Ranking the Best Festivals in The Sims 4

Let's take a look at the best festivals that your Sims can attend in The Sims 4, introduced with the City Living, Snowy Escape and Cottage Living Expansion Packs. These festivals will give your Sims a memorable time, with great food, fun entertainment, and mingling with other Sims.

Ranking the Best Festivals in The Sims 4

If you play The Sims 4 and have City Living, Snowy Escape, and Cottage Living installed, you’ll know about the festivals that takes place every week. At a designated venue, different types of festivals pop up, going on for hours. These lively events provide a good time for your Sims, with plenty of market stall food on offer, unique activities to keep them entertained, and lots of other Sims attending to share the fun with. It’s kind of hard to ignore these festivals and not want to at least check them out. They make a great addition to the game, which is why I thought I would rank the best festivals in The Sims 4.

Finchwick Fair

This event comes with The Sims 4 Cottage Living Expansion. While it doesn’t have the word “festival” in the title, instead “fair”, it is technically a festival in that it functions as one.

The reason I’ve put the Finchwick Fair on the last spot of this ranking isn’t because I dislike it. It’s just that unless you actively play features from Cottage Living, such as caring for llamas, cows and chickens, or grow crops, then visiting this festival is a bit pointless.

However, if you do play Cottage Living, you should visit the Finchwick Fair. There are a variety of fairs that take place, each themed. These include the Chicken Fair, Cow Fair, Garden Fair, and Oversized Crop Fair. Every fair has competitions you can enter, depending on the type of fair. Each fair has two competitions based on the theme. The Chicken Fair has competitions that judges the chickens and another for their eggs. The Cow Fair has competitions for the cows but also their milk in a separate competition. As for the Garden and Oversized Crop Fairs, there are prizes for the best harvestables, but for each fair, an extra competition for best pie.

As with all festivals, there are stalls as well. Cottage Living has the Garden and Grocery stalls, where you can pick up items at discounted prices, and find rarer items on sale.

For those interested, the Finchwick Fair takes place every Saturday from 3.30pm to 9.30pm on the green in the Finchwick district of Henford-on-Bagley. To find out the theme of the fair taking place, have a look at the calendar in the game.

Unless you're into caring for livestock, growing giant crops or baking pies, then there's not much for your Sims at the Finchwick Fair.

Flea Market

The Flea Market is the lowest ranking of the five City Living festivals at number eight. It’s not that the Flea Market is bad, but for me it’s the least exciting and one I don’t attend as much as the others. Saying this, the Flea Market is worth a visit. This is where your Sims go if they’re looking for furniture at knock-off prices. You can even buy objects not initially available in Buy/Build Mode, as these ones are locked until you purchase them the first time at the Flea Market. Some of these items are pretty nifty. My personal favorite is a floor lamp that has vibrant colors and patterns available.

The Flea Market is also where you can pick up collectible items such as fossils, gems, and MySims figurines. You can even set up your own stand and sell your own stuff!

This bargain-hunting festival occurs at the Spice Market in San Myshuno every Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

Festival of Snow

I personally think the City Living festivals are better than the Snowy Escape ones, but the three festivals are worth looking into, including this first one. The Festival of Snow comes in at number seven of this list mainly because the festival itself doesn’t offer much. There are the usual food stalls, and snow-covered children’s play equipment, but I can’t think of much else that happens here. Probably the most significant thing about the Festival of Snow are the giant snow sculptures situated around the venue, lit up in beautiful bright colors. These don’t appear outside the festival, so it’s worth attending just to admire them. The other good thing about the Festival of Snow is its location. It’s situated in the snowy region of Mt. Komorebi, Yukimatsu, where your Sims can go skiing, sledding, and snowboarding, so they can go off and do these things as well while they’re at the festival.

The Festival of Snow takes place most Saturdays between 3pm and 12am.

Festival of Light

The second of the three festivals from Snowy Escape comes sixth in the ranking for best festival. The Festival of Light might not be the most activity-filled festival in The Sims 4, but it’s still good to check it out at least once. There are food and drinks stalls, and vending machines where you can buy a kimono unique to the festival. There’s also a tree where your Sims can leave a wish, and a big bonfire to hang around. Also, in the nearby river, you’ll see lots of floral lanterns floating in the water, which makes a very pretty sight. While the Festival of Light might be a little lacking, don’t dismiss it because your Sims will still have a pleasant and enjoyable time here.

If you would like to check out Snowy Escape‘s Festival of Light, head over to the Senbamachi district in Mt. Komorebi when it takes place most Fridays between 6pm and 1am.

Humor and Hijinks Festival

If you have Sims who love a good joke, then send them to the Humor and Hijinks Festival. Even Sims with little or no experience in Comedy or Mischief will have a good time here, which is why I put this festival at number five.

