Caravan SandWitch: Where to Find All Robots’ Consciousnesses

Locating all the robots' consciousnesses in Caravan SandWitch can be tricky, since they're all underground and need work to be accessed, so this guide will show you where all 5 robots and their consciousnesses are and how to complete the task set by the robots at the Refuge.

Caravan SandWitch Where to Find All Robots' Consciousnesses

In Caravan SandWitch, you’ll meet a lot of interesting characters in Cigalo. Humans, frogs… and robots. You’ll encounter a small group of them when you visit a place called the Refuge. They’re gathering the consciousness of abandoned robots to put into a single server. The robots Turing and Lamarr ask for you, Sauge, to collect more consciousnesses for them by finding abandoned robots around Cigalo. Seems simple enough, right? Well, it sort of is. What makes it a little trickier is that all the robots you need to find are underground. These places in Cigalo aren’t easy to get to, but once you do find your way underground, you then have to find the robots. Altogether, there are 5 of them. This may not be the most straightforward of tasks in Caravan SandWitch, so this guide should help you to locate all 5 robots and collect their consciousnesses.

If you’re looking for help in other aspects of Caravan SandWitch, we also have these guides:

How to Start the Forgotten Consciousnesses Task

The first thing you should know is you don’t get to this task until Chapter 4 of Caravan SandWitch, after you and Nefle have activated the first of the three receptacle relays at the top of the Aqueduct. During Chapter 4, your main task is to activate the receptacle connected to the first receptacle relay. Doing this leads you to the Refuge. You may have visited the Refuge before now, to shut down the signal jammer there, but you weren’t able to properly explore the Refuge because you didn’t have the right access. Now in Chapter 4, thanks to the hacker on your antenna tool, you can.

As you ascend the Refuge building, making your way up onto the first level, you’ll inadvertedly come across a group of robots. Three of them, to be exact. They’ll quiz Sauge about her presence at the Refuge, but they’re harmless. They then reveal one of their objectives: to gather the consciousnesses of abandoned machines to put into a server for a single body. That’s where Sauge – and you the player – come in. The robots request that you help them find these robots and retrieve their consciousnesses, in exchange for a reward.

Speak to the robots at the Refuge and they will give you a special task.

After this introduction, the task Forgotten Consciousnesses will appear in Toaster. It is not a timed-exclusive mission tied to Chapter 4. You have all the time you need to get this particular task done, just like Curry’s food gathering task, so don’t feel rushed. You also won’t be able to do it all in the same chapter. You’ll need to further upgrade your van and Sauge’s abilities to get to all the robots.

Where to Find All the Robots

Now let’s get down to business: finding all the robots and getting their consciousnesses from them. There are 5 robots altogether, scattered around Cigalo. There is a snag though: they can all only be found underground. There are a few places in Cigalo where you can access underground locations. For this task and this guide, we’ll focus on the places where you can find each of the 5 robots, in the order you will be able to do it. Also note that there’s only one robot in each underground place, so once you’ve found a robot somewhere, you’re done in that particular location and can move on. In most cases, you’ll come across robots as you complete story missions in Caravan SandWitch, but with other robots, they’ll be found elsewhere. We’ll mention these specific notes as we go along.

There’s one more thing you should know about locating the robots, something that should help you out. Whenever you go into an underground zone with a robot, it will be marked specially on the map. Use this to guide you towards the robot.

Robot consciousnesses are stored on you so you can take them back to the Refuge robots.

Supervisor Robot

The first of the five robots is found in the Refuge Cellars. This is the same place you have to visit when activating the first receptacle. Despite the name being Refuge Cellars, the entrance isn’t actually found at the Refuge itself (although the exit door leads to the Refuge). The entrance is at the Satellite Watchtower next door.

Hack in to the entrance to access the Refuge Cellars, possibly your first underground exploration in Caravan SandWitch.

Getting into the Refuge Cellars is easy. You just need to go to the door at the base of the tower where the receptacle relay is and hack the platform to gain access. Once inside, follow the tunnel to the right. Keep going until you see a ladder on your right. This leads to the receptacle – but that’s not where the robot is. The robot is in fact opposite the ladder, on your left. If you look, you should see it, just at the bottom of the ramp.

