Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
If you didn't like it, you just didn't get it.
I loved the first movie, and if you're reading this, then so did you. This movie is silly, so silly. Just like the first. Keaton did an amazing job of bringing back the ghost with the most. I like Ortega and Ryder, but these two are the reason I gave it a 9 and not a 10. Ryder with the same gothic look just felt wrong to me. And Ortega just seemed a little lackluster in emotion. But that is just my opinion. Everything else I loved. The first cameo was awesome. I didn't see if coming, and just in case you don't know, I won't spoil it.
There are plenty of wacky ghosts, Bob has a job, Beatleguise has a past, and it's all great fun.
If you are looking for a fun movie to watch and are a fan of the original, this is a good choice to go see.
The Munsters (2022)
Very funny movie. So spot on with the original series.
Everyone that is posting negative reviews, must never have or liked the original series. I would have given it a ten, but the green was a little too bright and a little out of place. Everything else was so good. Herman was pretty good, Lilly even better.... but I'm sorry, but Grandpa stole the show for me. He was awesome. This movies tone and silliness perfectly pays homage to the original.
I know this is more of a "When Herman met Lilly" movie, but I would have loved to see more of the other family members.
So it all boils down to perception. I you loved the original series, you will love this movie.
Orphan: First Kill (2022)
Just wow
I actually started to watch the original, and it just really wasn't appealing to me. So I saw the prequal list, again, never saw the original. There was nothing on streaming that I cared about and hadn't already seen.
S o I gave the prequal a try... and it was awesome. The backstory made all the difference to me. I actually watched it twice back to back because I felt like I had missed something, and even the second watch I couldn't look away.
After enjoying the prequal so much, I gave the original another try, and loved it as well. If you watch the prequal first and then the original, so many more things click.
I think anyone reading these reviews would enjoy these movies, and I'm a pretty hard critic.
Babardeala cu bucluc sau porno balamuc (2021)
Not as plot says
This movie is not what is described, It is however a very good movie. The first 2 minutes in the first chapter is porn. For the rest of the chapter the female protagonist only has a few lines. The extras have more lines then she has. We are instead treated to watching her walk the town for 20 minutes while the camera focuses on buildings and other structures.
Chapter 2 has absolutely nothing to do with the protagonist, but instead focuses on Romanian history. It shows films during Hitlers exploits and Romanian ideology. It does provide a deeper look into Romanian life and history that I was unaware of. But has nothing to do with the plot.
Chapter 3 where our protagonist is on trial by the parents of her school adds to the plot, but seems like more of a way of the director to get his political ideology across. It was very interesting to watch as all of this outrage seems to be very accurate of what's going on in the world today.
There are 3 endings you can choose to accept. 1. She gets voted to keep her job. 2. she gets voted out and leaves quietly. And 3. She gets voted out and turns into a superhero who attacks the parents with a dildo she shoves in their mouth,
The only humor in the movie comes as ending three.
Not the movie I paid to see. But a movie with a real message that I'm glad I watched.
The Serpent Queen (2022)
Awesome
I really didn't know what to expect from this show. Episode 1 was really perfect. Without giving away spoilers, it's really hard to give a full review. Samantha Morton and Liv Hill did an excellent job playing Catherine.
The acting, directing, and cinematography was spot on.
Charles Dance from The Game of Thrones was perfect as the Pope.
And Colm Meaney as King Francis was a great choice.
The tone of the first episode was tense, with relief later in the episode.
The bringing of Catherine's court was brilliant.
Breaking the fourth wall was an inspired choice, letting the viewer in on the inner thinking of the queen and queen to be.
The strength and cunning that Liv Hill and Samantha Morton give Catherine makes this a very exciting version of a historical figure.
As a first episode, it was awesome. The fact that it is a miniseries is a little disappointing.
This is an add on to my review. After watching the full series, it was so much better than what I had expected. If you like period pieces, you will love this original take on Queen and Mary. It's just so good.
The Wheel of Time (2021)
Changes
The changes don't make sense. They say its to update with the times.... .but the books are about how women dominate the new world. So making a change to where a woman can be the dragon reborn... makes no sense. A thousand years ago, in a utopian society, men destroyed the world and tainted the male half of the source (of power). Which is why the white tower is at odds with a MAN being reborn with so much power is an issue. The main issue in the books. Making the characters older makes no sense, giving perrin a wife to kill makes no sense. Almost all of it makes no sense. I do like it. It is nice to see. Acting and special effects are nice. But the changes, which from what I see are not warranted. It doesn't help the story to move forward... it's just nonsense. And as far as all the NON white characters in a close knit town on the edge of obscurity, also makes no sense, as we see many different people and cultures throughout the books. I do like the show, but its obvious that the writers never read the series. Which makes me sad... because I so much want to see a true adaptation of the books. But for the few who haven't read the books.... I'm sure you will love the series... and you should.
