Man of God (2021)
Why in English?
The film's language should have been Greek. It's time for Greece to promote their language even in films that are made for international audience.
Alexa & Katie (2018)
A cute family TV series. Perfect Tiffani!
Such a cute family TV series, which deals with kids cancer in a respectable way. Actually I watched the show coz I'm a fan of Tiffani Thiessen. She is so talented and I wish I could enjoy more Tiffani in each episode. But I have to admit that the two girls and the rest of the cast did a perfect job. I think that a different approach of comic scenes in order to make them funnier is something that the director should have tried. It would be great if there were more seasons.
Ratched (2020)
It is worth it
Wonderful work, great story, nicely filmed. The actors have done a perfect job and it was a pleasure to watch two famous actresses like Cynthia Nixon and Sharon Stone in these series.
Salvation (2017)
Disappointing finale
That finale would be a good one if there was a 3rd season. But there was NOT! So, we don't know what happened finally and this is really bad... this is what you ask from a series, to watch its impressive, meaningful end. I was ready to give an 8, but after that finale... 7!
100 Humans: Are You Biased? (2020)
Biased episode
The whole episode is full of how you need to "hate" anything white, European etc in order to be considered progressive. Wrong experiments that lead to wrong conclusions.
Rise of Empires: Ottoman (2020)
Impressive but inaccurate
It's such a good production but guess what, it's so far away from historical accuracy. It focuses on the Ottoman side and ignores the situation in the Byzantine capital, except some thoughts and feelings of Emperor Constantine and his men. The last episode is so disappointing. It presents the fall of Constantinople and the next day in such a smooth way, without giving to us the desperation of the Constantinopolitans, the walking of the conquerors on dead bodies in the streets and the picture of a totally destroyed and depopulated city that Constantinople had the next day. This is what historical sources say, but the (Turkish) production decided to make the fall looks like something good and fair happened, presenting clearly the Ottoman perspective.
The Open House (2018)
Not bad until the end
It was a good story but I felt something between angry and idiot when it suddenly ended, asking myself "what happened?". So, 1...
BH90210 (2019)
Finally, Beverly Hills 90210 is back! Interesting with a big foul.
As a huge fan of the original series, I couldn't wait to watch the reboot. And finally I did it. The first thing that comes to my mind is that the show is very cool. The way the protagonists portray themselves combining elements from their characters in the original show and talk about their lives in a self-deprecating mood, about all that we've heard for so many years from the tabloids, is amazing. I am intrigued by the return of Shannen Doherty, but what bothers me is the production's obsession with the original cast. Tiffani Thiessen should have definitely been part of the reboot. She may not have been there from the beginning of the series, but so what, she marked the show for 4 and a half years, a whole era. I hope this reboot is the forerunner for something else, maybe a movie which will continue the story of the original BH 90210.
A Killer Among Friends (1992)
A terrific TV movie!
It's a terrific TV movie, one of the kind that makes me believe that some good made-for-TV movies are way more catchy and well-played than the majority of cinema films that are overrated, not to say a piece of trash.
A really affecting story about the murder of a teenage girl by her best friends. A true story turned into a movie in a wonderful way. The three lead actresses were awesome in their roles. Patty Duke is really good in portraying the tragic mother of the victim without a hint of exaggeration in her acting. Margaret Welsh is so good in the role of a girl with serious personality disorder that even her look is enough to convince you.
Regarding Tiffani Thiessen in the role of the beautiful and sweet girl who gets killed by her friends, she is excellent. Thiessen's performance in the shocking scene of her murder makes you feel the tragedy and despair the victim is experiencing in the last moments before the inevitable happens.
Son in Law (1993)
It's OK...
For me it's a typical comedy-drama-romance film of the early 90s. It is quite amusing, although Pauly Shore isn't the type of actor I really like; his ugly figure in this movie (I haven't seen him anywhere else so far) doesn't seem that funny to me and doesn't help in the romance/drama part of the film.
After an awkward start the film gets better towards the end. Carla Cugino is quite good but a bit sourpuss. I bet that if Tiffani-Amber Thiessen was the lead female character, the film would have been much better. In general I think that the choice of the two leading actors didn't really help a film that has an interesting plot.
Beverly Hills, 90210 (1990)
A legendary TV series
It's one of these series that have made history on TV, it's a legend and as the decades pass I feel that people will always talk about it. It's always interesting talking about its stories, its cast members, their characters and their off-screen lives and relationships.
All started when the Walsh family from Minnesota moved to Beverly Hills and siblings Brandon and Brenda became involved with a group of spoiled and coming from wealthy families kids. Actually I was never a regular viewer of the series in seasons 1-4. I wasn't into all these issue-based episodes and their morals in the first two seasons, although there were some good stories. And after that, the love triangle Brenda-Kelly-Dylan...OK. And let's go to the characters:
*Brenda, a selfish and rebellious girl who was interesting enough and was involved in some entertaining stories.
*Kelly, for some reason it was Kelly the girl I couldn't stand very much even if she grew throughout the show.
*Donna was always a foolish second-rate female character which I found funny enough.
*Andrea, who barely slept because she was too busy dealing with all her activities, most of the time went unnoticed for me.
*Brandon, the guy who tried so hard to adopt a cool way of walking and talking etc, a boring character who was involved in boring stories and fell in boring love with boring girls every now and then. Everything about him was so brandoning... sorry boring.
*Dylan, I always saw him as a junkie who caused me some kind of depression, the guy with the burned brain cells.
*Steve was Donna's male version but he never entertained me.
*David, the guy who rarely seemed in a good mood, barely smiled, dumped his best friend Scott to be with the cool gang of BH.
