Destiny 2: The Recluse God Rolls and How to Get Them

The Recluse has returned to Destiny 2 with Into the Light and comes with all-new god rolls. Previously the Recluse was obtained as a Pinnacle Weapon via a Shaxx quest. Now The Recluse is obtainable through Onslaught and the Hall of Champions with the 11 other BRAVE Weapons! Also, all Onslaught weapons are obtainable until the release of Destiny 2: The Final Shape.

The Recluse was previously known for its amazing combination with Mountaintop. How to Get the Recluse – BRAVE Variant

For those who dread PVP and the previous grind the Recluse required, you’re in luck. The Recluse God Rolls are obtained by playing Onslaught and a simple quest found within the Hall of Champions. The quest will provide you with a curated roll and allow you to attune the Recluse.

By attuning the Recluse you increase your chances of it dropping to a 50% drop rate. This is incredibly helpful for players farming a very specific roll or looking for a ‘shiny’ or holofoil variant. Holofoil variants drop with 2 perks in each column, allowing players to possess multiple god rolls on one weapon. Keep in mind, that you can only have one of the 12 Brave weapons attuned at a time.

Recluse Quest – ‘Recluse Endangerment’

The Recluse Endangerment quest can be acquired from Article 99-40 within the Hall of Champions. Article 99-40 can be found next to Shaxx and provides quests to acquire every BRAVE weapon. Also, If Article doesn’t have the Recluse Endangerment quest, you must first complete Elsie’s Rifle quest for the all-new Pulse Rifle.

To complete the quest, players are required to obtain rapid kills or defeat Guardians with an SMG. While you may receive a bonus to quest progress within Onslaught, enemies can be hard to rapidly defeat with the ‘help’ of matchmade teammates. In this case, I recommend using the first checkpoint of Grasp of Avarice. By loading into Grasp of Avarice on the cosmodrome, players can continuously farm enemies so long as they do not deposit their motes.

Farm the first checkpoint of Grasp of Avarice for easy quest progress and SMG kills.

After completing the required SMG kills, it’s time to head to the Hall of Champions. Upon arrival, you will now be able to attune the Recluse at the hologram left of the entrance. Once attuned, you will increase the drop rate of the Recluse to 50% and can complete your quest. Proceed to Shaxx in the Hall of Champions to receive a curated roll of the Recluse (Feeding Frenzy + Master of Arms). Now that your quest is completed, you’re one step closer to farming your Recluse god rolls.

How to Get a Holofoil Recluse – ‘Shiny’ Destiny 2 Weapons

The Destiny 2: Into the Light Update brought with it 12 Brave Weapons. In addition to being able to acquire these weapons, players can also acquire ‘shiny’ variants known as Holofoil weapons. A holofoil weapon has a rare chance of dropping when receiving any of the 12 Brave weapons and has its advantages. To start, the ‘shiny’ variant of weapons comes with an equiptable ornament known as Holofoil.

The Holofoil Variant of the Recluse can roll 2 perks in each column.

The Holofoil Variant of the Recluse can roll 2 perks in each column.

In addition to the exclusive ornament, players can roll 2 rolls in each column on Holofoil variants. This allows players to obtain multiple god rolls on one BRAVE weapon. For example, players can obtain both a PVE and PVP god roll on the same weapon. Not only does this save vault/inventory space, but it also makes for quite the bragging right. Holofoil weapons are only obtainable until the release of Destiny 2: The Final Shape expansion. This means you only have until June 7th to get your Holofoil Recluse god rolls.

The Recluse Perk Pool – A Void Guardian’s Dream

Players have looked for a lightweight frame SMG to replace the Recluse since it was sunset. With the release of the BRAVE Weapon Arsenal, players no longer have to find a replacement. Additionally, players can look forward to a great collection of perks for enhancing their builds.

Players who enjoy ability-heavy builds will find the Recluse especially pleasing due to its perks like Desperate Measures and Repulsor Brace. And while Master of Arms may not be the first choice for PVE anymore, it is still a fantastic option for Crucible. Below you can discover every perk you’ll encounter while farming the Recluse god rolls within Onslaught.

