Best Silver Samurai Decks in Marvel Snap

Silver Samurai is the latest new release in Marvel Snap and we take a look at the best decks he fits in. Discard isn't the only home for this mutant as he finds a place alongside Stature and Blackbolt as well. Not only that, but his ability serves as a counter to many turn 6 plays. Let's find out exactly what this talented swordsman has to offer.

Best Silver Samurai Decks in Marvel Snap.

Silver Samurai is the newest card in Marvel Snap and we’re highlighting the best decks to use him in. On the surface, this card seems like a pretty standard discard tool. However, discard decks are extremely consistent, therefore, we think he’s going to prove really useful! He is a 4-cost, 5-power that reads: On Reveal: Each player discards the lowest-power card from their hand. Targeted discards are rare and rightfully so! Being able to know which card gets discarded whilst also making your opponent discard a card is extremely valuable. Let’s take a look at the best Silver Samurai decks in Marvel Snap to see where he fits.

Zabu Value – Firesale Discounts All ‘Round!

The absolute best thing about this card’s stats is that it can be discounted by Zabu. Bringing Silver Samurai down to a 3/5 makes it so that you get the best bang for your buck. The deck list is as follows:

  • Korg
  • Zabu
  • Jeff (or Nightcrawler, Spider-Ham)
  • Daken (or Killmonger, Black Widow)
  • Captain Marvel (or Enchantress)
  • Miles Morales (or Iron Lad)
  • Rockslide
  • Shang-Chi
  • Silver Samurai
  • Darkhawk
  • Stature
  • Blackbolt

This deck acts as a Rocks ‘n’ Hawks variation that has a Stature package to go along with it. Basically, the goal is to move Jeff to discount Miles and use Silver Samurai or Blackbolt to discount Stature. Meanwhile, you’ve got a whole Darkhawk package featuring Captain Marvel just in case things get sticky and you need to resort back to the ol’ reliable.

Substitutes include Nightcrawler for Jeff and Enchantress for Captain Marvel. For those of you who do not own Daken, feel free to rework the deck completely and fit in a Dino or Ronan package instead. Maximus and Coulson then become very viable options to include if you want to go down that path. All in all, this is a solid deck that will get you a lot of wins. Silver Samurai doesn’t act as the glue whatsoever in this deck, however, he is a great piece to increase the consistency of Stature’s discount.

Discard – This Is Where You Belong, My Son

Traditional discard is a deck that’s been around for a long, long time. Following the addition of Silver Samurai, discard now has some fresh new tools to use whilst piloting this powerful deck. Before we begin, this is the deck list:

  • X-23 (or Blade, Nebula)
  • Colleen Wing
  • Morbius
  • Wolverine
  • Swarm
  • Sword Master
  • Lady Sif
  • Dracula
  • Silver Samurai
  • Modok
  • America Chavez
  • Apocalypse

Silver Samurai has plenty of value as he will aid in discarding your Wolverine, X-23, and Swarm. Not only that, but he’ll be buffing up your Morbius in the meantime. Just be careful not to discard Morbius or Dracula! Of course, there is an alternative way to play this deck that features Hela, Ghost Rider, Black Cat, Infinaut, and more. You are more than welcome to swap things around and create a more combo-centric version of the deck.

If you Modok on 5, you’re most likely left with a bunch of Swarms that you can play. Upon doing so, only Apocalypse should be in your hand, followed by Chavez when you draw her on 6. Then you are faced with a choice that depends on the state of the board; which card should you play and which card should you leave for Dracula? Besides, who doesn’t want to see Wolverine and Silver Samurai reunite!? Although this time, we hope it’s less violent, for the kids’ sake. (We’re looking at you X-23).

Over the Counter – Think Outside the Box

This is less of a deck and more of a list of cards that Silver Samurai can discard from your opponent’s hand that would prove beneficial to you. If you’re lucky, your fierce Samurai can end up hitting one of the following cards:

  • Mjolnir
  • Patriot
  • Cerebro
  • Green Goblin
  • Mystique
  • Darkhawk
  • Kang
  • Hobgoblin
  • Taskmaster
  • Iron Man
  • Devil Dino
  • Arnim Zola

Of course, these are just a few! Depending on your opponent’s deck, you could end up ruining their turn 6 play. This card seems like it could win you a lot of cubes by netting in retreats through discarding Cerebro, Patriot, etc. The amount of cards with low power that can be discarded cannot be understated! We’re talking Wong, White Tiger, Iron Heart, Leader, Super Skrull, Silver Surfer, and more. This can be especially useful in countering Mister Negative decks as they often include a lot of low-powered cards.

There is no need to play Silver Samurai in a ramp-style deck in order to cheat out his ability early. This is because you’ll probably end up playing him around turn 4, while most of the cards above are either high-cost or effective in a turn 6 combo play. Regardless, you could pair this sinister mutant with Wave, and Sandman, completely shutting down your opponent’s plans. In fact, you could even go as far as including him in control-style decks as a substitute for Legion if you do not have him.

The video below is brought to you by Marvelous Videos and it explains the origins of Silver Samurai.

In conclusion, we find that Silver Samurai is a card that has been overshadowed by the hype of X-23. However, following X-23’s release, destroy doesn’t feel as broken as we thought it would be. This begs the question; is now the time for discard to shine again? Honestly, we think he belongs more alongside Stature as a tech card that serves as a good counter for most turn 6 combos. Then again, Marvel Snap players are extremely creative so I wouldn’t rule out a cooler use being discovered down the line.

Fingers crossed this card exceeds expectations and isn’t another forgotten, niche card. If he meets an unfortunate demise and doesn’t find a lot of play, then we can hope for an OTA that adjusts his ability or stats. Until then, only time will tell if Silver Samurai will live up to his comic book strength.
