It’s a very exciting and special year, as the event known as WrestleMania turns 40. The showcase of the immortals has been a staple for the WWE for four decades now. And the event is shaping up to be a good one.
You have The Bloodline adding The Rock as their newest member after a conflict between him and Cody Rhodes arose. This led to The Visionary becoming involved in the feud aligning himself with the American Nightmare. Here are my five predictions for WrestleMania 40.
Bayley Pins Iyo Sky
The former leader of Damage Control will seek revenge against the faction that turned their backs on her. After many weeks of questioning and calculating the unity that the members had with her, Bayley got her answer on two episodes of SmackDown where Iyo Sky and The Kabuki Warriors turned on her… followed by Dakota Kai doing the same thing.
Just like Bayley needed to win the Royal Rumble this year, I think she also needs to win at WrestleMania and therefore become the next WWE Women’s Champion.
The Rock Is Turning on The Bloodline
After weeks of bitterness between Cody Rhodes and The Rock on who was supposed to face off against Roman Reigns, it seems that Cody won the coin toss at the end, as he will go one-on-one with The Bloodline’s Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 40. On an episode of SmackDown, The Rock made it clear that he is going to take away Cody Rhodes’ championship victory because he took something away from him. That something was to face Roman Reigns at this year’s main event at WrestleMania.
I think that this is all setting up for The Rock to turn on The Bloodline on night two of WrestleMania after he helps them win their tag match on night one against Cody and Seth. For a few years now, The Rock was seen as the person to either end or help in ending The Bloodline, and I think this could still be the case even though he lost his match against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, so Cody could take it instead.
Gunther Defeats Sami
I think that it would be too easy for Sami Zayn to beat Gunther at WrestleMania. Everybody enjoys a good underdog story, and this surely fits the bill. But, is Sami Zayn really the guy to pick up the win against Gunther when everyone else has failed? I believe that this is not going to be the case, and Sami Zayn will lose to Gunther at Mania thus continuing the dominant run that Gunther has been on as Intercontinental Champion.
Maybe a rubber match would be more appropriate between the two, where they both win a match against one another and then Sami takes Gunther in match three. But, Gunther needs to win at WrestleMania more than Sami does just to show he can win at the most important event of the calendar year.
Cody Rhodes Wins at WrestleMania
To tie into my prediction when it comes to The Rock turning on The Bloodline, and costing them a victory at Mania. I also think that this will lead to Cody Rhodes finally beating Roman Reigns, and therefore winning the WWE Universal Championship in the process. After all that has happened in the last two years to lead us into this moment, I think the best outcome is for Cody Rhodes to finish his story, and for The Bloodline to suffer a big blow in the process. Does this mean that The Bloodline gets so destroyed that they eventually disband as a result? That is a tough one.
Rhea Ripley Wins Her Match
The next dominate competitor that is in the women’s division of the WWE appears to be Rhea Ripley. Her faction, The Judgment Day, is doing a good job at showing dominance on Raw. When she faces off against Becky Lynch at WrestleMania, I think that Rhea will beat Becky in a very hard fought match. Just like the last few PLE events, Rhea Ripley needs the victories more than her competitors do. She needs to prove that she deserves to hold the title. Becky Lynch could handle a loss at Mania more, but at the same time, she will need to pick up some steam of her own after WrestleMania.
There are my five predictions for WrestleMania 40 at Philly. Inside the Lincoln Financial Field arena. It will be a very hectic environment, to say the least, and we shall see what will unfold on the Raw after Mania.
