Crafting the World of Harold Halibut
Harold Halibut offers over 40 characters with eight hours of dialogue and animations. It’s a labor of love created by the team at SlowBros, a group of about 12 people in Cologne, Germany. They’ve spent 10 years crafting every detail of the game, making it truly unique and distinctly special. Every wall, eyeball, and screw was handmade in the real world and scanned into the game. The team members come from different backgrounds like video games, filmmaking, carpentry, biology, and illustration.
Each and every part of the game is handmade. The characters, backgrounds, and objects are carefully created using stop-motion techniques. Then, they’re brought into the game using a smart process called photogrammetry. This process scans objects in 3D using photographs taken from different angles. After that, the information is adjusted on a computer to make everything fit together just right.

The Slow Bros team got their architectural ideas from Archigram, a cool group from the 1960s. Archigram dreamed up all sorts of wild buildings, even though they never built any. SlowBros’ goal was to make a world full of meaningful encounters, and they’ve succeeded. Each character represents a different part of humanity, shaped by stories passed down through generations.
Gameplay Overview
The gameplay is a mix of side-scrolling movement and depth in scenes. Players will talk to characters, help them with tasks, and explore the ship’s machinery. The most exciting part is exploring the alien planet below the Fedora’s waters. With submarines and strange creatures, it promises a journey full of discovery.
