All Frog Boss Locations in Black Myth: Wukong

Black Wind Forest Frog Location (Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan)

The very first frog boss you’ll come across in Black Myth: Wukong is Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan. You’ll find this fearsome foe in the Black Wind Forest, the main area of Chapter 1. To be more specific, you’ll find him treading around the marshy water in the Bamboo Grove sub-area.

To find Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan, travel to the Snake Trail Keeper’s Shrine. Once you arrive, look over to the left of the Shrine and you’ll find a broken log beneath a rough stretch of rock and a broken statue, one just short enough for you to hop over. On the opposite side of these rocks is the end of a small stream and, if you follow the water back to its source, you’ll find a large open clearing covered in reeds. Stepping into the clearing will summon Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan, the first frog boss in the game.

Compared to his brothers, Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan is relatively basic as far as the frog bosses come. His most dangerous attacks include his powerful backward kicks – which he’ll often execute if you stand behind him for too long – as well as the grab he’ll perform with his tongue. Fortunately, Baw-Li is very susceptible to Immobilize and you can spam the Heavy Attack of the Red Tide Transformation to dash through the frog, dealing heavy damage to it while avoiding most of its blows safely. Additionally, when the fight begins, there will be several smaller Frog Yaoguai hiding in the reeds who can become a nuisance if left alone so take care of them before challenging Baw-Li properly.

For defeating Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan, you’ll receive two important items alongside a surplus of Will. The first is the Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang Spirit, allowing you to transform into the crazed frog martial artist to lash enemies with a massive amount of damage. Baw-Li-Guhh-Lang’s Spirit also reduces the Stamina cost for Jumps and Jump Attacks, making it a fun way to change how you play. You’ll also receive the Tadpole Material, something all six of the frog bosses drop and we’ll reveal what they are used for at the end of this guide.

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan, The First Frog

Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan, The First Frog

Yellow Wind Ridge Frog Location (Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw)

With the first frog down, it’s time to move on to Chapter 2 and the Yellow Wind Ridge to find Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw, the second frog boss. In a stroke of luck, Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw is early on in the level, appearing closest to the Sandgate Village sub-area.

Beginning at the Village Entrance Keeper’s Shrine, turn around and look for a break in the ravine next to a fallen tree. Follow this ravine and, shortly after, you’ll find yourself on a cliff edge overlooking a pool of muddy brown water, a pool where the large yellow form of Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw is waiting patiently.

Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw is the first frog to have an elemental alignment, in this case, Shock. While most of Lang-Li’s attacks are similar to Baw-Li’s, he has two attacks which deal deadly Shock Damage. The first is his tongue whip which strikes the area in front of him four times, dealing Lightning damage with each. The second, and far more deadly, attack is when Lang-Li shrieks, unleashing lightning from within his body; at this point, bolts will rain down from the sky, shocking the entire arena. At this point, you’ll have access to both Cloud Step and your Spirit attacks which, when combined with your Transformation, should make this fight relatively easy, so long as you can avoid being Shocked.

Alongside the Tadpole, defeating Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw will also award you with the recipe for Evil-Repelling Medicine, a useful type of consumable which considerably increases Damage Reduction for a long duration.

Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw, The Second Frog

The New West Frog Location (Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang)

Unlike the previous two frogs, Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang, the frog boss associated with Chapter 3 and The New West, is found pretty late into the level, appearing in the Valley of Esctasy sub-location.

Start your search at the Forest of Felicity Keeper’s Shrine. Upon arriving, turn around and walk back down the path you came down while keeping an eye on the rocks to your right. Eventually, a gash in the mountain big enough for you to traverse through will become visible. Enter the ravine and, on the other side will be a frozen lake and a very cold Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang.

As you may expect, Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang is the ice-aligned frog who will inflict you with Chill. The most deadly attack up in his arsenal is where he summons a legion of ice spikes around the arena. Shortly after, he’ll leap into the air and come crashing back down, shattering all of the spikes and dealing immense damage if you’re hit by either him or the exploding ice.

He has a similar attack where he jumps towards you before slamming the ground, creating a ring of sharp ice shards in a doughnut shape around him. However, at this stage of the game, he’ll be relatively easy to deal with, especially if you’ve been keeping up with your armour and weapon upgrades.

Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang, The Third Frog

Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang, The Third Frog

Webbed Hollow Frog Location (Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw)

The frog boss of the Webbed Hollow, Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw, is honestly probably the hardest frog to track down in all of Black Myth: Wukong. Baw-Li can be found within the main area of Chapter 4, which is also known as the Webbed Hollow.

Make your way through the creepy crawlies until you arrive at the Lower Hollow Keeper’s Shrine, one of the last Shrines in this area. Upon reaching the Shrine, turn around and wade back through the hanging army of Crawling Cocoons and look along the wall until you see a bright hole cut that you can crawl through. This path leads to one of the Webbed Hollow’s Meditation Spots but, more important for our purposes, it also leads to the arena where you battle Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw. Simply continue down the linear path until you arrive in a waterlogged cave covered in broken Buddha statues.

Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw is arguably the most unique frog boss in Black Myth: Wukong because, in place of a tongue, he has a long creepy arm. In fact, this is the same arm seen on the Right Hand of the Buddha boss fight earlier in the level. Baw-Li will continue to use many of the frog’s standard tongue attacks, only they will be much stronger on account of his new appendage. He’s also the frog associated with Poison and he will spew it all around the arena in one of his attacks, leaving AoE puddles which will Poison you if you stand in them for too long.

For defeating Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw, you’ll get your usual Tadpole as well as the Left Hand of the Buddha. You can use this item in conjunction with the Right Hand of the Buddha, which you get from the mandatory boss of the same name, to obtain a shiny new Gourd called the Immortal Blessing Gourd.

Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw Fight

Flaming Mountains Frog Location (Baw-Lang-Lang)

Baw-Lang-Lang is up there with Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw when it comes to being difficult to find. The frog boss of the Flaming Mountains, this fiery amphibian is lurking in the most out-of-the-spot, somewhere most players will completely miss him, even if they take the time to unlock the area.

To be more specific, you’ll find Baw-Lang-Lang near the Cooling Slope Keeper’s Shrine in the Field of Fire, which is the Shrine closest to the entrance of Chapter 5’s Secret Area. Unfortunately, even though Baw-Lang-Lang isn’t found in the Bishui Cave, you will still need to complete the Five Elemental Carts questline to unlock the Chapter 5 Secret Area and battle him, as the frog is trapped behind the massive gate of ice. The only way to unlock this gate is to defeat all Five Elemental Carts and complete their associated questline for the Pale-Axe Stewart (who you’ll find at the start of the Flaming Mountains). You can learn more about defeating one of the Elemental Carts in our Horse Guai quest guide here on KeenGamer.

Once all five of the Elemental Carts have been dealt with, the ice wall next to the Cooling Slope Keeper’s Shrine will give way to reveal the entrance to the hidden Bishui Cave. However, before entering the Secret Area by touching the massive staff on the ground, look over to the far side of the cave and you should see the froggy form of Baw-Lang-Lang, the fifth frog boss in Black Myth: Wukong.

To nobody’s surprise, Baw-Lang-Lang is the frog of fire, allowing him to inflict you with Burn which causes damage over time similar to Poison. Baw-Lang-Lang’s deadliest move is similar to the lightning attack from Lang-Li-Guhh-Baw where he will stand up on his hind legs and shoot out a barrage of meteoric flaming rocks from his mouth. These rocks will pelt the entire arena, dealing high damage and inflicting a lot of Burn if they hit you. However, if you’ve beaten the Yaksha King, this fight will be nothing for you.

He, like the other frogs, will award you with a Tadpole upon his defeat.

Baw-Lang-Lang Fight

Baw-Lang-Lang Fight

Mount Huagoa Frog Location (Lang-Baw-Baw)

The final frog boss you’ll come across in Black Myth: Wukong is Lang-Baw-Baw, the toughest of the six frogs. As expected, you’ll find him in the final major area of the game, Mount Huagoa, in the Foothills sub-area which makes up most of Chapter 6.

The best place to start your search is the Rhino Watch Slope Keeper’s Shrine, which is near where you’ll fight the Golden Rhino to claim the first piece of Sun Wukon’s Golden Armour. As soon as you arrive, hop onto the Somersault Cloud and then dive over the nearby cliff edge. Near the base of the cliff you were just on, you should be able to see a small brown stretch of empty rock nestled into the corner of the mountainside. This is where Lang-Baw-Baw awaits you.

Lang-Baw-Baw is an especially tough boss because, well, he can make himself nearly invulnerable to your attacks. Similar to Yellowbrow from the end of Chapter 3, Lang-Baw-Baw can harden his entire body, making your attacks bounce harmlessly off his body while also making them deal next to no damage. What makes things worse is that Lang-Baw-Baw won’t cease his attacks while in this state, meaning that you’ll have to go on pure defence to keep yourself from dying. On top of this, Lang-Baw-Baw boasts incredible offensive power which can easily strip your health bar if you aren’t careful and he has control over stone, with many of his attacks creating pillars of tough earth that will deal massive damage.

There are two main methods of defeating Lang-Baw-Baw’s hardened state. The first is to simply wait out the timer; even if it takes a while, Lang-Baw-Baw can only retain his stoney stance for so long and, if you survive for that duration, you can go back to whaling on him. The other method is to overwhelm him with attacks and force him out of the stage early, which will stagger him. While the Destined One’s ordinary staff attacks will all bounce off of the frog’s body, your Spells won’t, making your Spirit Attacks and Transformations an excellent way to force Lang-Baw-Baw out of his stance early.

At the end of the gruelling battle, Lang-Baw-Baw will fall and you’ll be awarded with The Clamor of Frogs achievement or trophy, which is required to 100% Black Myth: Wukong. He’ll also drop the Celestial Birthstone Fragment, a Legendary Curio which ignores the enemy’s Four Banes Reistance whenever you deal elemental damage. Alongside that, you’ll get a spool of Gold Thread as well as the last Tadpole.

How to Use Tadpoles in Black Myth: Wukong

So, what do the Tadpoles actually do in Black Myth: Wukong? Well, you use them to upgrade the Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan Spirit.

Alongside Will, the frog Spirit requires you to have a certain amount of Tadpoles to increase its level. With each Tadpole consumed, Baw-Li-Guhh-Lan will get much, much stronger, eventually becoming one of the only Mythic-tier Spirits at max level.

What’s even more interesting is that the Frog Spirit’s Tongue Whip attack will change as you feed him more Tadpoles. For each Tadpole consumed, the Spirit will randomly assume the form of one of the defeated frogs. So, if you’ve already beaten the Black Wind Forest, Yellow Wind Ridge, and New West frogs, your Spirit’s attack has the chance to inflict Shock or Chill damage. At max level, you will randomly deal Shock, Frost, Poison, Burn, or Physical Damage whenever you cast the Spirit. This pairs excellently with several elemental weapons, as well as the Celestial Birthstone Fragment you get from defeating Lang-Baw-Baw.

That was where to find all six frog bosses for The Clamor of Frogs achievement in Black Myth: Wukong.
