Who will win Record of the Year at the 2025 Grammys? This award goes to the artists, producers, and engineers of the year’s best single. That’s where this differs from Song of the Year, which goes specifically to songwriters. Though this award is not technically a popularity contest, commercial success is typically a major factor, like Miley Cyrus‘s reigning champion “Flowers,” a blockbuster that spent several weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. So will the next winner be a big hit as well? Scroll down to see our official racetrack odds, which are calculated based on the combined predictions of Gold Derby users. The odds are always changing, so we’ll be updating this list as the season progresses.
For most of history there were five Grammy nominees in the Record of the Year category, same as there were for Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.

Two years ago, after it bowed in cinema theaters in Spain, Alauda Ruiz de Azúa’s feature debut “Lullaby” was described by Pedro Almodóvar as “undoubtedly the best Spanish debut for years.” So the big question at a set visit last October was what she would make of her first TV series “Querer.” That set visit gave some inkling.
Now the full answer is out, as the premium mini series, selected out of competition at San Sebastián, screened to the press in the entirety of its 212 minutes on Thursday night.
That total screening is understandable. “Querer” begins with Miren, the wife in a seemingly perfect marriage in outward appearance, goes to a police station to accuse her husband over 30 years of sexual assault. This and following episodes records the divergent impact of her decision on her elder son Aitor, loyal to his father and his demeanour, and his younger brother Jon,...

Sometimes, seemingly inoffensive music inspires a lot of controversy. For example, Miley Cyrus’ “Flowers” has received criticism for its similarities to Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man.” This controversy is overblown.
Why people think Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’ is too similar to Bruno Mars’ ‘When I Was Your Man’
“When I Was Your Man” has the lyrics “I should’ve bought you flowers / And held your hand / Should’ve gave you all my hours.” “Flowers” has “I can buy myself flowers / Write my name in the sand / Talk to myself for hours.” Similar? Yes. Plagiarism? No.
At most, “Flowers” is an homage to “When I Was Your Man.” That’s not a crime. Most of music is built on homage. Beyond that, “When I Was Your Man” is a slow pop ballad and “Flowers” is a disco track. The tunes have entirely different melodies. Nobody could possibly confuse one song with the other.

Miley Cyrus is being sued for copyright infringement by Tempo Music Investments over her 2023 hit song “Flowers.”
The company is alleging that Cyrus, 31, copied Bruno Mars‘ song, “When I Was Your Man,” which was released 10 years earlier. The lawsuit claims that Cyrus “intentionally” copied the song due to the similarities between both tracks.
Tempo Music Investment believes that the chord progressions in “Flowers” are the same as the progressions in Mars’ song and that some of Cyrus’ lyrics copy those of Mars’ track.

The Season 33 premiere of “Dancing With the Stars” kicked off Tuesday night with controversial con artist Anna Delvey, popularized in Netflix’s “Inventing Anna,” dancing in a bedazzled ankle monitor. No one was sent home in Week 1, but co-host Alfonso Ribeiro announced that there would be two eliminations next week.
Delvey ended up in the middle of the 13 couples score-wise, but at the top of the leaderboard was “Pretty Little Liars” star Chandler Kinney, who performed a sizzling tango to “Hot To Go!” by Chappell Roan with partner Brandon Armstrong.
Judge Bruno Tonioli told Kinney, “Oh my God, this was one of the best [first dances]” ever, while Carrie Ann Inaba told her it was “amazing” and that the actress had “set the bar” for Season 33. The suit was filed Monday in Los Angeles federal court by partial copyright holder Tempo Music Investments, which claims “Flowers” incorporates unauthorized elements of Mars’ 2013 ballad “When I Was Your Man.” Mars is not named as a plaintiff.
The complaint also names Cyrus co-writers Gregory Hein and Michael Pollack as defendants. Sony Music Publishing, Apple, Target, Walmart and several other companies are accused in the suit of distributing the song.

Miley Cyrus has been sued for allegedly ripping off Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man” for her Grammy-winning hit song “Flowers.”
The lawsuit, filed in California federal court on Monday, was brought by Tempo Music Investments, which acquired in 2020 a share of the copyright to the Mars track from songwriter Philip Lawrence. It accuses Cyrus of “intentional copying” constituting infringement.
Songwriters Gregory Hein and Michael Pollock, who cowrote the song with Cyrus, Sony Music Publishing, and distributors of the song, including Apple, Live Nation and Amazon, were also named in the complaint, which doesn’t involve Mars on either side.
“Flowers,” written after Cyrus’ divorce with Liam Hemsworth, became an overnight hit when it debuted in January 2023 at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it stayed for eight weeks. A year later, it earned Cyrus her first Grammy.

