Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
The best entry in the series
Spiral is by far the best saw movie. As a huge fan of the franchise, this movie delivers everything that makes the saw movies great, and does away with everything that makes them bad. Unlike, other saw films, this is very story centered. The plot is quite easy to follow and making it more about plot then traps makes the traps more entertaining when they hit. Although the traps are not super gory, and they're not even the most graphic traps in the series, they are still very brutal and hard to watch. The acting is obviously much better than the other films and even the soundtrack hits well. The main thing that makes this work is by getting rid of jigsaw letting the movie be its own thing, with a saw style, than making it connect to John Kramer. Only real flaw is that its twist is incredibly predictable.
Lucas (1986)
Entertaining and heartfelt coming of age fim
What a unique and underrated 80's dramedy. All the performances are great, and all the characters are relatable. The entire feel of the film is just real, no matter what decade you went to high school, the whole feel of things is just nostalgic and realistic. It has a nice mixture of comedic and sad moments, and the ending is handled perfectly, it could have been really bad. Surprised that this movie isn't as popular as other teen 80's films, but it can always be rediscovered. Definitely worth the watch.
Zombi Holocaust (1980)
Fun, entertaining, and very gory
Zombi Holocaust is much better than I expected. Its actually one of the better Italian cannibal films. The movie has horrible acting and editing, the plot twists are way too obvious, and the ending is sorta dumb. However, does that matter? The main reason these movies are good is because of the gore, and this is one of the gorier of the cannibal movies, if not the goriest. A zombie's face is eviscerated with a boat moder, there are two very graphic cannibal gut munching scenes, multiple surgery scenes that contain lots of gore, among other gory mayhem throughout the movie. If any of that sounds fun or exciting then this movie is for you. Besides CH, this is more entertaining than the other cannibal films. Even the plot is more original than the other films. If you can get past the bad parts of the movie, and enjoy cheesy b movies, than this should be a must.
Cobra Kai: December 19 (2021)
Excellent finale
Incredible way to end the season. Season 3 is by far the best, and the finale sets up some intense conflict for next season. The unexpected alliances and betrayals were great, and the final fight was one of the best in the show.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Entertaining sequal
1984 is not one of the more standout films of the DCEU, and its not even one of the standout movies of the year, however its still a fun and entertaining super hero movie. Very fun and vibrant, and more humor compared to the first one which is great. The action is also good, just not as much of it. Overall, this should be a nice movie for fans of the first, just nothing new or exciting should be expected from it. I can't understand all the negative reviews. People hate just to hate, the movie had flaws, but noting that really ruined the movie.
Freaky (2020)
Unique and refreshing slasher comedy
Freaky is by far, one of the most entertaining slasher films of the 21st century. The plot is very simple, and has been done in many films, but to have the body swap premise in a horror film keeps things very interesting. Unlike most body swap films, the acting is very consistent between the two actors. Vince Vaughn is hysterical as a shy teen girl, and Katherine Newton was very convincing as a crazed killer, she definitely had the more impressive performance out of the two. The movie delivers a pretty good amount of humor and the kills are nice and gory. For fans of the genre, Freaky is definitely a refreshing and enjoyable film.
Kevin Hart: Zero F**ks Given (2020)
All those bad reviews are whack
This special was actually very funny. The bad reviews are probably from the haters. Not much to really say, if you're a fan, then you'll probably be laughing the whole hour. Great stand up
Scare Package (2019)
Hilarious and gory
For some people, there will be nothing special about scare package. However, if you like horror and want a silly tongue-in-cheek love letter to horror , this movie is great. Most of the stories are entertaining (I personally didn't like mister, so much to do, and girls night out of body) and funny, the acting is purposely bad which adds to the humor, and the gore is wild and over the top giving the film a nice campy feel to it. If you like this stuff, then go see it, if you're not sure, you'll probably be sure after the first 15 minutes.
Becky (2020)
Fun gory splatter film
Becky offers a very simple and familiar premise, but whats in the film makes it stand out. The main girl plays a convincing 13 year old on a John Wick like rampage, which is very fun to watch. Kevin James surprisingly does a good job as the villain, though the more dialog he's given, the less intimidating his character is. The kills are brutal and gory, and the movie runs at a quick pace. Some will love this movie, others will hate it.
Mondo cannibale (1980)
Decent cannibal film
In terms of acting and casting, this movie is terrible. Its plot is interesting, but the execution was bad. However, you only watch a movie like this for one thing, and thats the gore, and this one delivers. Most of these movies don't have any actual gut munching scenes, and this one has many. The problem is the slo motion of the scenes and the odd noises that are added make them annoying and irritating, though the scenes are still very gruesome. If you like these movies, you'll like this one, if you hate these movies, you'll hate this one.
Hatchet III (2013)
Fun gore filled entry in the series
Hatchet 3 is by far the best in the series. Its filled with very gory, over the top kills, a very silly tone, and fun characters. The first two are more like the 3rd, just not as great, and the 4th one sucks. 3 is just wild mindless fun, and its nice not having the black character die right off the bat, but I was pleasantly surprised that he lasted the whole movie. Nice comedic slasher film. 80 minutes of fun.
