The inverse Captain Marvel has made her way into Marvel Snap as Martyr. She is a 1-cost, 4-power card with the effect: at the end of the game, move to a location that LOSES you the game (if possible). Immediately, one can realize that this ability is pretty inconvenient. It is clear that the developers of the game included a negative effect to counteract the valuable stat line. However, as things stand, there isn’t really much reason to include her in decks over cards like Titania, Ebony Maw, Kitty Pryde, Sunspot, and Nebula. Regardless, every card in Marvel Snap has its uses and it is possible that future releases can aid this card’s viability. In the data mines, she was leaked as a 2-cost, 6-power, giving her a better stat line and making her immune to Killmonger. Unfortunately, she is now a 1-cost, 4-power, but worry not as she still finds a home in a few decks. That being said, these are the best Martyr decks in Marvel Snap.

Below is the official Marvel Snap PC launch trailer:
Mighty Martyr – Hit-Monkey List
In order to negate Martyr’s negative effect, one must clog up their own side of the board to prevent her from moving. As a result, a deck that plays a lot of low-cost cards is ideal in this situation. Hit-Monkey, Bounce, and Elsa decks are typically the best, all sharing similar packages. That being said, here is the deck list that we’ve conjured up:
- Wasp
- Martyr
- Forge (or Yellowjacket, Iceman, Nebula, Korg, Spider-Ham)
- Kitty Pryde
- Luke Cage
- Angela
- Elsa Bloodstone
- Shadow King
- Bishop
- Hit-Monkey
- Thor
- Jane Foster
We’ve decided to go with a Hit-Monkey and Thor hybrid package in order to compete with those high-scaling Werewolf By Nights. On top of that, Shadow King is able to deplete Werewolf’s gained power completely. Thor truly shines in this deck as it is perfect for countering all of the Ms. Marvel and Professor X shenanigans in the current meta. This is because you can add power into his locked-down lane later on by buffing him up using Mjolnir. Speaking of Professor X, his prevalence in the meta actually benefits Martyr as that is one less lane to worry about when it comes to her negative ability.
Ultimately, if you’re looking for replacements, Iceman, Nico Minoru, and Spider-Ham fit perfectly instead of Forge. In terms of two costs, any sort of tech card of your choosing will suffice. For example, you could include Jeff to access locked-off locations or simply add Lizard for power. Regardless, there are a plethora of cards to choose from, just use what you’re familiar with.
One final thing to note is that you can add Beast and Falcon instead of Thor and Jane Foster, and replace Wasp with another 1-drop. This allows for some amazing bounce gameplay, which can even be combined with Werewolf By Night if you so wish.
All American Dream – Patriot List
In a similar fashion to the previous deck, this list aims to clog the board whilst still racking up some insane numbers. Patriot is always reliable and this particular deck has a lot of replacement options you could go for, making it reliable and versatile! The deck list is as follows:
- Nebula (or Kitty Pryde)
- Martyr
- Mysterio (or Absorbing Man, Luke Cage, Shadow King, Squirrel Girl, Antman, Jeff)
- Mister Sinister
- Elsa Bloodstone
- Silver Surfer
- Patriot
- Debrii
- Mystique (or Iron Lad)
- Brood
- Blue Marvel
- Doctor Doom (or Ultron)
Ultron is a great shout to absolutely guarantee that Martyr does not move. However, this deck naturally fills up most locations anyway, so it isn’t an issue. Besides, Doctor Doom is way more useful in lockdown scenarios. Not only that, but the Doom-bots receive the buff from Patriot as well. Mysterio is basically your main flex spot, being able to be replaced by practically any card of your liking. Some good options include; Absorbing Man, Iron Lad, Jeff, Luke Cage, Shadow King, and Antman.
All in all, this deck is a very fun deck to pilot with many different win conditions and play patterns. On top of that, it fairs well against Annihilus because you are already clogging your side of the board earlier than they can play their Annihilus. Even if you do receive some rocks, you’ll be able to easily buff them up using Patriot and Blue Marvel. Finally, a cool inclusion could be Onslaught for further maximization of Patriot’s ability.
On All Fours – Cerebro List
Albeit not always meta, Cerebro is a fun deck that players enjoy piloting. Recently, a lot of Cerebro experimentation has been arsing, especially Cerebro 3 to counter Loki. That being said, there are also some players trying out Cerebro 2, 5, and 7. Unfortunately, Cerebro 4 hasn’t really been a considerable option due to the lack of 4-powered cards in the game. However, can Martyr be the missing piece needed to at least kickstart some Cerebro creativity? Let’s find out!
- Hawkeye (or Antman)
- Martyr
- Shadow King (or Ravonna Renslayer)
- Luke Cage
- Mystique
- Cerebro
- Captain Marvel
- Moon Girl (or Cable, Beast)
- Iron Man
- Klaw
- Blue Marvel
- Sera
Having both Captain Marvel and Martyr in the same deck simply feels poetic. By using Cerebro, players are able to buff Captain Marvel, making her ability all the more useful. In terms of essential cards, Shadow King and Luke Cage top that list. This is because they both help you maintain that 4-power on your cards. In terms of power, Iron Man, Klaw, and Blue Marvel act as a means to buff your cards without revoking the Cerebro effect. Finally, Sera can discount your cards, which when paired with Moon Girl, can deal some serious damage. Overall, this deck isn’t the most meta, but there is definitely a lot of fun to be had here.
That being said, these were the absolute best Martyr decks in Marvel Snap.
