Concrete Cowboy (2020)
Could have been so good.
About as much story development as a music video, littered with predictable movie tropes with a terrible ending of a horse that's allowed to go back to its 1 bed council flat. Give the characters arcs that develop in unpredictable ways and a storyline that's weaved with twists and turns and this could have been so much more than a good soundtrack over offspeed stylistic shots.
The Sinner (2017)
Season 1 and 2 brilliant, forget season 3- don't bother!
Season 1 and 2 were brilliant storytelling with great arcs, a constant game of whodunnit' leaving you eating through the episodes in a true Netflix binge.
Season 3 they obviously tried to do something different, a reverse story develop where we already know the murderer and all he's done. Which when done well can be incredible in it's own right..BUT.. the lack of mystery needs to be replaced with twists and unexpected turns. All season 3 had was 'grand reveals' of already gained information, desperate attempts to encourage the viewer to emphasise with unlikable personalities and the deaths of characters we had no connection to. Rather than the troughs and peaks of a normal character arc all we had was the monotonous flatline tone of their arc and season 3. Like season 8 of Game of Thrones and season 2 of True Detective, give season 3 a miss and don't let it taint your feeling towards an otherwise brilliant show.
Race Across the World (2019)
Great programme but too much backstory repeat
When it's good, its great but there's a hell of a lot of back (and sob) story repeated over and over again. Totally unnecessary. Really doesn't need a presenter and should stick to current format.
