Starting the Fox Quest in Black Myth: Wukong

To meet the fox, continue through Chapter 3 until you reach the Valley of Ecstasy, which is near the end of the chapter. After sliding down a snowy slope, you’ll find yourself in the Forest of Felicity. On the left side of the Forest of Felicity Keeper’s Shrine, you’ll spot a skeletal body slumped against a post at the beginning of a wooden path.

Interact with the body to uncover the story of the fox spirit that is trapped within him. As you engage with the fox, you’ll learn about its past—how it was caught in a hunter’s trap, rescued by a young scholar, and ultimately killed by the same scholar despite the fox’s attempts to help him. Driven by revenge, the fox has tracked down the scholar, who is now a monk at the New Thunderclap Temple, a place you’ll soon visit.

After hearing the full story, examine the body again. The fox will plead with you to wear its fur and confront the monk. You’ll then automatically transform into the fox and receive a special item called the Snow Fox Brush.

NOTE: You’ll revert to your original form if you’re hit. However, you can rest anywhere and use the Snow Fox Brush to return to fox form.

Heading to the New Thunderclap Temple

Your next destination is the New Thunderclap Temple, but you can’t head there immediately. On your first visit, you’ll need to defeat a boss named Captain Kalpa-Wave located at the temple entrance. Don’t worry, though—the fight isn’t too difficult. Once that’s done, you can activate the Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine. From the shrine, head right and then proceed down to the building ahead.

Once you’ve beaten the boss, activate the Temple Entrance Keeper’s Shrine. From there, go right, and you’ll spot two large staircases. Take the left staircase all the way to the top, then head left again to find another set of stairs. Go down these stairs and enter the building you see.

As you enter the building, stay on the right side and go up the stairs. This will lead you to the top floor. Once there, exit through the door on the right to step onto the balcony. From the balcony, you’ll see staircases—just head up those stairs.

This will lead you to the temple where the monk is located. At this point, you’ll need to switch to fox form. This will activate a cutscene and initiate the boss fight against the Yaoguai Chief Non-Void. To transform, use the Snow Fox Brush from your inventory, then enter the temple.

Fighting the Non-Void Boss

When you enter the temple, you’ll encounter the boss, Non-Void, who can be quite challenging due to his ranged attacks. He’s not overly difficult, but his frequent disappearing acts can be tricky. To reduce this, try using an aggressive approach. However, be alert, especially when he performs his paper attack, which is particularly challenging to dodge.

Start the fight by using the Immobilize spell to get some free hits in. Then, switch to the Red Tides transformation to inflict damage over time with the Burn status effect.

When the boss’s HP drops to half, it will enter a second phase where it starts summoning projectiles from scripture pages. These projectiles will fly in on you, so you’ll need to focus on dodging them effectively.

His most powerful attack involves creating a tornado of papers that will chase you around the temple. You can either dodge or run away from it, but he might use it to close in on you. As the attack ends, the papers will begin to fall, creating a brief moment when he stays mostly still. This is your chance to immobilize him or rush in to deal as much damage as possible.

Managing your stamina is crucial during the fight. Fortunately, the Non-Void will give you some time to strike, so use the recovery period after his big attacks to your advantage.

After defeating the Non-Void boss, you’ll receive the following drops:

  • 1174 Will
  • 1 Tonifying Decoction
  • 2 Cold Iron Leaves