Singer and pop star Miley Cyrus’ hit song Flowers is back on the news. However, it is not another win for the Hannah Montana star, as she became the recipient of a lawsuit. According to TMZ, the singer was sued by an investment firm that shared the rights to Bruno Mars’ When I Was Your Man, citing the similarities between the two tracks.
Flowers won the Grammys last year for Record of the Year, making it the first win for Miley Cyrus. The similarities between the two songs have been brought up before, but they reportedly end with some of Cyrus’ lyrics being a response to Mars’ song. It’s been a good week for Basque directors Jon Garaño and Aitor Arregi, who, along with Jose Mari Goenaga, world premiered “Marco” at Venice and landed a spot on the shortlist for Spain’s Oscar entry.
Sold by Film Factory Entertainment, with market screenings in Toronto and upcoming stops at San Sebastian, London and Vancouver, “Marco” is generating significant buzz. Based on real events, it centers on Enric Marco, an imposter who gained sympathy, fame, and respect by falsely claiming to be a concentration camp survivor while serving as chairman of the leading Spanish association for deportees. His story was a lie.
The filmmakers initially aimed to capture Marco’s downfall as a documentary, but like everything he touched, truth slipped away. He told them he was going to Germany to get papers from a prison he’d stayed in. The filmmakers wanted to accompany and capture key footage.

Sabrina Carpenter dropped her sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet,” on August 23, but it’s her most consequential release yet, coming on the heels of two breakthrough hit singles: “Espresso,” which has so far peaked at number-three on the Billboard Hot 100, and “Please Please Please,” her first chart-topper. The new album includes those two blockbusters, but how do the other 10 tracks compare?
Thus far, “Short n’ Sweet” has a strong MetaCritic score of 78 based on 14 reviews counted thus far: 12 are classified as positive and two are mixed, but none are negative. Jem Aswad (Variety) is especially fond of the collection, calling it “the powerful next step in her evolution as an artist, person and persona.” It “seals her arrival as a pop superstar,” according to Rob Sheffield (Rolling Stone). My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. Miley Cyrus in My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman. Cr. Terence Patrick/Netflix © 2024 Since Hannah Montana ended its run in 2011, Miley Cyrus has devoted nearly all of her efforts to building up her music career. And she’s done so very successfully: Each of her four studio albums (plus an EP) have made the Top 5, and she’s had a pair of No. 1 singles, with Wrecking Ball and last year’s Flowers, which is still on the Adult Contemporary chart. Meanwhile, her acting career has, for the most part, been on the back burner. With the occasional exception, like her excellent 2019 episode of Black Mirror, most of her screen appearances have come as, well, Miley Cyrus. In an interview with W Magazine, though, Cyrus announced that she’s once again interested in pursuing her acting career, provided the right roles come along.

The “Flowers” singer was honored with the Disney Legend award during the D23 Expo in Anaheim, and she got emotional when she accepted it.
“I’m gonna let everybody get in on a little Disney Legend secret. I’m the one that tells you what you’re not supposed to know,” Cyrus said while accepting the honor. “And what I want to say is that legends get scared, too. I’m scared right now, but the difference is we do it anyway — and all of you can do that every single day. It’s legendary to be afraid, and do it anyway.”
Cyrus joked that in 2005, “Disney was on a mission to rebuild and reimagine the company. That’s why they hired Bob Iger and me.” The...

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were couple goals until things ultimately went south and the two ended things on a rough note. The two met each other on the set of The Last Song (2010) and began dating soon after. After a few years, not free of trouble, the two tied the knot in 2018. Fast forward to the year after when the two ended up going their separate ways.

Now, Liam Hemsworth is with model/actress Gabriella Brooks. According to reports, the two began dating in 2019 and their relationship turned serious the next year. The couple is still going strong and while the next step in their relationship would have been a rock on Brooks’ ring finger, it looks like they don’t have any plans to tie the knot and Liam Hemsworth’s failed marriage with Miley Cyrus might be a big reason why.
