Being the only gun to roll ‘Magnificent Howl’, it’s no surprise players are rushing to acquire this Hand Cannon for their Destiny 2 arsenal.
Something interesting that came with adding random perk rolls to Luna’s Howl is the ability to use it effectively in PVE. Previously Luna’s Howl was primarily found in the Crucible and ineffective in high-level PVE content. How to Get Luna’s Howl (BRAVE) – Stranger Danger Quest
The first step in acquiring a Luna’s Howl is obtaining the ‘Stranger Danger’ quest. The quest can be found in the Hall of Champions and is sold by Article 99-40. Players should also note that if the Stranger Danger quest does not appear, they have yet to complete the previous BRAVE weapon quests. The quest requires players to get Hand Cannon eliminations in PVE or PVP.
After completing the quest, players will be capable of attuning Luna’s Howl in the Hall of Champions. Attuning allows players to increase the drop rate of any BRAVE weapon to 50%. Additionally, players will receive a curated roll of Luna’s Howl from Shaxx. While there may be more desirable rolls, the curated roll is not a bad option for Crucible featuring Eye of the Storm and Magnificent Howl.

Quest Tips – Complete the Stranger Danger Quest as Fast as Possible
While most BRAVE weapon quests are easier to complete in PVE, players can score 50 Hand Cannon eliminations within 2-3 Crucible games. For those looking to steer clear of the Crucible, the Grasp of Avarice is always a fantastic option for farming Hand Cannon eliminations. By not acquiring or depositing any motes, enemies will continuously spawn in the first encounter.
In addition to all of these methods, Onslaught provides additional quest progress. While this is useful, playing with a friend who won’t kill enemies before you have a chance is even better. Also, bring a hand cannon with AoE damage to ensure rapid bounty progress! For example, Sunshot or any hand cannon with Firefly/Dragonfly.
Sunshot is a fantastic option for completing the Stranger Danger quest in PVE.
‘Shiny’ Luna’s Howl – Holofoil Variant
All 12 BRAVE weapons can drop with a Holofoil variant. Cleverly nicknamed ‘Shiny’ weapons – this is a reference to shiny Pokémon that features a unique and exclusive appearance. Holofoil weapons drop randomly when obtaining BRAVE weapons but won’t once Destiny 2: The Final Shape is released.
Holofoil Weapons come with an exclusive weapon ornament. While the ornament is equipped, players will notice they cannot see applied shaders. By removing the ornament, players can apply shaders. In addition to an exclusive ornament, Holofoil weapons feature 2 perks in the first and second columns. This makes it possible to obtain multiple god rolls on one Luna’s Howl, saving you precious vault space.

Luna’s Howl Perk Pool – The Return of Magnificent Howl
Luna’s Howl has always been coveted due to its exclusive perk, Magnificent Howl. The perk description states ‘The number of precision final blows before reloading affects the total rounds granted with increased range and damage. Precision final blows with Magnificent Howl active extend the effect for additional rounds.’ Magnificent Rounds provide a 50% damage bonus making it a fantastic perk for the Crucible.
In addition to Magnificent Howl, players can now randomly roll 13 other perks on the Luna’s Howl. With perks like Incandescent and Heal Clip, Luna’s Howl can now be used in Destiny 2 PVE activities. Indomitability – Luna’s Howl Origin Trait
Found on all BRAVE weapons added in Destiny 2: Into the Light, Indomitability is an amazing perk for those who utilize their subclass abilities. While using a Light Subclass, eliminations will grant grenade energy. But, while using a Darkness Subclass, eliminations will grant melee energy.
Even if the effects of the origin trait may not be as significant as perks like Demolitionist or Pugist, it still provides 5% with each elimination. With area-of-effect perks like Incandescent, players are guaranteed to see the effects of Indomitability.
Indomitability is the Origin Trait for all BRAVE weapons.
Luna’s Howl God Rolls – Master of All Trades
With Hand Cannons always being a solid option in The Crucible, it’s not surprising there are multiple Luna’s Howl God Rolls for PVP. In addition to fantastic PVP rolls, Luna’s Howl now has perks that make it viable in PVE content. Even in Destiny 2: Into the Lights all-new Onslaught Gamemode.
Multiple of Luna’s Howl god rolls will feature its signature perk Magnificent Howl, but there are options for players who aren’t the biggest fans. Using perks like Kill Clip, players can avoid getting the precision shots that Magnificent Howl requires and still get increased damage.
Luna’s Howl is now a viable PVE option.
Extra Damage / Extra Health (PVP) Heal Clip + Magnificent Howl
Heal Clip was recently added in Season 22 and ‘Reloading shortly after dealing a final blow grants Cure to you and your nearby allies’. This comes in handy when facing multiple opponents in the crucible and could give you the edge needed to come out glorious.
In addition to the fantastic healing abilities Heal Clip provides, Magnificent Howl allows players to deal extra damage by landing precision shots before reloading. The amount of precision shots before reloading will determine the amount of buffed rounds. Every Magnificent Howl round provides a 50% damage increase and an unknown increase in weapon range.
Precision Shots are required to activate Magnificent Howl.
Sharpshooter / Curated Roll (PVP) Eye of the Storm + Magnificent Howl
Players looking to hone their accuracy should look no further than the ‘Sharpshooter’ Luna’s Howl god roll. Featuring Eye of the Storm, players will find their accuracy is increased after losing health. With its full effects active, you see a 40% decrease in accuracy cone size and 30 added handling.
The increase in accuracy from Eye of the Storm paired with Magnificent Howl can be insane. In addition to incredible accuracy and handling, Magnificent Rounds provide a noticeable increase in weapon range. Players looking for this Luna’s Howl god roll will be happy to know it is the curated roll obtained from the Stranger Danger quest.

Repetitive Reloader (PVP) Heal Clip + Kill Clip
Some players (myself included) can struggle to hit their precision shots in the Crucible. For those less likely to land those precision shots, replacing Magnificent Howl with Kill Clip eases this burden. But do keep in mind, by switching to Kill Clip you only get a 25% increase in damage instead of Magnificent Howl’s 50%.
Released recently, Heal Clip is an exceptional perk to pair with Kill Clip. When reloading not only will you gain your increase in damage, but you will also be granted up to 2x cure. In addition, your nearby fireteam members will also be granted cure. Cure grants instant health or shield if guardians are already full health.
Kill Clip gives players a 25% increase in damage if they reload after an elimination.
The Cauterizer (PVE) Heal Clip + Incandescent
Luna’s Howl becoming a viable option in Destiny 2 PVE was not on my 2024 Bingo Card, but here we are. Heal Clip has become an exceptional perk for staying alive in higher-level or solo content by instantly restoring health and shield upon reloading. With Heal Clip being popular in PVE and PVP, players were thrilled to see it in Luna’s Howl perk pool.
The fact Heal Clip can roll with damage perks like Incandescent makes it usable in PVE. When defeating an enemy, Incandescent will apply scorch to nearby enemies. This pairs incredibly with solar subclasses and Exotics like Sunbracers/Hallowfire Heart due to added scorch.
