Destiny 2: How to Get the Falling Guillotine God Rolls

Destiny 2 Into the Light brought many old favorites like Falling Guillotine back with the addition of new perk pools and ‘shiny’ variants. Falling Guillotine’s new perk pool consists of Eager Edge and some deadly damage combinations. After Aztecross performed a damage test revealing the Falling Guillotine to be the most damaging sword, it’s no surprise players are rushing to acquire their own.

Players will be pleased to discover unlocking the Brave variant of the Falling Guillotine is rather straightforward. The real challenge is finding one with the roll capable of such high damage. Luckily, there are a few fantastic rolls you have to choose from to achieve this. Below you can discover how to unlock the Fallen Guillotine, its complete perk pool, and which perks are considered a god roll.

Players should note that all of the BRAVE weapons are obtainable after the release of The Final Shape DLC. Only their curated and limited edition holofoil or ‘shiny’ roll will be removed upon the release.

How to Get the Falling Guillotine – Hall of Champions

The Falling Guillotine is remembered fondly by many Destiny 2 Players. When it was originally released in Season of the Arrivals, it was loved by many. Due to its ability to roll a whirlwind blade on a vortex frame sword, it quickly became the most used sword for many damage encounters. When released, Falling Guillotine was obtained through the season pass rewards. Players will now find themselves completing a very simple quest allowing them to farm Falling Guillotine at an alarming rate!

The Spin to Win quest is obtained from Article 99-40, to the right of Shaxx.

Spin to Win – Falling Guillotine Quest

To acquire the new Brave weapon, players will find themselves completing a straightforward quest. To locate the Quest players must find Article 99-40, the Hall of Champions Quartermaster. This is not difficult as he is located directly to the right of Shaxx in the Hall of Champions.

If the Spin to Win quest doesn’t appear when speaking to Article 99-40, you haven’t completed the previous quest to acquire Elsie’s Rifle. Elsie’s Rifle is a high-impact frame Pulse Rifle that must be obtained before completing any other Brave Weapon quests. Once you’ve collected the quest, it’s time to get some sword kills.

The quest to obtain Falling Guillotine requires you to get rapid sword kills. While it may also give additional progress when completed in Onslaught, there are other options. Some may notice that a full fireteam makes it difficult to achieve the required rapid kills. For those who find this to be the case, fly into to Grasp of Avarice Dungeon on the Cosmodrome and farm the first checkpoint. Just be sure not to collect/bank any motes for this method to be most effective.

Attuning Falling Guillotine

After completing your rapid sword kills, return to the Hall of Champions. When arriving, players will notice Falling Guillotines statue can now be interacted with. Activate the attunement to complete the Spin to Win quest. At this point, Shaxx will award you with a curated roll Falling Guillotine.

In addition to completing your quest, attuning a weapon will cause it to have a higher drop rate than the other brave weapons. Bringing its random drop rate to a flat 50% drop rate. Incredibly helpful to those looking to get all 12 Brave Weapon god rolls or a Holofoil variant before the release of The Final Shape expansion.

Falling Guillotine Perk Pool – A Perfect Recipe for Damage

Origin Trait – Indomitability

The Origin Trait for Falling Guillotine ‘grants grenade energy when playing a Light subclass or melee energy when playing a Darkness subclass‘. Indomitability is the origin trait for all BRAVE weapons released with the Into the Light update and is quite impressive when paired with demolitionist on Void, Arc, or Solar.

Indomitablity is a fantastic origin trait for players who lean into their abilities when crafting builds. This being said, the Origin Trait is not often noticed when using the Falling Guillotine unless using a perk such as a chain reaction. This is due to the sword more commonly being damage phase, less for add clear.

Falling Guillotine God Rolls – PVE & PVP

Falling Guillotine is capable of a few god rolls that will satisfy guardians of multiple playstyles. With the ability to enhance perks after the release of The Final Shape expansion, the Falling Guillotine will also become more powerful than ever. Using the PVE god roll, this sword is already out damaging every other sword in the Crota’s End final encounter.

Boss Damage Perks (PVE) | Frenzy + Surrounded

The Falling Guillotine has quickly become a Destiny 2 community favorite again due to its ability to roll damage perks in both columns. With Crota’s End still being a popular raid option, players can do more than enough damage with Frenzy + Surrounded. Additionally, it is incredibly good in Onslaught where you are sure to activate both perks. Players may note that Hammerhead is now also capable of rolling double damage perks.

Frenzy is incredibly easy to activate and provides a 15% damage increase to your Falling Guillotine. To activate Frenzy, players have to be in combat for 12 seconds. Surrounded is even easier to activate, as the only requirement is that 3 enemies be near you. In cases where players are fighting a boss that has no nearby enemies, Frenzy + Bait and Switch is your best option. Bait and Switch will provide a 30% damage increase whereas Surrounded provides a hefty 35%.

The Chain Reaction perk is more focused on add-clear.

Explosive Eager Edge (PVP & PVE) | Chain Reaction + Eager Edge

Eager Edge has become one of the most popular perks in Destiny 2 since its release with the 30th anniversary update. Assisting players in advanced movement, Eager Edge allows the player to lunge forward at incredible speeds toward a target. Even faster when the player quickly stows the weapon after swinging

When combining Chain Reaction with Eager Edge, you get a fast-paced, add-clearing machine. Additionally, a crucible nightmare for any enemies at close range. The Falling Guillotine is a vortex frame sword, meaning a heavy attack can easily eliminate any enemies around you. By utilizing Eager Edge you can close the gap on a group of enemies, then the heavy attack to eliminate them.
