It’s the first month of the new year, and that can only mean one thing in the WWE… it’s almost time for the Royal Rumble. Coming to us at St. Petersburg, Florida inside the Tropicana Field arena on January 27th, 2024. This is the night that we will see the iconic Royal Rumble match where 30 contenders, in both a men’s and women’s match, will try to throw opponents over the top rope and secure their spot at WrestleMania. Here are my five predictions as to what might occur at the event.
Who Wins the Men’s Royal Rumble?
With a stacked group of participants in this year’s Royal Rumble for the men, the attempted predictions on who will win it are even more difficult to accurately assess. Nevertheless, we will try our best. A lot of competitors have their own reasons for wanting to win the Royal Rumble. CM Punk wants to win it because he’s never main-evented WrestleMania before. Drew McIntyre wants to win it because he actually wants live fans in attendance this time around. And with the way Cody Rhodes wants to finish his story, you can tell that he wants to stamp his ticket to WrestleMania as well.
Like I said, so many people have a great chance to win at the 2024 Royal Rumble. But, l am going with Cody Rhodes to win it. Why? It’s simple… second time in a row. The last person to win back-to-back Royal Rumbles was Stone Cold Steve Austin. Maybe it’s time for another person to win in the same manner. But that is really the only reason why I’m going with Cody Rhodes to win the Royal Rumble. Also, a side caveat will be that Cody could finally end his story by winning gold against Roman Reigns.
Who Will Win the Women’s Royal Rumble?
This is just as hard to predict as the men’s. Because the crowd of women is really good this year. Nia Jax is on a roll having beaten Becky Lynch in their first one on one match against one another. Bianca Belair could use the victory to challenge Iyo Sky of Damage Control, and Bayley needs to get back on track herself and this could be an important opportunity for the role model to do just that.
I’m going with Bayley to win the Royal Rumble because she had the most setbacks of most of the female contenders last year. She really didn’t have a strong footing in 2023. It was always about others in the Damage Control faction, and she might want to get back on top of the mountain once again by winning the Royal Rumble and going for gold at WrestleMania.
Randy Orton Pulls Off the Unthinkable
Now finding himself in a fatal-four way, the tribal chief, Roman Reigns, finds himself in more of a predicament than ever before. Instead of one man, he will have to deal with three other men inside the ring at the same time. This means that Roman Reigns doesn’t have to be pinned to lose his championship. I don’t think he will be pinned in this match, but I think that Randy Orton will pin AJ Styles to win the match and become the new WWE Universal Champion as a result.
Logan Paul Loses to Kevin Owens
I see Logan Paul once again putting on a captivating performance at the Royal Rumble when he faces off against Kevin Owens. This promises to be another great match by Logan. However, I don’t see him defeating Kevin Owens who looks so hungry to win gold again. Kevin Owens has also been a United States Champion in the WWE before, and he more than likely will be one again after this match has concluded. Logan Paul appears to be making friends with the tag team of Austin Theory and Grayson Waller…so we might see them get involved in the match as well.
AJ Lee Returns During the Royal Rumble
After leaving the company with her husband CM Punk, nobody has really seen AJ Lee since then. Therefore, I’m going with her returning to the WWE by being a participant in the Royal Rumble women’s match. CM Punk made sure to mention her in his return to the WWE in the middle of the ring. Maybe we see her return as well during the event.
There are my five predictions for this year’s Royal Rumble. Next stop will be the Elimination Chamber.
