Death Stranding includes 36 prepper bunker locations that Sam can deliver cargo to and extend the chiral network across North America. The game’s story missions within Sam’s orders direct you to most of them as you make your way across the American continent. However, there are six hidden (or secret) preppers Sam doesn’t get instructed to visit in the game’s narrative that many players will miss. This is how you can find the six hidden prepper locations in Death Stranding.

Ludens Fan
Ludens Fan is a prepper obsessed with a Ludens character from a video game. You can find this prepper on the Eastern Region map in a hilly area northeast of the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City. To find him, walk from the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City toward the Ludens Fan prepper location shown on the map directly below. This prepper is up a hill close to the Mule camp between Capital Knot City and the western Distribution Center.
To activate this prepper’s hologram, you’ll need to find and deliver a lost Ludens Fan cargo package to him. You can find some lost cargo of his close to the Ludens Fan bunker. Activate your scanner to scan the area surrounding the Ludens Fan bunker to find it.
Musician
The Musician is another hidden prepper location in Death Stranding within the Eastern Region. The best way to find him is to head in a southwesterly direction along the river from the Distribution Center West of Capital Knot City. Head toward the flowing waterfall and then walk along it up the hill to the prepper shelter marked on the map below.
You’ll find a delivery order at the terminal when you get there. Accept the order to collect the lost Musician cargo from the water it directs you to. Then return to the Musician shelter to deliver his lost cargo, which will activate the hologram. He’ll give you a harmonica in appreciation of Sam’s efforts.
Collector
The Collector is one of the best-hidden prepper locations in Death Stranding, as it’s the only one below ground level. To discover this one, head south from the Distribution Center South of Lake Knot City on the Central Map along the crevasse (or chasm) that runs through the landscape. Walk about 400 meters along the crevasse to the Collector location shown in the screenshot below. Then you’ll need to climb down to the shelter at the bottom of the crevasse with a climbing rope.
The Collector leaves a delivery order for Sam to complete at his terminal. Complete that order to trigger the hologram at this shelter. The order directs you to collect game console cargo stored in the Mule camp east of the Distribution Center. So, make sure you’re properly equipped to deal with some Mules before attempting to retrieve the cargo.
Novelist’s Son
You can find the Novelist’s Son on the Central Map during Episode 5. First, head to the Distribution Center North of Mountain Knot City the episode’s narrative will direct you to. Then you can find Novelist’s Son by walking in a southwesterly direction from the Distribution Center North of Mountain Know City to the point shown directly below.
There isn’t any delivery order available at Novelist’s Son when you first walk into his shelter. You’ll need to find his lost cargo (organic fertilizer) in the area around the Novelist’s Son shelter. Then deliver the cargo to Novelist’s Son to activate his hologram. You’ll be rewarded with D-Cryptobiotes by making further deliveries to this prepper.
First Prepper
First Prepper is a tricky shelter to get to as it’s near the summit of a snowy mountain. A good time to find it is after reaching the Spiritualist prepper during Episode 7. The Spiritualist shelter doesn’t have a private room you can fast-travel to. So, it’s worth building one outside that shelter so you can easily return to it later.
Stock up some ladders and climbing ropes at the Spiritualist bunker. Then walk in a slight southeastern direction from that shelter to the First Prepper location shown below. You’ll need to do a bit of mountain hiking and climbing to reach that bunker, which is 31 meters south of the Spiritualist.
One order is available for you to complete at First Prepper’s terminal after finding it. Complete the orders at his terminal to meet First Prepper’s hologram. He’ll even give you a Santa hat when you level him up to one star.
Veteran Porter
Veteran Porter is a prepper near Timefall Farm in the southern area of the Central Map. Hardman directs Sam to Timefall Farm during Episode 3. When you’re there, head in a slight northwestern direction into the mountains. Then you’ll need to walk up some mountain slope to reach the Veteran Porter shelter just west of the Mule camp.
Veteran Porter’s shelter doesn’t open up until Episode 8. If that shelter is closed when you find it, play through the game until you’ve met up with Heartman and completed a few orders in Episode 8. Then you should be able to enter Veteran Porter’s bunker.
When Veteran Porter has opened, you’ll need to find his lost cargo to see that prepper’s hologram. Scan the mountain area around the Veteran Porter shelter to find his lost cargo. Then deliver the Veteran Porter cargo to his shelter. This ex-porter prepper is very skeptical about the UCA, and it takes a lot of deliveries to convince him to join the network.
Finding those hidden prepper locations in Death Stranding will enable you to fully complete the UCA’s chiral network across America. Plus, they’ll all give you rewards and bonuses as you rank up with them by delivering cargo to their shelters.
