Destiny 2 | All Ghosts of the Deep Memory Locations

This guide will show you where to find all of the Memories of Darkness in the new Ghosts of the Deep in Destiny 2. Just like previous Dungeons, Ghosts of the Deep has many hidden collectibles to find, all of which give a new piece of dialogue from Xivu Arath and increase your Exotic drop chance for The Navigator once you've found them all. Learn where to find all 12 here.

Destiny 2 | All Ghosts of the Deep Memory Locations

Ghosts of the Deep is the newest Dungeon to join Destiny 2 in Season 21. It’s a fantastic Dungeon and, just like almost all of its predecessors, it is chock-full of secrets for Guardians to unearth. We’ve already touched on the two secret chests in the Dungeon which drop additional loot, but the other major secret is a series of collectables scattered throughout the Dungeon. These function similarly to the Devilish Recordings from Spire of the Watcher or the Repressed Memories from Duality, with each giving you a vocalised piece of lore from one of Destiny’s most famous characters.

The special collectable for the Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon is Memories of Darkness. These look like the Calcified Fragments from the Dreadnought in the original Destiny and recount the tales of Xivu Arauth, particularly her relationship with Oryx the Taken King. It’s really interesting to hear from her perspective and players will want to pick all of them up to obtain the In Memoriam Triumph, which is required for the Ghoul Title. In total, there are 12 Memory shards to collect, all of which are in strange and hidden locations all over the Dungeon.

Here’s where to find all 12 Memory of Darkness collectables inside the new Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2

Memory 1

The first Memory can be picked up as soon as you load into Ghosts of the Deep. From where you transmat in, head straight down the muddy path leading deeper into the Archology. Keep an eye out on the right side of the path as you should see a bundle of broken trees and branches not too far down.

Behind this patch of broken debris is a hole that leads into a deeper section of the Archology. There will be a long corridor with red lights leading down a set of stairs. The first Memory is in the room these stairs lead to, right next to a bench.

Memory 2

The second Memory can be found after the first encounter. Continue on the golden path until after you’ve jumped down a long elevator shaft and climbed through a hole in a chain-link fence. Usually, you would continue the mission by going down a tight circular corridor from this location.

Before that, though, look up and around you just after you pass the fence. You should spy an open window high up off the ground. Using your sweet Guardian jumps, platform your way up to this location to net yourself the next Memory in Ghosts of the Deep.

Memory 3

Memory 3 is found right before you begin your descent into the water segment of Ghosts of the Deep. After falling down several sections of the Archology, you’ll land in a corridor connected to a bright pink room with some Hive waiting in ambush right after it.

This pink room has the next Memory you need. Hop up onto the plants and broken screens and then jump over to the left. The third Memory is on top of an outcropping of the wall in this room.

Memory 4

Defeat the Hive after the pink room where you got Memory 3 and you’ll be given access to an elevator shaft that leads further down into the Archology. This then leads to further drops before taking you directly to the underwater segment.

Before jumping down, though, stay put after you fall down the first elevator shaft. There’s a spinning platform slowly rotating around a cylindrical object in the centre of the room: you need to carefully hop onto this platform and stay on it as it goes around the cylinder. The fourth Memory is on this cylinder, just make sure not to fall off before grabbing it.

Memory 5

The fifth Memory can be found as soon as you enter the underwater section for the first time. To progress through the Dungeon, you usually either jump out of a broken window at this section or down an elevator shaft with a blue light.

Don’t go down too deep yet as there are two other elevator shafts in this underwater room. One of them is completely sealed shut and you can’t enter: the other, though, is wedged just enough so that you can slip through and claim the Memory waiting on the other side.

Memory 6

Sticking with the underwater segment, the next four Memories are all found in the briny depths of Titan’s methane sea. Continue your descent, making sure to snag any necessary air bubbles along the way, until you reach the first safety checkpoint.

There will be a turbine waiting to jetsom you back into an indoor part of the Archology, giving you some temporary respite from the sea. Before riding it up into safety check the catwalks surrounding the turbine for the Memory. The sixth Memory of Darkness in Destiny 2 is at the end of one of these catwalks.

Memory 7

Venturing even deeper, the seventh Memory is stuck behind some glass as you reach a deeper part of the Archology that has been flooded. One of the windows has been smashed and you’re supposed to use this to jump to the catwalks below and get back into safety.

Exit the broken window and instead of jumping down, head to the left around the outside of the glass. There will be some air bubbles guiding your way and, after a short period of travel, you’ll find the seventh Memory resting peacefully against the glass.

Memory 8

The eighth Memory can be found once you’ve made it to the sea floor. Make it past the various elevator shafts, flooded rooms and perilous catwalks and you’ll reach the sea floor via another indoor area.

As soon as you touch down, turn around and look for a small outcrop in the opposite direction that you need to travel. The next Memory in Ghosts of the Deep is sitting there, easy for you to pick up.

Memory 9

The ninth Memory is the last one underwater, fortunately. It’s found after defeating a group of Hive in a small air pocket: you’ll need to do some more underwater platforming before arriving at a ledge overlooking the massive Hive ship in the distance.

Usually, you would go left at this bit to traverse closer to the wreckage. Instead, go right. There’s a small path here marked by coral that will take you straight to the ninth Memory.

Memory 10

Now that we’re back on (somewhat) dry land, you need to venture into the wreckage of this Hive mega-ship.

Eventually, you’ll come across a section with a bunch of holes in the wall that drops you into different parts of a connected room. In that room are several more holes gushing water, and the tenth Memory is sitting behind a metal grate inside one of these very holes.

Memory 11

The penultimate Memory is found after you defeat the second encounter boss, Ecthar. You’ll enter another, very brief, underwater section upon defeating this boss, culminating in a drop down a hole.

While it may be tempting to rush off, when you exit this hole, look to your left to find a massive metal gate. The eleventh Memory is hiding beside it, right next to a pool of gushing water.

Memory 12

The final Memory in Ghosts of the Past can only be looted once you’ve beaten the final encounter. Upon killing Simmumah ur-Nokru, the Lucent Necromancer, you’ll be given roughly 600 seconds to explore the remains of the Taken King and the general encounter arena.

At this time, head through the topmost water walls and towards where the Lightbearer Acoloyte can be found during the encounter. This area is a big cave with a small pool of water at the back, where the Acoloyte usually spawns. Now that the actual encounter is complete, there will be a Deepsight puzzle waiting for you here, instead.

Completing this puzzle will open up a hidden passageway that takes you deeper into the cave system. At the end of this passage will be the twelfth, and final, Memory in Ghosts of the Deep in Destiny 2

That was where to find all 12 Memories of Darkness in the new Ghosts of the Deep Dungeon in Destiny 2
