Delete the Riot Vanguard Folder

Reinstalling the Riot Vanguard anti-cheat is a widely confirmed method for fixing the VAN 152 error. This will likely repair glitches with the Riot Vanguard software causing the error to occur. You can reinstall that anti-cheat software by running a deletion command and erasing the Riot Vanguard folder as follows.

  1. First, bring up the file finder tool by clicking on the magnifying glass icon or search box in the taskbar.
  2. Type in a cmd search phrase and start the Command Prompt by right-clicking the matching result found in the file finder tool and selecting Run as administrator.

There’s a VGC service that needs to be enabled and running for Riot Vanguard to work right. Make sure that the service is set to an automatic startup and is running. These are the steps for starting the VGC service.

  1. Click the Start menu icon on the taskbar with the right mouse button and select Run.
  2. Input services.msc into the Run command dialog and hit Enter.

Power Cycle Your PC’s Router

As the VAN 152 issue is a connection error, power cycling your internet router could be worth a try. This will reset your router’s cache data. You can power cycle a router simply by unplugging its power cable for a few minutes and then reconnecting it. Wait a few minutes for all its connection lights to come back and try playing Valorant again.

Disable VPNs

Another possible reason for the VAN 152 error arising is VPN software. If you’re using a VPN when playing Valorant, try disabling its connection before playing the game. You can disable VPN a connection via Control Panel like this.

  1. Start Run and input ncpa.cpl into that accessory’s box.
  2. Click OK to view the Network and Sharing Center.
  3. Right-click your VPN connection to select a Disable option for it.

  4. Make sure your VPN software isn’t still running in the background in any way by closing it from the system tray and disabling processes in Task Manager.
  5. Connect to the internet with your regular connection and try playing Valorant again.

Clear the DNS Network Cache

Finally, try clearing the DNS (Domain Name System) cache to ensure there’s no corrupted data in it. These are the steps for clearing the DNS cache.

  1. Run Command Prompt with elevated user rights as covered in the first couple of steps of resolution one.
  2. Input ipconfig /flushdns and hit Enter to execute.
