The final new card of December in Marvel Snap is Selene. She is a 1-cost, -1-power card with the ability: On Reveal: Afflict the lowest-Power card in each player’s hand with -3 Power. Yet again, the toxic junk archetype is getting some more love. Naturally, this card is a perfect fit in those deck lists being able to decrease the Goblins’ power. However, there are a few counters to this effect such as Luke Cage, Colussus, and Cosmo. Even Taskmaster and Dracula can resist this effect as they replace their power with another cards’. Regardless, to best utilize this card, we need to take a look at where exactly Selene fits best. That being said, these are the best Selene decks in Marvel Snap.

Below is the official Marvel Snap December season pass reveal trailer:
Selene Dion’s Trash – Annihilus Junk List
It is no mystery that Selene fits perfectly in Annihilus decks due to its negative infliction of power. However, not only does she fit in the deck but she truly elevates it to new heights. Selene possesses the ability to perform a huge power swing, ruining your opponents’ plays in the process. The deck list is as follows:
- Nebula
- The Hood
- Selene
- Psylocke (or Debrii)
- Black Widow
- Viper
- Green Goblin
- Shang-Chi (or Man-Thing)
- Sentry
- Hobgoblin
- Annihilus
- Doctor Octopus (or Spider-Woman, Alioth)
If you have The Hood, Selene, and Viper in hand, it would be a good decision to play Selene and then The Hood, eventually sending over a -6 Hood to the other side. Of course, the more obvious route is to simply hold onto Selene until you’ve got a Goblin in hand. However, you can get creative and play Selene on turn 5 with Nebula (if you draw Nebula late) and it’ll be a tiny bonus for your turn 6 Annihilus. Doctor Octopus’ purpose in this deck is to clog and if he yoinks a big card simply use your Shang-Chi. Sentry is great, as you can send over The Void consistently.
In terms of replacements, Debrii is incredibly useful if you want to clog up the board further. In fact, she also pairs nicely with a Hazmat or a Man-Thing. If you want to fully lean into the toxic side of things you can consider Typhoid Mary, Luke Cage, and even Spider-Woman. Alioth is also an option but ever since his recent nerf he is a bit worse in this deck. This is because generally speaking you do not have priority often as you’ve got a lot of negative energy on your side waiting to be sent over or destroyed at the end of the game.
Negative Affliction – High Evo List
High Evolutionary has always been relevant and ever since the nerf to Luke Cage, the archetype is safer than ever. Yet, in this list, it is advised to run Luke Cage to be safe from Hazmat and Selene in a specific lane. The idea is to get a discounted Abomination and She-Hulk for a huge turn 7 dump. You could include Moon Girl or even Leech. Here is the deck list:
- Sunspot
- Selene
- Hazmat (or Scorpion, Shocker)
- Luke Cage
- Cosmo
- Cyclops
- Magik
- High Evolutionary
- Shang-Chi (or The Thing, Moon Girl, Leech)
- Abomination (or Infinaut)
- She-Hulk
- Hulk
This variation of the Shenaut deck attempts to capitalize on the Abomination and She-Hulk discounts. That being said, feel free to run Leech instead of Shang-Chi or even Infinaut instead of Abomination. Regardless, this deck is incredibly consistent and powerful. This is because you can win without playing out your combo. A well-placed Cyclops with Sunspot and She-Hulk can win games pretty consistently. On average, you’re looking at a very decent win rate.
The Thing could be a solid inclusion in the list to further lean into the negative power infliction side of things. If you’re not rocking with Hazmat, then Scorpion could be interesting. Alternatively, Jeff is a great option due to his versatility and ability to access difficult locations. Some players might want to run Shocker to add to the ‘discount’ nature of the deck. Doing so would pair nicely if you decided to add a Quinjet/Moon Girl package as well. At the end of the day, feel free to customize the deck to your liking.
No Access – Lockdown List
Control and Lockdown have seen a resurgence as of late due to Ms. Marvel. This evolved into simply including a lockdown package into Thanos Blob decks. Unfortunately, that isn’t as powerful following the harsh nerf to Professor X. Regardless, you can still make Professor X work with Daredevil which is perfect seeing as we are looking to play other 5-cost cards such as Hobgoblin. This is the deck list:
- Nebula
- Selene
- Jeff
- Daredevil
- Polaris (or Negasonic, Spider-Man)
- Storm
- Green Goblin
- Juggernaut
- Jessica Jones (or Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, Klaw, Gamora)
- Professor X
- Hobgoblin
- Doctor Doom (or Alioth)
Right off the bat, Ms. Marvel works better in place of Jessica Jones in this list. This is because of her ability to spread power horizontally, giving you tools to work around your locked locations. However, not everyone has Ms. Marvel and we thought it would be cool to include Jessica Jones in a list as she doesn’t see much play despite her interesting recent buff. Polaris is great in moving 1-cost drops and Collectors out of the Storm-ed location or disturbing your opponent’s Ms. Marvel.
Daredevil is key as he allows you to safely play your Hobgoblin and Professor X. In fact, some players retreat when you snap after you see their plays via Daredevil. Of course, Storm into Juggernaut is such a reliable play that often guarantees that lane. In terms of replacements, if you do not have Ms. Marvel yet and do not want to play Jessica Jones, you could play Shang-Chi or Klaw. Negasonic is a viable option instead of Polaris and she is dropping into Series 3 next season as well! Alioth can be subbed in for Doom but Doom simply is more useful in the deck list.
That being said, these are the best Selene decks in Marvel Snap.
