Black Myth: Wukong | All Buddha's Eyeball Locations and How to Use Them (Shigandang Secret Boss Fight)Despite being relatively linear, Black Myth: Wukong is full of secrets and mysteries to unearth. From entire hidden areas locked behind obtuse mechanics and sequences to powerful weapons sequestered away in dark corners, there’s a lot for the Destined One to find. One of the most intriguing discoveries players will make in the earlier portions of Black Myth: Wukong are the Buddha’s Eyeballs in the Yellow Wind Ridge, the second main area of the game.

The Destined One can pluck the Buddha Eyes from several special statues hidden around the Yellow Wind Ridge. These statues each make a special noise and grant one Buddha Eye for each you find. If you’re able to find all six of these statues, you can use the Buddha Eyes to summon a special secret boss which, when beaten, will grant you many enticing rewards, including the materials for a powerful new staff.

Here’s where to find all six Buddha Eyeballs in Black Myth: Wukong and where to use them to unlock the Shigandang secret boss fight.

Buddha’s Eyeball 1 Location

The first Buddha Eyeball can be found in a broken statue on the side of the path near where you bested the Rock Vanguard. From the Rock Clash Platform Keeper’s Shrine, turn around and head straight.

Eventually, you’ll pass under the massive gate on the edge of the boss arena, once you do, keep an eye out on the right side of the path. Soon, you will find the broken visage of a Buddha’s head next to a tall pillar. Interact with the head and claim your first Buddha’s Eye.

Buddha’s Eyeball 2 Location

The second Buddha’s Eyeball is probably the hardest to track down in Black Myth: Wukong. From the first Buddha head, continue down the path until you reach the Rockcrest Flat Keeper’s Shrine. Once you arrive, turn around and head into the dark cave directly next to the Shrine

Near the start of the cave, you’ll find a slope to the right which you should take. This path will eventually lead you to a small optional boss encounter against the Mother of Stones, a massive earthly monster who is being guarded by a small legion of Palestones and Poisestones.

Whether you battle the Mother of Stones is up to you but, once you reach the boss, look around for a break in the wall to the outside. Step into the light and you’ll find yourself on a narrow path which leads to an elevated stone platform adorned by the second broken Buddha head

To reach the third Buddha Eye, return to the Rockcrest Flat Keeper’s Shrine. This time, go left down the valley passageway instead of into the cave. There will be a Spearbone guarding the path which you must dispatch.

After beating the Spearbone, keep going straight down this path which will eventually lead to the Squall Hideout Shrine. However, on your way there, you’ll stumble across the third broken Buddha’s head on the pathway.

The fourth Buddha’s Eyeball in Black Myth: Wukong is very easy to find. Keep making your way through the valley until you reach the Squall Hideout Keeper’s Shrine.

Once you find the Shrine, simply turn around the broken visage of the sixth Buddha head will be buried in the sand a short distance away. Walk on over and claim your fourth Buddha Eye.

Buddha’s Eyeball 5 Location

The fifth broken Buddha head is located a bit further down the valley. While looking at the Squall Hideout Keeper’s Shrine, take the right path and start heading back towards the valley you just came from (this area has a wandering Spearbone nearby). Keep going until you reach a set of stairs adorned by a golden chest. From here, you just need to climb the staircase.

The path to the Buddha’s head is guarded by several Blazebones, the corpse-like enemies which spit at you from long range. Fortunately, they’re easy enough to avoid and dispatch. Follow them up the rickety wooden stairs and, eventually, you’ll reach a wide elevated wooden platform with two Blazebones guarding the fifth Buddha head.

As for the final Buddha Eye, return to the Squall Hideout Keeper’s Shrine. This time, make your way towards the left path which takes you near the darker cave interior. After passing a pestering Blazebone, as well as a charging Palestone, you’ll pass under a gate which takes you to the mouth of the cave.

However, instead of entering it, turn around and head up the nearby slope. Illuminated by nearby candlelight, you’ll find the last Buddha head. Interact with it to extract the last Buddha Eyeball you need.

How to Use the Buddha’s Eyeballs

With all six Buddha Eyes in your possession, a mysterious noise will ring out across the Yellow Wind Ridge. This will signify that you’ve collected them all and that you can use them to unlock a secret boss fight.

If you return to where you fought the Rock Vanguard boss (which is next to the Rock Clash Platform Keeper’s Shrine), you’ll find a massive chunk of oddly shaped rock in the Rock Vanguard’s place. This is where you need to socket the Buddha’s Eyeballs.

By returning all six of the Buddha’s Eye to the stone, you will awaken the dormant beast within. This will start the Shigandang secret boss fight, a tough enemy made of sturdy stone and raw rage.

Shigandang Secret Boss Fight

Shigandang is a hulking stone humanoid adorned with several ghastly faces. It fights with an array of close-range attacks, including several charges and leaps which can easily catch you off guard if you’re not ready for them.

Most of the boss’ attacks are close range with a good deal of wind-up, giving you time to perfect dodge out of the way. However, several of its attacks do look similar to each other so be sure you know which attack is coming so you can appropriately respond.

The most brutal move in Shigandang’s repertoire is a long combo where it smashes the ground with its fists. It will hit the ground twice, once with each fist, before smashing both fists into the ground for its third attack. Not only does this deal a lot of damage but it will also spawn a cluster of rocks onto the field which explode after several seconds, dealing even more damage if you cannot escape their AoE.

Shigandang has a similar attack where it will slam into the ground with one side of its body, sending shockwaves across the arena which can be avoided by jumping or using the Pillar Stance Heavy Attack. Shortly after, the ground will glow a vibrant orange and then explode, dealing very high damage. For this, you’ll want to either dodge or use a defensive spell as punishing Shigandang will only lead to you taking high amounts of damage.

We recommend using Rock Solid as your defensive spell for this fight. Shigandang has a lot of moves which you can easily parry, opening up vital windows to punish it as you knock it back. Additionally, Pluck of Many is very useful here too as you can overwhelm Shigandang, lowering its health drastically in a matter of moments. As for your Spirits, Mad Tiger, the Wandering Wight, or the Spearbone can be good in this encounter as they deal an instant chunk of damage which can also stagger Shigandang, giving you an opportunity for damage.

Shigandang Rewards in Black Myth: Wukong

If you prevail against Shigandang in Black Myth: Wukong, you’ll receive several enticing rewards. First and foremost, you’ll get 1353 Will as well as 2 Yaoguai Cores and a Mind Core for defeating Shigandang.

More importantly, though, you’ll receive the Heart of Stone material. This can be used to craft a new staff for the Destined One called the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff, which is a completely separate weapon from the Destined One’s first staff. Compared to other weapons, the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff will increase Attack by 60 and Defence by 30, with its unique effect moderately increasing the Damage executed by charged Smash Heavy Attacks. Alongside the Heart of Stone, you’ll also need the following materials to craft the staff:

  • Heart of Stone
  • Yaoguai Core x4
  • Stone Spirit x8
  • Will x8100

Lastly, Shigandang will also grant you the Skandha of Feeling. This is the Skandha associated with the Yellow Wind Ridge location, similar to the Skandha of Thought from the Black Wind Mountain. You’ll need this item, as well as the other Skandhas, for later in Black Myth: Wukong.

That was where to find, and how to use, all of the Buddha Eyes in Black Myth: Wukong.
