How to Defeat Yellow Loong in Black Myth: Wukong

Understanding How Yellow Loong Fights

There are some key factors regarding how Yellow Loong fights that you need to know before you go on to face him at the Relief of the Fallen Loong Shrine. If you haven’t faced him already, Yellow Loong fights only with Lightning attacks. The minute you get close to him by the Keepers shrine, you will be met with a forward Lightning charge. This is how the beast will start his battle. After that, it’s all combos after combos; he will keep trying to slash you with his lightning weapon.

He has a total of 5 combos: Lightning Stab, Thunder Slam, Charge Burst, Triple Lightning Glaive Combo, and  Sweeping Thunder. All of the combos generally include attacks like Downward slashes, Somersault Slashes, Uppercuts, forward charges or 360 slashes. You may get an idea by now that he likes his opponent in front of him. Therefore, all you have to do is make the dodges timely, following his attack landing movements.

Moreover, there is also a special flying attack of his, which he does in 5 rounds, all coming quickly one after another. These flying lightning dashes can be very deadly, especially the middle three ones. If you fail to dodge those attacks in time, you will end up losing a lot of health by the fourth attack. It will be a matter of time before you get thrashed by his final AOE strike. You again have to keep a keen eye on Yellow Loong while he is in mid-air activating his attacks. All you have to do is spot when he readies his weapon and make the dodge on the other side.

By the final phase of the battle, when he is down to 30-40% of his health, he will become more hasty and increase the rate of his charges.

How to Prepare for Yellow Loong in Black Myth: Wukong

You don’t have to change much of Destined One’s build to take down Yellow Loong. You can keep your equipment pretty similar to what you already have, but keep in mind that the fate of the battle will heavily depend on how you utilise your heavy attacks. Make sure you have the proper means to enhance Focus point generation and have the extra fourth point. Moreover, dodging will be one of the most crucial parts of the Yellow Loong fight, so make sure you have the relevant skills to dodge quickly. Let’s take a look at what you might go for if you want to make a build, especially to beat Yellow Loong.

Any High-level staff like the Spider Celestial Staff, along with a Fireproof Mantle, will work fine. For your Spirit, you could go with Red-Haired Yaksha or Tiger’s Acolyte, which are equipped with increased Critical Hit or Attack Damage. I would suggest you equip the Ebongold Silk Robe, as it helps you sneak around Yellow Loong and land attacks. Using Jade Moon Rabbit and Cat Eye Beads are also recommended as they respectively reduce damage and increase Critical hit chance; the latter you will need for your heavy attacks.

For the spells, I highly suggest you take “Ring of Fire, as standing inside the spell ring increases your Focus generations and also regenerates health. If possible, max out the Ring of Fire tree to enjoy its benefits to the fullest. Also, you might want to equip the Hubris Nose Relic, as its “In One Breath” benefit will help you charge up the fourth Focus point inside the Ring of Fire. The next recommended spell, “Cloud Step”, is the most efficient means of evading Yellow Loong’s charges, so maxing out its tree is also advised. Moreover, try getting the “A Pluck of Many” spell, as it will help you hugely in the last part of the battle. You will have to use the spells, especially the first two ones, multiple times during the fight, which will require a lot of mana. That is why you should take the “Jade Essence drink in your Gourd. A few sips of the drink will regenerate your mana instantly.

Last but not least, take the Smashing Stance as your Staff Stance, as it will ensure an ample number of heavy attacks and damage. Ensure you have your Crit damage and Crit chance maxed in your Foundation.

How to Beat Yellow Loong

Now that you know how Yellow Loong fights and you’re fully prepared, defeating him will be a walk in the park as long as you stay patient. The formula for beating Yellow Loong in Black Myth: Wukong lies in dodging his lightning charges and frequently landing heavy attacks for critical hits.

Black Myth: Wukong Ring of Fire

Black Myth: Wukong Ring of Fire

The first thing you will do after you meet Yellow Loong in the battle arena (Keep a distance from him after you arrive in Relief of the Fallen Loong Shrine) is charge up your Focus and head straight to him to land a Heavy Attack. This way, you will not only evade his first attack but also take him by surprise. After that, immediately build your first “Ring of Fire” away from him and stand inside it to speed up your second Focus Point generation and Health regeneration. Keep rotating this process and use as many Heavy Attacks as you can. The plan is to go after Yellow Loong as aggressively as possible so that you can quickly cut his health down to 50% in the first few moments. In the meantime, keenly observe his movements to detect his upcoming combo attacks so that you can dodge them at the right time.

If you lose your first Ring of Fire, it will be a while till you can build the second one, so during this time, use your “Cloud Step” and land cheeky attacks on him. He will start attacking you hastily by the time his health bar falls below 50%, which then will be the perfect opportunity for you to use your “A Pluck of Many” spell and pressure him as much as possible. Finally, use your Spirit and finish him off once and for all.