Cobra Kai (2018)
Fantastic show, a major surprise-review for all 4 seasons
In no way could a show like this actually succeed. Or so I thought. The series mixes the perfect amount of self aware humor, great drama, and lots of nostalgia. The story line really elevates its well written characters. All of the characters are very interesting to watch and everyone seems to frequently bounce back and fourth between which sides they're on. And the performances from these actors is top notch. Definitely a must watch, one my top 10 . A perfect continuation of the karate kid franchise with great levels of corny nostalgia and teen angst. The 3rd season takes things to even greater heights. Some unexpected twists and lots of great action and conflict. Season 4 continues to highten the show. One of the funniest and most intense seasons. The last two episodes are almost iconic. All your expectations about the outcome of the tournament are thrown out the window. Phenomenal season.
Tenet (2020)
One of Nolan's best
This is a very confusing film. As it goes on things begin to clear up and make scence. It will definitely take a few more viewings to fully understand everything that's going on. The acting and plot are all very good and the action scenes are great. The effects are also spectacular, and just about all of it is done practically without any cgi. Besides The Dark Knight, this is without a doubt Nolan's best film. A very complex and intriguing action movie.
Deathstroke Knights & Dragons: The Movie (2020)
Okay
As a fan of the character, this could have been much better. The story was flat and the the voice acting never matched the characters they were playing. The animation style was also weird. What saved the movie was the gory action scene throughout. Nothing too crazy or extreme, but it saved the movie from being bad.
Suspiria (1977)
Loud and occasionally creepy
As a huge horror fan, Suspiria was not as good as I was hoping it would be. However, because I'm a big film fan, it helped me appreciate it more, and it's still not a bad movie. It's very well made and has some really great camera work on display. The acting is also much better than in most Italian horror films. The movie is very slow at times, but can get very creepy, which is a good thing. Even at a low volume, the movie is loud which adds to the creepiness. The opening murder is also intense and somewhat gory. This is not something I would probably watch again, but as a one time thing, it was good and definitely is responsible for many modern American horror films.
Quella villa accanto al cimitero (1981)
Fun splatter film
Another satisfying italian horror film. Like The Beyond (this movies predecessor) this movie has a decent plot, zero atrocious acting (though it's still not good) and lots of cool gory kills. A good end to the trilogy.
...E tu vivrai nel terrore! L'aldilà (1981)
Decent movie
This is much better than City of the Living Dead. It moves a bit faster and has a better plot. It's also much more well made than COTLD. The gore is also very crazy, many great effects, especially the dog attack which is one of the goriest things I've seen in an Italian horror film. Definitely a fun movie.
The Swap (2016)
Actually good
Just about all of the disney channel movies are dumb nowadays. The Swap is not, is has its surprisingly funny moments, and you actually care for the characters. The two main actors for a movie like this do a good job as each other. The plot is derivative of many other movies alike, but it does deal with deeper themes and they're handled well. Nothing fancy, but a surprisingly good movie.
Paura nella città dei morti viventi (1980)
Slow and gory
This movie is very slow and boring. Barley anything happens over the course of the 90 minutes. In terms of gore the drill kill was cool and the gut puke scene was nice and gross with realistic effects and disgusting sounds added, but nothing else happens in the film besides one or two other brief images of mild gore. Somewhat dumb movie, if you're watching just for the gore, just find those two scenes online, watching the whole film for those parts is not worth it.
The Night Comes for Us (2018)
Non-stop brutal action
The plot in this movie is decent, nothing special but not bad, but the action is great. Takes about 20 minutes to get into things, but that 20 minutes is needed for both the plot and so that the movie doesn't just start out with crazy action, and it goes by fast. Once the action hits, the movie is wild, violent, brutal and gory. Some really insane fight scenes and kills. Great action movie.
The Mind's Eye (2015)
Slow movie with a gory third act
This entire film was very slow. Nothing really happens besides some brief action every now and then. The acting is mediocre at best and the plot is very derivative. The only good part is the film's third act, which features some cool gory kills. The effects aren't the best but they're definitely gory enough to prevent the movie from being a complete waste of time. If the only reason you want to watch the movie is the gore, then skip to the last 20 minutes, you won't miss anything.
VFW (2019)
Wild gore-filled fun
VFW was a surprisingly enjoyable and entertaining movie. The acting was good all around and the main protagonists are so likeable that right off the bat you care for them. The dialogue was good and there was nice humor added to the mix along with a good plot and ending. To make it all better, the gore was insane, so of the craziest stuff I've seen in a modern day film, the gore is so great, that's all the movie needed to be good, they just went the extra mile and made a great movie on top of that.
Bad Taste (1987)
Silly, gory, and fun
Nothing special about this movie, though it's still a fun watch. About 90 minutes of cheap gore and silly humor. The gore was great, very fake and over the top, and the vomit scene is actually pretty gross(not because of the visuals, but the sound effects). The aliens were funny at the end. Nowhere near as good as Dead Alive but still funny and entertaining.
Rosso sangue (1981)
Nothing special
This movie offers nothing, unless you're here for the gore which is why I watched it, but even then that doesn't really deliver. The gore scenes are very spaced apart and the only scenes that are actually graphic are the drill and bandsaw scenes. Everything else is no worse than a Friday the 13th movie. The movie is boring and nothing really happens, and the dialogue was very bland. The only thing keeping this movie from being a waste was the kill scenes.
Intruder (1989)
Fun slasher film
Not alot to say about this movie. Had some cool kill scenes(watch the directors cut for all the gore, although even then they're not too gory) and fun cheesy dialogue. The movie ran at a good pace and was funny at times, and the acting was bad. About 90 minutes of fun is what you get with this movie, and that's it, take it or leave it.
