Powerwash Simulator has been a massive success in recent years, spawning many new levels from other popular franchises. These include Lara Croft’s Manor from Tomb Raider, various locations from Final Fantasy VII and recently SpongeBob Squarepants‘ underwater neighborhood. As WASD x IGN, I was very happy to preview their upcoming level set in the fiction of Back to the Future.
My task was to clean Dr. Emmett Brown’s iconic time-travelling DeLorean. Finding the DeLorean covered in temporal and astral particles, I grabbed my pressure washers, and got to work!
Powerwash Simulator is available on PC, Xbox S/X, Xbox One, PS4 and PS5. The Back to the Future pack is due to be released later in 2023.
With any Powerwash Simulator level, you’re going to get up very close and personal with whatever you’re cleaning. Any Back to the Future fans are going to have an absolute field day with this! As you remove the thick dust, you’ll uncover all kinds of juicy details from the films. This ranges from the OUTATIME licence plate and the tachyon pulse generator, to the bootleg nuclear reactor and the housing for the flux capacitor!
The setting for this level is the very parking lot in Twin Pines Mall. Fans will know this as the parking lot where the DeLorean made its first iconic time jump.
All in all, previewing this Powerwash Simulator: Back to the Future level was just incredible fan service that made me hungry for more!
What Else We Have to Look Forward To
This level will be just one of five in this upcoming DLC pack. In the other four levels, you’ll be cleaning Dr. Brown’s van, the Hill Valley clocktower, the Holomax theatre and the time train that appears at the end of the trilogy! All of these levels promise to be just as lovingly recreated and full of film references as the Twin Pines Mall DeLorean level.
Speaking with the team at WASD x IGN, they were very excited about players getting their hands on this Back to the Future pack. They also spoke about an upcoming pack that features a crossover with Warhammer 40k. This upcoming pack looks set to deliver a similar level of faithful recreation of iconic environments:
