Akela Cooper, writer for Malignant, M3GAN and episodes of The 100 and American Horror Story, created the story, which is a strong sign for the film.
The Nun II is set four years after the original, with Frenchie and Sister Irene now in France in 1956. However, they must showdown with the horrifying entity once again when a priest is brutally murdered and she goes to investigate. With religious themes and a captivatingly evil villain, it’s absolutely one of the biggest horror movies releasing this September.

It Lives Inside
It Lives Inside releases 22nd September to cinemas.
Exploring an underserved culture in western horror movies, It Lives Inside is an Indian-American film that delves into the mythology and demons of India. With a refreshing direction for the teen horror genre. Written and directed by Bishal Dutta, creator of award winning shorts such as Life in Color, the film takes inspiration from the cultural divide he experienced when moving to the US, such as the gap between loving American horrors whilst not being represented in them.
The film follows a high school student named Sam. Her rejection of her Indian roots to fit in lead to the release of a Pishach, a flesh eating demon appearing in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. With the monster attached to her best friend, she must come to terms with her culture and heritage to defeat it.
Deliver Us
Deliver Us releases 29th September to cinemas.
Another entrant to the biggest horror movies releasing this September also brings the religious themed gothic horror. Deliver Us stars Thomas Kretschmann (King Kong, Wanted, The Pianist), Lee Roy Kunz (Delirium, Pretty Little Liars) and Maria Vera Ratti (The Lying Life of Adults, Inspector Ricciardi) in a twisted tale of immaculate conception.
Deliver Us takes us to a remote convent, where a nun has fallen pregnant. The Vatican sends a team of priests to investigate this apparent miracle. There is ancient prophecy that claims that such an event heralds the birth of twins. One being the Messiah, the other, the Anti-Christ. It’s a creepy inversion of the birth of Christ, and an interesting take as the priests must struggle with whether to abort the children.
All Fun and Games
All Fun and Games releases 1st September to cinemas.
Salem is a popular location for horror given it’s morbid and dark history. All Fun and Games looks to add to this tradition. The film is Ari Costa and Eren Celeboglu’s directorial debuts and comes with a packed cast of young actors/actresses. Natalia Dyer, famous for her roll as Nancy in Stranger Things, and Asa Butterfield, who you may know from Ender’s Game and Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, star in this film that puts a demonic twist on childhood games.
All Fun and Games follows a group of teenagers living in Salem. Discovering a cursed knife, they unwittingly unleash a demonic force that makes them play games for a chance at survival. It may be treading on familiar territory, but with a great cast and a promising horror premise, it’s an exciting movie releasing this September and one of the biggest to come out this month.
