Best Places in Destiny 2 to Grind the Deepsight Weapons

Grinding for the resonant elements and pattern progress can be a slog, but there’s some places in Destiny 2 that make it fast, easy, and worthwhile. Turn days of grinding into only a few hours with these places sure to make it less painful, more fun, and ludicrously easy, raking in the rewards and freeing you up to do more. They also work great for catalysts!

Best Places In Destiny 2 To Grind The Deepsight Weapons coverWhen the Witch Queen expansion dropped, it brought along a slew of new features, QOLs, the Void 3.0 update, and plenty of other things to amp up the fun in Destiny 2. Probably the most influential feature was Deepsight Crafting, a system that allows players to create their own weapons, in effect allowing god roll weapons to be consistently farmed so long as they had the time and materials to make it happen. Initially, the roster of craftable weapons was small, and gathering materials was time-consuming, but since then, little changes here and there have made the process easier.

However, the core of it is actually grinding out the weapons, either to be able to extract elements or patterns from the red border versions, or to increase their level so you can unlock better/stronger abilities. You have to actually use the weapon to make it happen, and it doesn’t work just by having it in your inventory, it has to be equipped. Completing activities gives the most experience, with harder ones granting more, but also taking more time, and killing the rank-and-file of the enemies of humanity takes a LONG time.

That said, there’s certain places you can go to ease the burden, allowing you to skyrocket your progress without pulling your hair.

Shuro Chi Checkpoint

The first is probably the most well-known, especially after the update that made it so one of the best checkpoints, the Shattered Throne, didn’t reward weapon experience for killing the Shadow Thralls in the infinite spawning rooms anymore. Shuro Chi, an encounter in the Last Wish raid, has been considered optimal for farming catalysts, and since they’ve come around, Deepsight Weapons.

Don't just stop at the door; go inside, kill the knights to spawn more low-level enemies, rinse and repeat until no more spawn.

All it requires is entering in the specific wish code to activate the teleporter that takes you to a room where you can get about 80-something kills a run. With a circle for a raid banner nearby (to refill your ammo), and a checkpoint to access it from orbit (after you die), it’s considered one of the best by many. However, the downside is that the checkpoint expires after every weekly reset, you need raid banners to refill your special/heavy ammo (and at 50k glimmer for a stack of ten, that money will go fast), and you need the Forsaken update.

Make sure all the symbols are properly displayed before stepping into the portal.

To even get to this point quickly enough to justify it, you need to get to the raid’s wish wall. Banjo-Kazooie fans will get a sense of nostalgia as they reach this “legal cheat code” wall, which requires you to shoot the circles to cycle through different symbols. Do not use a weapon with the perk Explosive Payload, as it will inadvertently hit the other circles, forcing you to try again. Once all the symbols match to the picture above, step into the glowing platform. After a moment, the wall will shine, you will die, and be resurrected just outside the Shuro Chi encounter, where you can go wild with killing adds.

Grasp of Avarice

Next is the Grasp of Avarice, a dungeon introduced in the 30th Anniversary pack. No checkpoint, no hassle, just launch in, and there’s infinitely spawning enemies at the loot cave that line up to be shot at. While you need the 30th Anniversary pack to get to it, it’s easily the most cost-effective option since you don’t need to plan anything in advance, or travel far. The downside is that unless you have the Ammo Finder mod for the weapon you need to grind (if it requires special/heavy), you’ll find yourself running out very quickly.

The infamous loot cave returns; bigger, badder, and miles beneath the Cosmodrome.

Lake of Shadows

Then there’s the Lake of Shadows, the shortest strike in the game, and one of the easiest. The speed of completion rewards good (but not great) experience, and it’s available to everyone, making it the most accessible.

An easy strike, just gets tedious after a while.

The Investigation

The last one is probably the most efficient and effective, but requires the Witch Queen expansion. The second mission, The Investigation, is where you want to go. Fight and make your way through the Lucent Hive and Savathûn’s Throne World until you get to the area just outside a large gate. After you complete the encounter there, go through the gate and you’ll be at a large garden where Scorn and Lucent Hive are fighting.

Free special/heavy ammo, a horde of baddies, and space neo-gothic. What more could you ask for?

Right in front of you will be a circle for a banner, a free one at that; it doesn’t detract from your inventory. Kill the waves of enemies until the Lucent Wizard appears. After her health dips below 50%, she’ll spawn more enemies to kill. Once all of them are gone, you’re free to kill the Wizard (kill, but not crush her Hive Ghost). Once she respawns, allow her to kill you, you’ll revive at the checkpoint, and rinse and repeat. This is the optimum for all ammo types since your ammo respawns thanks to the banner, and you can grind out Deepsight Weapons lightning fast, and even better, the checkpoint doesn’t reset weekly, but there’s a big catch; it will end when the Witch Queen expansion goes away, which will be when Lightfall drops in 2023. So get your fill until then.

Glad to know people who don’t even play the game are covering articles of it. Witch Queen didn’t “go away” bud. It wasn’t seasonal content. And was obviously released well after Bungie announced “Sunsetting” (removal, since you’ve not played the game) was being removed. Not sure what brought you to that conclusion, but it’s clear you don’t play the game. I assume your trivial search led you to come across what was called “Sunsetting” and automatically concluded Witch Queen fell within that. It doesn’t . A cursory internet search would prove you wrong.