These are the First Column perks you can expect to find:

  • Feeding Frenzy
  • Subsistence
  • Repulsor Brace
  • Threat Detector
  • Hip-Fire Grip
  • Dynamic Sway Reduction
  • Enlightened Action

While the Second Column can roll with the following perks:

  • Master of Arms
  • Desperate Measures
  • Destabilizing Rounds
  • Tap the Trigger
  • Target Lock
  • Frenzy
  • Surrounded

Recluse Origin Trait – Indomitability

The Origin Trait Indomitability is shared by all 12 Brave weapons. Indomitability states that it ‘grants grenade energy when playing a Light subclass or melee energy when playing a Darkness subclass‘. While not as strong as perks like Demolitionist or Pugist, it is still noticeable and incredibly helpful when using void builds with the Recluse.

By getting your grenade and melee ability faster, you can keep buffs like Devour and Volatile rounds active. In addition to helping you activate Void buffs, the Indomability Origin Trait can help you activate perks like Desperate Measures much faster. Indomitablity is not often noticed on some of the BRAVE weapons (ex: Falling Guillotine), but it shines on add-clearing weapons like the Recluse.

The Recluse God Rolls – Options for Everyone

The Recluse Perk Pool offers options for every player and their unique play styles. While the ‘Easy Damage / Easy Ammo’ roll is great for nearly every subclass, I highly recommend the ‘Destabilizing Shield’ roll to any Void Guardians. Combining Void Fragments with perks like Destabilizing Rounds can provide so many void buffs/debuffs that they won’t all be displayed.

No matter the Recluse god roll you seek, it is a solid option for the current state of Destiny 2. With most players currently using builds that lean into abilities, any perks that revolve around them are a welcome addition. Also, players should keep in mind that after the release of The Final Shape expansion, the Recluse perks can be enhanced. This means the current Recluse god rolls will only get better.

Easy Damage / Easy Ammo (PVE) Subsistence + Desperate Measures

Most players who used Recluse in the past loved the ability to activate its impressive damage perk with ease. By utilizing Desperate Measures, you can do more damage than the original Master of Arms. While it may not be as easy as Master of Arms to activate, it’s more than worth it for the potential 30% increase in damage. It also reactivates every kill, making it incredibly convenient.

To activate Desperate Measures, players must simply defeat an enemy using the Recluse. Upon activation players will be granted 1x stack of Desperate Measures for 7 seconds. Players will be granted another stack of Desperate Measures by getting a kill with a grenade or melee ability. (Maximum 3x Stack) Each stack of Desperate Measures increases the Recluse’s damage by 10%. Using Exotics like Sunbracers will allow a constant 30% damage buff.

Destabilizing Shield (PVE) Repulsor Brace + Destabilizing Rounds

This Recluse God Roll is a Void Sublass user’s dream. Volatile Rounds have been a community favorite since their release as an artifact mod in Season 16. The Destabilizing Rounds perk applies Volatile to nearby enemies when getting a kill. This allows you to clear adds at an insane speed due to its area of effect damage and protection provided by Repulsor Brace.

In addition to Destabilizing Rounds, the Recluse features Repulsor Brace. On its own Repulsor Brace can feel underwhelming, but when paired with Destabilizing rounds it truly shines. When you defeat an enemy with a Void Debuff, Repulsor Brace grants the player an overshield. Stacking these with Void Subclass fragments will make for endless Void abilities/debuffs.

The Recluse will help you activate your Void buff/debuffs with every kill.

Master of Stability (PVP) Dynamic Sway Reduction + Master of Arms

While the Recluse may feature a popular PVP perk known as Target Lock, it doesn’t improve the damage enough to make it worth it. Increasing the time-to-kill by mere milliseconds, it’s best to look towards perks that will increase your damage with greater ease. Master of Arms provides a 15% increase to Recluses damage when you get a kill with any weapon and lasts for 7 seconds.

With the addition of Dynamic Sway Reduction, players can hold the trigger to decrease weapon recoil: A much-welcomed perk for a lightweight frame SMG. Upon receiving a kill with any weapon, players will be left with an incredibly easy-to-fire damage machine. If you’re looking to further the Recluse’s range and accuracy, consider farming for Hammer Forged Rifling, Ricochet Rounds, and a Range Masterwork.