Speak to the robot, labeled the Supervisor, like you would any other character in Caravan SandWitch. Sauge and the Supervisor will exchange some words. The Supervisor even mentions Garance, the long-lost sister of Sauge who you’re looking for. The Supervisor robot allows you to transfer its consciousness onto Sauge’s server so she can take it back to the Refuge and the other robots. The consciousness will then appear in your inventory. That’s one robot down, now the other four to go.

Driller Robot

The second of the five robots you’re likely to encounter in Caravan SandWitch is in another underground location called Basements in Residential Areas. This is in an entirely different part of Cigalo, to the north-west of the desert, the entrance being a zone called Residential Area N-337. You’ll be visiting this area as you work on activating the second receptacle in Chapter 5, since it is located there. The Basements is also home to another robot, this time a Driller. However, it can be easy to miss them, unlike the first robot in the Refuge Cellars, since the Basements is much smaller.

In the Basements, you’ll work out where the receptacle is located due to all the cables going to it. The Driller robot is in a different section separate to the receptacle. It is sitting on a platform, not too far from an olive tree growing underground. It’s a big machine with a drill attached to an arm. Plus, you’ll be able to speak to it. Do so and you’ll bag yourself your second consciousness.

Transporter Robot

We’re on our third robot now. As you play through Chapter 6, the final chapter of Caravan SandWitch, you’ll be working on activating the last of the receptacles. This takes place in an underground section called the Underground Metro, which you access next to Rose’s Retreat. The Underground Metro is not only quite large, but also has two exits: the Hydropost and the Logitechpost.

Locating the third robot isn’t too difficult, as it’s not too far from the receptacle. When you find the receptacle, you should see a platform with a zipline going from it to across the room, where another platform is. At this other platform is a robot. A Transporter robot, to be precise. Before using the receptacle, be sure to zip across the line with your pulley and speak to the Transporter. You’ve just got yourself another consciousness!

Transformer Robot

The Transporter and Transformer robots sound similar in name, but are quite different. For one, the Transformer robot is located at the Storehouse for the Docks, for which the entrance is situated at Docks H-819. Unlike the previous 3 locations, you do not need to hack the platform to enter, neither do you access this area with the van. You do, however, need the pulley to use the zipline, which you only unlock at the start of Chapter 5. Without the pulley, you cannot reach the area where the fourth robot is located.

Once you whizz across the zipline and open the door, you’ll see a whole new area to explore. You need to make your way across the room, where a series of machines and computers are. To the right of this section, there’s a tall machine that stands out from the others. Interact with them and you’ll have your fourth of five consciousnesses.

Second Transporter Robot

The fifth and final robot with a consciousness you can obtain is actually another Transporter robot. This time, it’s found in the Labotech Basements, in which the entrance is located at the big Labotech building to the south-west of Cigalo. The door will not be available to open until you unlock the ability to use ziplines in Chapter 5 of Caravan SandWitch. There’s a pole you can attach the grapple hook to on the roof of the Labotech. You can then ride up onto the roof. At the back, above where the door is, there are two switches you need to push to activate the door. Then, you need to hack the door’s platform and you’ll be able to enter the Labotech Basements.

The Labotech has an underground entrance... which you cannot access until late in the game.

Deep in the Basements, this little robot can be found in a room all on its own. To get to it, you’ll need to use the energy cable on a socket around the back of the Basements (just beyond the large elevators) to power up a switch, and then go up the stairs nearby and press a few other switches to open the doors. You’ll then be able to go to the bottom on the other side and through the doorway to reach the robot. Go and speak to the lonely little Transporter robot, and it will willingly hand you its consciousness. You now have all 5 robot consciousnesses!

This lonely robot is found at the bottom of the Labotech Basement in an enclosed space.

How to Complete the Forgotten Consciousnesses Task

You now have all 5 robot consciousnesses to complete this task. You’re not quite done yet though. There’s just one last thing to do. With the 5 consciousnesses you’ve found, return to the robots at the Refuge. There’s a computer that you can interact with to input the consciousnesses. Doing this grants you some components as a reward for your efforts. It might not be much, but it’s better than nothing. Additionally, if you speak to the computer, you might get some information about Garance. Otherwise, this wraps up the Forgotten Consciousnesses task in Caravan SandWitch.
