Whether it’s the venomous stinger of the Scorpionlord or the mighty horns of the Bull King, the Destined One can make use of these items to craft a variety of powerful weapons and armour. What are Loong Pearls in Black Myth: Wukong?

Loong Pearls are a special type of crafting material in Black Myth: Wukong which drop exclusively from Loong bosses. Loong is the name for a Chinese dragon, and several of these fearsome and mystical beasts can be found and confronted throughout the game.

You can use crafting materials to create new weapons and armour sets for the Destined One and the Loong Pearls are no different. Gather enough of them and you’ll be able to craft a ridiculously strong weapon, one that is in contention for the best in the entire game.

“Shining brightly and dazzling in colour, this loong pearl once adorned a loong’s chin. Its purpose lingers in mystery, likely to unfold in times ahead.”

There are five Loong Pearls to collect in a single playthrough of Black Myth: Wukong. One of the Loong Pearls is an item all players will obtain as they battle through the main campaign, whereas the other four are tied to an intricate and secret quest.

The first Loong Pearl is the only one disconnected from the Four Loongs questline. Instead, you’ll receive it as a reward for defeating Kang-Jin Star, one of the mid-level mandatory bosses in Chapter 3, the New West. Kang-Jin Star is the human version of Kang-Jin Loong, the first major boss of Chapter 3, and she’s a deadly opponent who, like the other Loongs, wields fearsome lightning against her foes. Defeating her will not only let you progress through the story but she’ll also drop the first Loong Pearl.

Meanwhile, you get the final four Loong Pearls from defeating the Four Loongs. The Four Loongs are the Red Loong, Black Loong, Cyan Loong, and Yellow Loong and they’re a series of tough bosses tied to The Sire and Sons hidden questline. This is easily one of the most secret quests in the entire game and you won’t even be able to start it until you manage to find the ancient Loong Scales. There is one Loong for each of the first four chapters and you kill them in order:

  • Black Wind Forest: Red Loong
  • Yellow Wind Ridge: Black Loong
  • The New West: Cyan Loong
  • Webbed Hollow: Yellow Loong

How to Use Loong Pearls in Black Myth: Wukong

So, now that you have the Loong Pearls in your inventory, how can you use them in Black Myth: Wukong? The Loong Pearls are Special Crafting Material but, during your first playthrough, you won’t be able to spend them on anything. Even the Loongwreathe Staff and the Golden Loong Staff – the weapons you can craft using the resources dropped from the Four Loongs – do not need the Loong Pearls.

Instead, you can use the Loong Pearls to create the Stormflash Loong Staff. This is a mythic-rarity staff that is only available in New Game + which you create from the base of the Willow Wood Staff. With 140 Attack and 9% Critical Chance, the Stormflash Loong Staff is one of the strongest weapons in all of Black Myth: Wukong, and that’s without looking at its unique effect. While charging, you will draw in Thunder and inflict Thunder Damage with every staff attack while you are in the Shocked State.

However, crafting the Stormflash Loong Staff still takes a good deal of time because you actually need 9 Loong Pearls; as such, even if you grabbed all five Loong Pearls from all of the Loong bosses, you’ll need to beat them again in New Game +. Your first opportunity to create the Stormflash Loong Staff will be after defeating the Cyan Loong in Chapter 3 of New Game + as, by that point, you’ll have the opportunity to rechallenge the Red and Black Loongs as well as Kang-Jin Star.

The full list of materials used to create the Stormflash Loong Staff in Black Myth: Wukong is as follows:

  • Loong Pearl x9
  • Gold Tree Core x4
  • Kun Steel x2
  • Will x45,000
