Destiny 2: How (And When) to Get Every Revision Zero Catalyst

This guide will tell you everything you need to know about the Catalysts for the Revision Zero Exotic Pulse Rifle in Destiny 2. Revision Zero is a very unique Exotic, with it being the first weapon to have multiple Catalysts. In this guide, you will learn what each of them does as well as how to unlock them and when they will become available to earn.

Destiny 2: How (And When) to Get Every Revision Zero Catalyst

Season of the Seraph in Destiny 2 has bought back a much-beloved feature for the Destiny community: Exotic Missions. While not quite as exciting as Secret Missions, a good Exotic Mission can serve as the highlight of an entire season and, fortunately, Operation: Seraph’s Shield seems to be just that.

This is especially true because of the reward attached to said Exotic Mission, in the form of the new Exotic Pulse Rifle the Revision Zero. If you want to learn how to get your hands on this new Exotic (and how to complete the Exotic Mission) you can find our guide on it here.

A strange hybrid of Destiny 1 Exotic Khvostov, Arbalest and Sniper Rifle, this weapon is extremely unique and will serve you very well in PvE and PvP. Like the Osteo Striga, this weapon even has extensive Crafting and Shaping capabilities, allowing players to perfectly fine-tune barrel, magazine and stock options to their preference. This vast array of Shaping opportunities comes with a new mystery, though: Revision Zero has multiple Catalysts.

This is a first for Destiny 2 as every weapon, up until now, has received a single Catalyst which gave it enhanced stats and maybe a new Perk. With Revision Zero, you can earn and choose from 4 distinct Catalysts at the Enclave, giving the weapon four different Perks. How (and when) you can actually get these Catalysts seems a bit hazy right now.

Here’s how to unlock every Revision Zero Catalyst in Destiny 2, as well as when they become available.

How to Check Each Catalyst

The Revision Zero, like the Osteo Striga before it, has a strange relationship with Catalysts. Instead of clotting it onto your gun like most other weapons, it has to be crafted at the Enclave during Weapon Shaping. This makes a bit more sense in the case of Revision Zero, as it will have multiple Catalyst choices down the line.

To check each of the Exotic Catalysts for this weapon, make your way to the Enclave on Mars. Once you’re there, enter the Crafting menu and Reshape the Revision Zero.

After passing the barrel, magazine, Perk and stock options, you will reach the Catalyst section of the Shaping process. This is where you will attach and equip each of the four distinct Catalysts to the Revision Zero, which will intrinsically receive the effects of said Catalyst once Shaped.

There’s only one problem. As of Week 3 of Season of the Seraph, the Catalysts are all locked. Not only are they all locked, though, but they also unlock at different times.

All Revision Zero Catalysts + Release Dates

The following section will detail what all of the Exotic Catalysts for Revision Zero do in Destiny 2, as well as when they will unlock.

There will also be some discussion of Datamined Quest Steps for each of the Should You Choose to Accept It Quests. These are the Quests that will award you the various Catalysts as completion rewards.

If you don’t want to see the Quest Steps but would still like to know the release date of each Catalyst, check the first part of each section. All information on these datamined steps can be found on Light.gg.

Frenzy Refit Catalyst

The Frenzy Refit Catalyst is the first one you will gain access to. This will be available after Step 32 of the Season of the Seraph Main Story Quest. As of the end of week 3, we are on Step 25. Based on that, the Frenzy Refit Catalyst should release on the 27th of December 2022.

This Catalyst gives Revision Zero the additional perk Feeding Frenzy. This is a popular reload perk mainly used in PvE, as with each rapid kill this weapon progressively increases reload speed for a short time. Each kill adds one stack to the gun, maxing out at five stacks, and granting greatly increased reload.

Feeding Frenzy isn’t a bad option if you want to sidestep Revision Zero’s main flaw: its ammo economy. With a low basic magazine of around 18-22 and a very slow reload, Revision Zero chews through ammo in both the 4-Burst and 2-Burst modes. Feeding Frenzy allows you to circumnavigate that slightly, as well as synergising pretty well with several of the main perk options on the gun.

Should You Choose to Accept It Part 1

Upon completion of Step 32 of the More Than A Weapon Main Story Quest, you will receive Should You Choose to Accept It Part 1. This quest has several steps, culminating in the Frenzy Refit Catalyst being awarded to you.

The quest steps are:

  1. Return to the Archimedes Annex and download the cryptographic index.
  2. Travel to Europa for further instructions.
  3. Decrypt the passcode cipher by completing patrols and defeating combatants on Europa.
  4. Locate the dead drop in the Perdition Lost Sector of Cadmus Ridge, and upload the cipher. Cipher // BARDEN
  5. Launch “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty and find the weapon schematic.
  6. Complete “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty to successfully obtain the catalyst.