This festival is unique in that it offers any attending Sims a challenge, but a fun one with really good rewards. When your Sims arrive, they have to pick a side: are they Jokesters, or Pranksters? There are two drinking fountains to choose: the yellow for Jokesters, the purple for Pranksters. Once your Sim picks a side, the competition is on. Your Sims can earn points by either telling jokes or pulling pranks on other Sims. The tally is updated throughout the event. Towards the end of the event, whichever team has the most points is declared the winner. Fireworks will go off in the colors of the winning team. Also, if your Sims took part in the challenge and were on the winning team, they’ll receive lots of free fireworks and other goodies as a reward, and these are worth hundreds of Simoleons if you sell them. The challenge is definitely worth taking part in!

This is definitely one of the most fun festivals to take part in. The Humor and Hijinks Festival is part of the City Living Expansion and occurs in the Arts Quarter every Monday from 5pm to 11pm.

Any Sims up for a laugh will enjoy the Humor and Hijinks Festival.

Festival of Youth

The number four spot in this ranking goes to the last of the Snowy Escape festivals: the Festival of Youth. As the name suggests, this event is aimed at kids. If you have young ones in your household, this is a good place for them to go for a few hours. There are plenty of activities for kids: arts & crafts tables, science experiment tables, a monkey bar, and a stall selling lots of good food, including ice cream. Yamachan is also present at this festival, and if your young Sims speak to them, they can take part in a Voidcritter Hunt. Voidcritters are the Pokémon of The Sims universe, and the Voidcritter Hunt is a lot of fun. Your Sims have to locate 10 Voidcritters before the end of the festival to claim a prize. It’s a lot like Pokémon GO.

Even though this festival is designed specifically for kids, it’s still a lot of fun to attend. With Snowy Escape, you can attend this festival every Sunday between 10am and 6pm at Mt. Komorebi in the Wakaba district.

The Festival of Youth is tailored to kids, with activities just for them and lots of young Sims attending.

Spice Festival

The Spice Festival is one of those fun, lively and vibrant festivals that you’ll want to check out in The Sims 4, so it’s number three on this list. Lots of Sims gather here to eat food, but not just any food, but spicy food. The food stalls here serve spicy food. There’s also the Spicy Curry Challenge, which is good fun to try out. If your Sims like cooking and fancy a good old barbeque, you can rustle up your own food with the grills available. There are also herbs you can harvest, which you can use in your cooking or take home with you and plant. The Spice Festival also has bubble blowing machines available, and there’s a spot for Sims to busk. It’s a good place to perform, with plenty of Sims to entertain.

You might need to have a tongue that can take spicy food in order to fully appreciate the Spice Festival, but it’s still well worth checking out. If you want to see it for yourself, it’s available with the City Living Expansion, taking place at the Spice Market in San Myshuno every Friday between 5pm and 1am.

Romance Festival

The Romance Festival certainly is romantic, and takes the number two spot on this list. There’s a few reasons why I like the Romance Festival so much. It’s a great place to go for Sims either looking for love or already in love. If you want your Sims to spend some romantic quality time together, this is the place. The vibes of the festival alone will get your Sims feeling flirty.

There is plenty to do at this festival. There’s sakura tea to drink, and nearby is a romance guru who is on hand to predict whether there’s love for your Sims. There’s even a wedding arch.

There’s other stuff to look out for as well. There are flowers you can harvest. There’s a food stall selling Japanese food, and the usual swag stall. I especially love the t-shirt with the cherry blossom on it.

To really add to the atmosphere of the Romance Festival, there’s Japanese-style new age music playing on the speakers, very soothing and romantic. There are also trees in the festival grounds. Plus, the festival takes place in the evening. There’s nothing more romantic than a moonlit festival.

The Romance Festival comes with The Sims 4 City Living Expansion. It is held in the Fashion District and takes place every Saturday starting from 5pm until 1am.

Whether Sims are looking for romance or already in a relationship, the Romance Festival sure is romantic!

GeekCon

For me, the number one spot for best festival in The Sims 4 is a no-brainer. I never get tired of GeekCon. This festival is very much a video gaming/comic book/sci fi/movie convention. It is such good fun, especially for Sims who love technology, gaming, and science.

There is so much to do at GeekCon. Sims can take part in Hackathons, to see who is the best hacker based on their Programming Skill. There’s an Ultimate Gaming Test, which scores you based on how well your Sims play each of the games on the motion gaming mat. There are two rockets that your Sims can construct and fly into space with. There are Sims dressed as characters, who you can take selfies with. There’s also a telescope. There’s also a games console set up in case your Sims want to have a play session, and plenty of computers on hand. Then as always, there’s a food stall that sells hot dogs and hamburgers, and a swag stall.

I honestly love GeekCon in The Sims 4. The only downside for me is that it doesn’t go on long enough!

If you want to check out the GeekCon festival for yourself, it comes with the City Living Expansion Pack. The event is held in the Fashion District of San Myshuno and takes place every Tuesday from 10am until 4pm.

GeekCon, my personal favorite festival in The Sims 4.

That wraps up this ranking for best festivals in The Sims 4. In my opinion, festivals are a great addition to the game. You can meet and mingle with lots of Sims, there is a lot to do, your Sims can pick up some unique goodies, and there’s plenty of food on offer. If you’ve never gone to a festival in The Sims 4, go and check one out.
