later.