Pressurized Refit Catalyst

The second Catalyst you will get is the Pressurized Refit Catalyst. This will unlock after Step 39 of More Than a Weapon. Based on our previous predictions, this should mean that the Pressurized Refit Catalyst will unlock on the 3rd of January 2023.

This Catalyst gives the weapon Under Pressure. As the magazine gets lower, Revision Zero will receive improved stability and accuracy. Considering the ammo economy problem I previously mentioned, this works rather well. You can turn that weakness into a strength, one that will shine particularly bright in PvP.

Should You Choose to Accept It Part 2

Upon completion of Step 39 of More Than A Weapon, you will receive Should You Choose to Accept It Part 2. At the end of this Quest, you should be handed the Pressurized Refit Catalyst.

The steps for this quest are:

  1. Return to the Diocles Annex and download a cryptographic index.
  2. Travel to the Moon for further instructions.
  3. Decrypt passcode cipher by completing patrols and defeating combatants on the Moon.
  4. Locate the dead drop in the K1 Logistics Lost Sector of Archer’s Line, and upload the cipher. Cipher: DIDRAS
  5. Launch “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty and find the weapon schematic.
  6. Complete “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty to successfully obtain the catalyst.

Outlaw Refit Catalyst

The third Catalyst is the Outlaw Refit Catalyst. This becomes available after Step 46 of the Season of the Seraph Main Quest. Once again, based on previous predictions, this means that it should release on January 10th 2023.

As the name suggests, this Catalyst gives the weapon Outlaw. Like Feeding Frenzy, this is a very popular reload perk. This will be especially potent on Revision Zero due to the need to hit precision hits to charge Hunter’s Trace. The more headshots you hit, the more likely you are to get a kill with one, which grants you a way to avoid the horrendously long reload time.

Should You Choose to Accept It Part 3

Upon completion of Step 46 of More Than A Weapon, you will receive Should You Choose to Accept It Part 3. The Outlaw Refit Catalyst will be your reward at the end of this Quest.

Those Quest steps are:

  1. Return to the Archimedes Annex and download a new cryptographic index.
  2. Travel to the EDZ for further instructions.
  3. Decrypt Passcode Cipher by completing patrols and defeating combatants in the EDZ.
  4. Locate the dead drop in the Terminus East Lost Sector of Trostland, and upload the cipher. Cipher: GE’FRES
  5. Launch “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty and find the weapon schematic.
  6. Complete “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty to successfully obtain the catalyst.

4-Timer Refit Catalyst

The fourth, and final Catalyst, for Revision Zero in Destiny 2 is the 4-Timer Refit Catalyst. This unlocks after Step 53 of the More Than a Weapon Quest Chain. This is likely to be the final major series of objectives for the main story (as most Seasonal stories wrap up in week 6 of a Season). The Catalyst will be available on the 17th of January 2023.

This Catalyst gives Revision Zero Fourth Time’s the Charm. Rapidly landing precision hits will return two rounds to the magazine, allowing you to keep firing without reloading. This is perhaps the perk to pick if you plan on using Revision Zero in PvE, especially Raids or Grandmaster Nightfalls.

You will always want to try and hit the head or critical spot to charge Hunter’s Trace. Now, with Fourth Time’s the Charm, not only do you get to build up to a super powerful Sniper shot, but you also keep reloading the magazine, allowing you to hit more precision hits and gain more charges. This is a perfect feedback loop which, once again, ignores the terrible base reload speed of the weapon.

Should You Choose to Accept It Part 4

Upon completion of Step 53 of More Than A Weapon, you will receive Should You Choose to Accept It Part 4. This is the final Should You Choose to Accept It Quest, and it will award the 4-Timer Refit Catalyst for your Revision Zero.

The final set of Quest Steps are:

  1. Return to the Diocles Annex and download a cryptographic index.
  2. Travel to the Cosmodrome for further instructions.
  3. Decrypt Passcode Cipher by completing patrols and defeating combatants in the Cosmodrome.
  4. Locate the dead drop in the Exodus Garden 2A Lost Sector of the Cosmodrome, and upload the cipher. Cipher: SHASKI
  5. Launch “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty and find the weapon schematic.
  6. Complete “Operation: Seraph’s Shield” on Legend difficulty to successfully obtain the catalyst.
  7. Visit a weapons expert to analyze the catalysts.
