The Watchers

The Watchers releases on 7th June 2024 to cinemas.

First on our list of the biggest horror movies releasing this June, is the upcoming supernatural horror The Watchers. Based on the book of the same name by A.M. Shine, this film is written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan in her directorial debut, with her father M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Split) producing. The film stars Dakota Fanning (The Twilight Sage, Ocean’s 8) and Georgina Campbell (Krypton, Barbarian).

Mina (Dakota Fanning) is an artist who finds herself stranded deep in the forests of Ireland. When she finds shelter, she becomes trapped with three strangers. Outside mysterious creatures watch and stalk them. The trailer looks great for this movie, and with some great actors and Shyamalan attached its certainly one to be excited for.

A Quiet Place: Day One

A Quiet Place: Day One releases on 28th June 2024 to cinemas.

Apocalyptic horror A Quiet Place: Day One is a spin off prequel to the acclaimed series created by John Krasinski (The Office). Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, Olympia) it’s the third instalment in the franchise. Day One comes with a strong cast. Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, Us), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things, Overlord), Alex Wolff (Oppenheimer, Hereditary) and Djimon Hounsou (Captain Marvel, A Quiet Place Part II) all star in the upcoming horror.

The series so far has been set in a world beset with bloodthirsty blind aliens with ultrasonic hearing. The prequel will show us the arrival of the aliens. Sam (Lupita Nyong’o) lives in New York when the creatures arrive and must try to survive. It’s a great franchise and cast, and one of the biggest and most exciting horror movies to release this June.

The Exorcism

The Exorcism releases on 21st June 2024 to cinemas.

This upcoming supernatural horror is next on our list of the biggest horror movies releasing this June. The Exorcism is written and directed by Joshua John Miller (The Final Girls, Near Dark). It’s another film this month with some awesome star power. Russel Crowe (Gladiator, The Nice Guys), Sam Worthington (Avatar, Terminator Salvation) and Ryan Simpkins (Fear Street: Part 2, Brigsby Bear).

An actor with a troubled past is shooting a horror film when he begins act strangely, disrupting the shoot. His estranged daughter fears he’s slipping back into addiction, but something dark and sinister may be at play. With an award-winning cast and writer/director, it’s hopefully going to be a terrifying addition to the exorcism movie genre.

Under Paris

Under Paris releases on 5th June 2024 to Netflix.

French filmmaker Xavier Gens (Gangs of London, Cold Skin) returns with his latest film Under Paris. This horror is a shark attack film set in Paris, which is an intriguing direction to take the popular genre. Bérénice Bejo (A Knight’s Tale, The Past), Nassim Lyes (The Spy, Mayhem!), Anaïs Parello (Parlement, Vortex) star in this shark story.

Details are fairly sparse on the film, but Variety provides a synopsis, ‘Set in the Summer of 2024, the film unfolds in Paris which is hosting the World Triathlon Championships on the Seine for the first time. Sophia, a brilliant scientist… learns that a large shark is swimming deep in the river. To avoid a bloodbath at the heart of the city, they have no choice but to join forces with Adil, the Seine River police commander.’

Trim Season

Trim Season releases on 7th June 2024 to cinemas and on demand.

Directed by Ariel Vida and based on a story by Sean E. DeMott, Cullen Poythress and Megan Sutherland. Trim Season stars Bethlehem Million (Sick, The Good Doctor), Alexandra Essoe (The Pope’s Exorcist, The Midnight Club) and Ally Ioannides (Into the Badlands, The Tsarevich). This one has a fun premise and has received some promising buzz from the trailer.

Set on a remote marijuana farm, Trim Season follows a group of friends going there to make some money. However, the Mountainous location harbours dark secrets and they find it difficult to escape. The movie looks to have some good effects and cast, as well as a fun premise, and thus makes our list of the biggest horrors releasing this June.
