This guide includes numerous Borderlands 3 tips for new players starting out in that game. Are you getting hammered in your fight against the Children of the Vault? If so, check out the tips below to become an altogether more accomplished Vault Master in Borderlands 3.

11 Borderlands 3 Tips for Beginners

Borderlands 3 is a pulsating first-person blast-em-up that continues the Borderlands series. In the third instalment of the series, the Crimson Raiders must defeat the Children of the Vault to save the universe. This game features some enthralling blasting action, and you’ll need to make the most of your selected Vault Hunter’s skill set and weaponry to survive against the COV, Guardians, and creatures throughout the galaxy. Here are some Borderlands 3 tips to help you get through the game.

Take Cover to Recharge Your Shield

You’ve probably noticed that your shield recharges in Borderlands 3. So, make sure you give your shield time to recharge after taking a lot of damage during combat by taking cover. Try to shoot from positions where you’re close to large objects, debris, or walls you can hide behind whenever you’ve taken many hits. You can then stay behind your cover until your shield has fully recharged before returning fire.

Utilize Guns With Good Scope

Scope for zooming in on targets is a very useful thing that enables you to keep your distance from enemies and kill them. It’s safer to take out enemies from further away than at close quarters. So, it’s always worth equipping and utilizing at least one gun with good scope, such as a sniper rifle. Some assault rifles also have a good scope with which to pick off targets from longer ranges. The more scope the better, so keep your eyes out for guns with 4-5x zoom.

Upgrade Ammunition SDUs For All Guns

You will need to do lots and lots of shooting in Borderlands 3. So, you’ll probably run out of ammo quickly if you don’t invest in ammunition SDUs upgrades. To ensure you don’t run low on ammo, save your money, and buy as many ammunition SDU upgrades as you can afford from Marcus. These become available when you board the Sanctuary spaceship relatively early in the game. You can pick up loads of free guns throughout the game, so it’s best to save your dollars for ammo upgrades.

Don’t Forget to Refill Your Ammo

To further ensure you don’t deplete your ammunition supply, never forget to refill your ammo at vending machines. There are supply vending machines scattered throughout the universe at which you can pay to fully refill your ammo. Yes, you do have to pay to refill, but it’s worth doing so to ensure you’ve never run out of bullets for your guns in the heat of the action.

Shoot Enforcers’ Feet

Enforcers and Militants are annoying enemies with very large shields you’ll come across in Borderlands 3. The large shields they carry make it harder to hit and kill them than other enemies. However, you can always hit Enforces by shooting at their unprotected feet. So, aim for Enforcers’ to kill them.

Use Incendiary Guns Against Enemies With Flesh

Some of the guns in Borderlands 3 inflict elemental incendiary (fire), shock (electrical), and corrosive (acid) damage on enemies. Incendiary guns inflict a lot of burning damage on humans and creatures with flesh. As most of the enemies in Borderlands 3 have flesh, equipping and utilizing incendiary guns against humans and creatures with red health bars will make your life easier. Then you can watch your enemies burn!

However, incendiary guns aren’t so effective against armored and shielded foes. Enemies with blue bars have shields, and those with armor have yellow bars. Utilize guns that inflict shock damage against enemies with shields. Corrosive guns inflict more damage on foes with armor, which acids melt.

Shoot Barrels to Kill Enemies

You’ll see incendiary, corrosive, radiation, and cryo barrels all over the place as you fight through the COV hordes in Borderlands 3. They can be useful for killing enemies because shooting those barrels blows them up. The barrels’ explosions do quite a lot of collateral damage. So, shoot at those barrels whenever enemies are near to inflict elemental damage.

Keep An Eye on the Minimap

The minimap in Borderlands 3 shows your enemies’ positions by highlighting them with red dots. You can’t always see exactly where nearby enemies are just by looking at what’s ahead of you because debris and walls will conceal some of them. So, keep an eye on the minimap to track enemies’ positions.
