Ghosts of the Deep is the newest Dungeon to join Destiny 2 in Season of the Deep. In it, Guardians venture back into the Archology of Titan to dive deeper into its churning methane sea and stop an act of madness occurring on the ocean floor. This new Dungeon is one of Bungie’s best yet, with engaging encounters, a gorgeous aesthetic and some beautifully haunting gear to go alongside it. As always, though, they’ve hidden a few secrets in the Dungeon including collectables (which you can find a guide on here) and two secret chests which award any perceptive enough to find them with bonus loot.
Knowing where to find these chests can be bothersome. They’re hidden in obtuse parts of the Dungeon, in the middle of jumping puzzles or in spots that are easily missed as you race towards the final encounter. You’re going to have to put on your sleuthing cap to get your hands on additional loot and we’re here to help you with that.
Here’s where to find both secret bonus chests in the new Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2.

Secret Chest 1
The first chest can be found after the first encounter but before the second. After descending deeper into the Archology, you will enter a series of jumping puzzles that move between indoor and underwater sections of the map. These include knowing how to navigate certain sections and finding air bubbles to survive for extended periods of swimming.
Eventually, you’ll make it to the sea floor. To exit this section, you need to pass through a massive wall of water, taking you into a nice safe air pocket. Before you jump off the edge towards this water wall, though, take a look slightly above it. There will be another different water wall leading to a separate passage, one which will lead you straight to the secret chest.
If you’ve already passed through the water wall, have no fear! You can still make it to this hidden section by doing some climbing from the ground using the nearby coral as leverage.
Secret Chest 2
The second secret bonus chest in Ghosts of the Deep is very late into the dungeon. It’s right before you enter the final boss arena after the second encounter.
After defeating Ecthar (the second encounter boss), you’ll be shepherded into a short underwater sequence. Then, you’ll pass through some Lucent Hive halls before coming onto a long corridor filled with Hive Wizards. This part has a bunch of jumps and enemies constantly shooting at you, so keep your cool and safely get through this sequence until the end.
Right before you jump over to the end bit of this long corridor, you’ll be met by a hoard of Hive and a major Ogre named the Keeper of the Deep. Behind this Ogre is a little Lucent Hive gazebo, sitting: the second secret chest is waiting patiently on top.
Secret Chest Bonus Loot
Secret chests in Dungeons and Raids act a little differently from how normal chests from either of these activities work.
Firstly, and most importantly, they will only drop the loot you previously acquired. If you have only gotten the Gloves and the Glaive, you can only get either of those from the chest. As such, if you’re hunting for a specific roll of a specific weapon, make sure you’ve got it in your loot pool before opening up either of these chests.
The second thing to note is how often you can acquire these chests. While Ghosts of the Deep is the pinnacle Dungeon, you can run it over and over again for new loot from the main encounter chests. This loot won’t be the pinnacle, but it can be new weapons or armour you previously didn’t get. However, the bonus chests work differently: these can only be claimed once per week per character. If you have three characters, this gives you 6 additional pieces of loot per week.
As for the actual loot you can get, this includes any of the Dungeon loot from the actual encounters. This includes the new Archology-themed weapons – the Submachine Gun, Glaive, Grenade Launcher or Rocket Launcher – as well as the Lucent Hive-themed Taken King armour sets for each class. As we mentioned, these have to have been acquired previously before they will drop from bonus chests.
And that was where to find both of the secret chests in the new Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2.
