Women’s Royal Rumble – Bayley Prevails!

The Women’s Royal Rumble match was jam-packed full of amazing spots and incredible feats of strength. Not only that, but the match flowed in such a fluid nature that it all felt cohesive and intertwined. Naomi returned at the number 2 spot and what a way to kick off the match. Solid performances all around with Jordynne Grace (yes, the TNA women’s champion, what a surprise), Bianca Belair, and Nia Jax doing exceptionally well for themselves.

Bayley won the Rumble and made history as the longest time spent in the women's Rumble match.

Speaking of Nia Jax, the long-awaited debut of Jade Cargill saw her eliminate not only Nia but both Naomi and Becky Lynch as well. On the topic of eliminations, Tiffany Stratton held onto Bianca Belair’s ponytail, prompting Bayley to eliminate them both. The final three consisted of Liv Morgan, Jade Cargill, and Bayley. Liv Morgan then eliminated Jade which ultimately resulted in Bayley’s victory after she kicked Liv onto the outside of the ring. However, the true highlight of this Rumble was R-Truth entering the match, thinking it was the men’s Royal Rumble. Ron Killings, you are a gem.

Fatal 4-Way Match for Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

With 1,246 days spent as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns seems to be virtually unstoppable. That definitely was the case at the Rumble as he emerged victorious from the action-packed Fatal 4-Way match. However, his win would not have been possible without the interference of Solo Sikoa which saw him interrupt the ref’s pin count whilst Orton had Reigns pinned.

The action was nonstop during this match that at one point, AJ Styles pinned a mountain of the other 3 downed men, only for all 3 of them to kick out of the pinfall together. Unfortunately, not even a ‘this is awesome’ chant could give Styles the power needed to defeat the head of the table. Instead, LA Knight – who was fantastic during this match – was decimated by Reigns and bumped into the ropes, prompting AJ Styles to fall whilst attempting a Phenomenal Forearm. As a result, a quick but heavy Spear saw Reigns retain as predicted.

United States Championship Match – All About the Brass

No matter your opinion on Logan Paul, it has to be said that he gives it his all when it is time to step into the squared circle. Putting on a spectacle of a match, both Kevin Owens and Logan Paul gave it their all. This match was one of the most electric in terms of how smoothly everything flowed together. Reversal after reversal, targeted attacks on KO’s broken hand, and some near-kickouts made this truly a fun watch.

Ultimately, Logan Paul retained the title due to Kevin Owens getting disqualified following some shenanigans. Austin Theory interfered in the match, sliding Logan brass knuckles. However, KO managed to knick them off of him, knocking out Logan Paul using the banned weapon. Whilst counting the pin, the referee noticed the brass knuckles on the exposed hand of Kevin Owens, signaling for a disqualification. Of course, that whole situation infuriated Kevin Owens, and naturally, he took out his frustrations on Paul, powerbombing him through the announcer’s table.

Men’s Royal Rumble – The American Nightmare, Back to Back!

The first entrant of the men’s Rumble was none other than main event Jey Uso. Following a joyful entrance, the number 2 spot was revealed to be Jimmy Uso, prompting the twins to face off, their complicated history carried as a burden. The two gave exceptional performances alongside superstars such as Damien Priest, Bron Breakker, and a returning Sami Zayn. Sami wasn’t the only return though, as we saw the mighty Andrade! Special guest commentator Pat McAfee was entrant number 22. However, he quickly eliminated himself after coming face-to-face with Omos.

Lashley Brawl, Pat McAfee, & R-Truth’s Antics

The crowd was electric initially, singing Cody’s theme song as well as Shinsuke Nakamura’s. Not only that but chants such as ‘this is awesome’ were echoed throughout the show. Despite this, it still felt as though the crowd could have been more animated, especially during the final two participants in the rumble. A brawl erupted following Lashley’s elimination that involved the Street Profits and Karrion Kross. Ultimately, it didn’t matter as both men were out of the Rumble match.

R-Truth finally managed to make his way into the correct Rumble but yet again with further complication. In a comedic bit, R-Truth mistook the match type for a ‘tag-team’ match and urged Dominik Mysterio to tag him in. Dominik sold a hot tag and R-Truth was in. Ultimately, his time in the Rumble was short-lived as an impatient Damien Priest threw him out of the ring. Things aren’t all bad as we did see some brief ‘Awesome Truth’ teamwork.

The Final Four: All Main Event Material

The final four were incredible, the four faces of WWE and arguably the most talented superstars on the roster. CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, Gunther, and Cody Rhodes. The favorites managed to come out on top as Gunther was eliminated by Cody and Drew by Punk. However, both men put on a spectacle, Drew at one point standing tall after delivering a Claymore to everyone in sight. After a thrilling showcase of their illustrious signature moves, it was down to Punk and Rhodes as the final two men.

CM Punk and Cody Rhodes put on an incredible mini-match. As the final two, both exchanged finishers and signatures. The crowd was on their feet, knowing the match could go either way. Punk seemed to have the match won but a quick reversal of a GTS allowed Cody to throw CM Punk over the top rope and become victorious. The future is bright for Cody Rhodes. It seems as though he WILL indeed finish the story in Wrestlemania 40.

That being said, this was a recap of the 2024 WWE Royal Rumble event.