Maybe what was going on behind the scenes was way more catchy, Shannen Doherty behaving like a big-headed diva, her non-stop fights with Jennie Garth and all these onset troubles.
All of a sudden something changes in season 5 and guess what, Tiffani-Amber Thiessen arrives. I admit I had a huge crush on her and I still am a fan. Valerie, the sexy bad girl from Buffalo who came to fill the void after Brenda's departure, was the most interesting character of the entire show. Although she was the youngest of the cast members, she really brought some mature sexiness in the series (yes I know I'm not the first to say that). And Thiessen, the former America's sweetheart from "Saved by the Bell", was wonderful in portraying a charming multilevel character.
In the Valerie era the stories became much more interesting and although most of Brenda's fans stopped watching it, the show got better at least for the following three seasons. Kathleen Robertson's character Clare was also a good addition to the show. The renewed group of female characters, Kelly, Valerie, Donna and Clare was more appealing than the previous one with Brenda, Kelly, Donna and Andrea. I still wish I could watch Valerie and Brenda together though. Seasons 5-7 were the best for me and to be honest I could not wait to see the next episode. I didn't miss Luke Perry when he left, but Robertson's departure at the end of season 7 was a bit disappointing.
And then coming in the three final seasons, 8-10. Season 8 was still good enough but not as much entertaining as seasons 5-7. It was the beginning of kinda failed cast additions like Hilary Swank, Vincent Young, and later Lindsay Price, Daniel Cosgrove and Vanessa Marcil. I didn't like either of them. Furthermore, the show had the normal decline after so many years, but the major blow came in the beginning of season 9. At first we saw Jason Priestley, who seemed to me more and more boring, leaving the show. And then it was Tiffani-Amber Thiessen who left and that meant "Beverly Hills, 90210" was over for me. The episodes with both departures were season's peak in ratings and after Thiessen had left each episode was a new rating disaster until the end of season 10 and the series finale. Even Perry's return didn't help the show which was so deformed.
It's difficult to rate a series as a whole since it has its ups and downs throughout its running. But in my opinion I have to rate it according to its impact on me at least in a certain period that I was a regular viewer. My favorite seasons were 5-7 and they made me such a huge fan of "Beverly Hills, 90210". Even now I am always interested in everything around that series and I feel lucky that I'm part of that generation that grew up watching the most famous TV teen drama.
Saved by the Bell: Wedding in Las Vegas (1994)
The last breath was nice!
And finally Zack and Kelly are getting married, the end that everybody had been waiting for. The movie couldn't let its fans down and fortunately it didn't.
Everybody was fine, the students grew up but the movie didn't lose its spice. In the leading roles, Mark-Paul Gosselaar is more mature and sweetheart Tiffani-Amber Thiessen has already transformed to the beautiful young woman of her "Beverly Hills, 90210" era.
The gang is here for their final funny adventure, and the presence of Elizabeth Berkley in the wedding completes the last breath of a legendary show, which left us with so many sweet memories.
Spy (2015)
It is worth it!
The film is so amusing and I feel like it's really worth it. I spent two hours in a very pleasant way.
Melissa McCarthy is so talented and she proves it for one more time. She is unique in making everything look funny. If you are a fan of her, she won't disappoint you, she gives what you expect from her.
Rose Byrne is really good in this film too.
The film combines elements of a good spy film, with a neat plot and a wonderful female comedian in the leading role, surrounded by nice actors.
It would be great to watch a sequel.
The Unauthorized Saved by the Bell Story (2014)
Interesting but...
The movie was interesting enough, but just because it was Dustin Diamond's version, it makes it difficult for someone to watch (and believe) it without any trace of prejudice.
But the worst thing is that the whole plot is weird. All of a sudden Diamond is the center of the universe and the other 5 cast members revolve around him. Diamond is the josher but at the same time the mature one, the rest just join him on the set. We didn't see much about their lives out there, their thoughts and their problems.
The young actors were very good in their roles. Unfortunately, the movie didn't meet my expectations, since in this kind of movies I need to see a collection of verified information from different people who were involved and an equitably shared time to the protagonists.
The Unauthorized Beverly Hills, 90210 Story (2015)
Incomplete and disappointing
The movie was a bit disappointing for several reasons, but mainly because it was incomplete, since it only focused on the first 4 seasons of "Beverly Hills, 90210", namely less than half of the entire show.
But even this "incomplete" movie showed little beyond the ongoing feud between Shannen Doherty and Jennie Garth, and in general the former's problems with the rest of the cast. Someone could say that this is normal since Doherty causing off-screen troubles for 4 seasons was the hot topic for the tabloids, but that movie should have been more than that.
As a result the rest of the cast members, who were portrayed in the movie, were marginalized. It was really weird that there was not even a mention of Carol Potter and James Eckhouse, the Walsh parents.
Tiffani Thiessen was the most important of the non original cast members and the only one to be portrayed in the movie, since she landed one of the major female roles of the entire show. But she was included only for a couple of minutes at the end of the movie, although there were always rumors about her not being welcomed by the other female leads (Garth and Spelling) in the beginning, something that could make the movie go on. Additionally, we could have seen more cast members such as Kathleen Robertson.
Casting was successful, the actors were great and really got to the point. They did help us getting into the spirit of the original show, definitely more than spin-off "90210" did.
Actually the movie was something like "The Unauthorized Shannen Doherty Story". Omissions, obsessions, inaccuracies and the absence of the 6 following seasons, prevented the movie from giving the feeling of satisfaction to a true "Beverly Hills, 90210" fan.
