Bollywood heist comedy “Crew,” starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon, is a hit and producers Ektaa R Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor are looking at a sequel.

It follows three flight attendants with a failing airline who get involved in gold smuggling to a fictitious Middle Eastern country in an operation that’ll save them and their unpaid colleagues financially. It has been a bountiful score for the film, allowing it to find a place amongst the Top-5 weekend openers of all time. Interestingly, three out of these have come post-pandemic – Gangubai Kathiawadi, The Kerala Story, and Crew, each of which belongs to a different genre. That said, while the first two in the list are hard-hitting dramas, its Crew, which is light-hearted.

Mumbai, Feb 1 (Ians) Bollywood actress Ananya Panday is set to headline a cyber-thriller film. The yet-to-be-titled film is being directed by filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, who is known for films like ‘Lootera’, ‘Udaan’, ‘Bhavesh Joshi Superhero’, and ‘Ak vs. Ak’.

Talking about the film, Ananya said, “When Vikramaditya Motwane approached me with this story, I just knew I had to be part of it. As a filmmaker, he has been on my wish list for as long as I can remember and I feel really lucky to be working with him this early in my career.”

Vikramaditya Motwane, who is at the helm of affairs for the film, said, “This is a thriller with modern-day appeal and very relevant to our times. It’s going to be really interesting to see Ananya Panday in this role since it’s something she hasn’t attempted before.”

Bollywood A-lister Kareena Kapoor Khan is marking a new phase in her glittering career with a brace of films that she terms as “shockingly different.”

Kapoor Khan has wrapped a project that shot in the U.K. under the working title “The Buckingham Murders,” directed by Hansal Mehta (“Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story”). The actor plays a detective and mother who investigates a murder in a sleepy little town in Buckinghamshire. Kapoor Khan said that her character is inspired in part by Kate Winslet’s role in “Mare of Easttown.”

“I love ‘Mare of Easttown’ and when Hansal came to me, I said this is something that I’ve really been dying to do. So we’ve molded a little bit on those lines, she plays a detective cop in that,” Kapoor Khan told Variety. “It’s the first time that I’ve dabbled in that.”

Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon has started prepping for her next, an action drama directed by Anurag Kashyap. Under the guidance of ace director Kashyap, Kriti has already embarked upon acting workshops and dialogue and language coaching for her next.

According to close sources, it’s one of the fiercest female characters that’s ever been written in Hindi Cinema by Kashyap.

It was rumoured that the said film is a remake of the cult Hollywood film, ‘Kill Bill’ but Kashyap has always denied it.

Unfazed by the box-office failure of Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, where she played his character’s love interest, Kareena Kapoor has started work on her maiden production. She, however, has not revealed its name or other details.

Netflix has set a mid-year release date for “Thar,” a revenge thriller film starring and produced by Anil Kapoor.

Marking the feature directorial debut of screenwriter Raj Singh Chaudhary, the 1980s-set film follows the story of a man who moves to a big town to seek a job and to avenge his past.

Alongside Kapoor, the film also stars Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Satish Kaushik.

The screenplay is credited to Chaudhury, with dialog by Chaudhary and Anurag Kashyap. Cinematography is by Shreya Dev Dube and music direction by Ajay Jayanthi.

“The genre itself – a noir thriller set in Rajasthan that pays tribute to the genre of the classic Western is a first for Indian cinema and audiences. ‘Thar’ is a playground where the dynamism of new blood meets the experience of industry stalwarts, both on and off screen,” said Kapoor, who produced through his Anil Kapoor Film Company Network.

Actor-producer Nikhil Dwivedi dragged Kamaal Rashid Khan aka Krk to court for his slanderous tweets and making baseless allegations against him and his company. After initially ignoring Krk’s posts last September, the Veere Di Wedding and Dabangg 3 producer chose the legal route when the latter again started posting defamatory content against him in January this year.

Recently, the High Court ruled in Nikhil’s favour and granted an injunction against Krk from posting anything about the actor-producer, either directly or indirectly.

His lawyer Kartikeya Desai, said, "Our client Mr Nikhil Dwivedi, an actor, producer has filed a lawsuit against Mr Kamaal R Khan for the slanderous tweets and YouTube videos, which were posted by Mr Kamaal R Khan wherein he had made defamatory statements and also baseless allegations against Mr Dwivedi. The series of tweets and other posts were categorically reproduced in the said suit filed by Mr Dwivedi.

Principal photography began on Monday in Glasgow, Scotland, on “Blind,” a Bollywood remake of the eponymous 2011 Korean action thriller.

Sonam Kapoor (“Veere Di Wedding”) headlines the cast, which also includes Purab Kohli (“Sense8”) and Vinay Pathak (“A Suitable Boy”).

“Blind” follows a woman who loses her sight after a car accident, only to find her other senses develop, allowing her to help the police in an ongoing investigation.

New Delhi, Dec 8 (Ians) Actress Shikha Talsania has revealed that performing on screen is the love of her life and just wants to perform.

Shikha, daughter of veteran actor Tiku Talsania, has worked in films as "Wake Up Sid!" and "Veere Di Wedding".

On what she aspired to do, Shikha told Ians: "Everything that I haven't done so far. Be it a thriller, an action movie, dramedy, romantic comedy, sci-fi. I just want to perform. I am a performer and I love performing. It is the love of my life so I just want to perform."

Shikha will next be seen in David Dhawan's "Coolie No 1", starring Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan. She plays Sara's sister in the film, which is a remake of the 1995 hit movie starring Govinda and Karisma Kapoor.
