The Shetland islands only have a population of 22,000 – roughly a tenth of the number of people who go to Glastonbury Festival – so up there, you can expect to run into the same faces time and again. It’s no different for Scottish actors on TV. There are only a finite number, and in a long-running series like BBC One’s Shetland, sometimes cast-members get recycled from one role to another.

That’s what happened with Ann Louise Ross, the actor who plays farmer and widower Agnes Moffat in Shetland series eight. We first met Agnes in episode one, when (temporary Di) Tosh is investigating a series of livestock murders. Several of Agnes’ sheep have been found with their throats cut and daubed in their blood with a mysterious symbol.

The Peabody Awards have announced 11 entertainment and children’s programs among this year’s 30 winners today. Netflix is one of the day’s big winners with three programs garnering nods, including Cary Fukunaga’s war drama “Beasts of No Nation” starring Idris Elba, Aziz Ansari’s comedy series “Master of None,” and the Krysten Ritter–fronted drama series “Marvel’s Jessica Jones.” Dramas comprise much of this year’s selection between the wins for SundanceTV’s “Deutschland 83,” USA Network’s “Mr. Robot,” HBO’s “The Leftovers,” Lifetime’s “UnREAL,” and PBS’ “Wolf Hall.” ABC’s family comedy “Black-ish,” Amazon’s dramedy “Transparent,” and CBeebies’ children series “Katie Morag” round out the rest of this year’s Peabody recipients for entertainment and children’s programming. Winners in the entertainment and children's categories of the Peabody Awards were announced on Friday, honoring an eclectic array of television series (and one movie) including a network comedy, a reality show send-up, prestige cable dramas, and buzzworthy streaming series.

The 75th annual awards, given by the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, are meant to distinguish excellence in electronic media, though in years past, the organization's parameters have expanded considerably in terms of what specific formats are honored. "Serial" made headlines in 2014 when it was the first ever podcast selected for a Peabody; this year's offbeat selection is "Beasts of No Nation," Netflix's feature film that's the only movie among the multiple television honorees. (Winners in the documentary and education categories will be announced later this month.)

The ABC3 teen drama created by Tony Ayres and produced by Beth Frey is in the running for the international award along with Cartoon Network's Clarence and Adventure Time and Disney Xd's Gravity Falls. BBC2/Lion TV.s gruesomely entertaining history show Horrible Histories leads the nominations with nods for comedy and writing for the Magna Carta episode and for Jessica Ransom's portrayal of Mary, Queen of Scots. Peppa Pig received its ninth nomination for pre-school: animation and its fourth in the writer category.

Horrible Histories could be heading to success at this year's British Academy Children's Awards after being nominated in three categories.

The programme leads the nominations with nods in the Comedy and Writing categories, while Jessica Ransom is also nominated in the performer category for her turn as Mary, Queen of Scots.

Elsewhere, The Incredible Adventures of Professor Branestawm is nominated in the Comedy category, while star Harry Hill is also a contender.

Meanwhile, Peppa Pig is up for awards in the Preschool: Animation and Writer categories, while Operation Ouch! is in the running for a Factual award.

Operation Ouch! hosts Drs Alexander and Chris van Tulleken are nominated for Presenter awards, as are Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes of Sam & Mark's Big Friday Wind-Up.

Harriet's Army has nominations for Drama and Writer, while The Dumping Ground, Wolfblood and Katie Morag are all up for Drama awards.

Line of Duty, Casualty and Harry Enfield & Paul Whitehouse have won at the Royal Television Society Programme Awards 2013-2014.

The event - which honours excellence across all genres of television programming - took place at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday (March 17), hosted by John Sergeant.

Line of Duty picked up Best Drama Series, Best Actress went to Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire and Best Actor was won by Tom Hollander (A Poet in New York).

Casualty beat Coronation Street and EastEnders to claim Best Soap, while comedy Harry & Paul's Story of the Twos received two awards from its three nominations.

Strictly Come Dancing's Claudia Winkleman also took home Entertainment Performance, The Graham Norton Show won for Entertainment Programme and The Island With Bear Grylls triumphed in the Popular, Factual and Features category.

Nominated in the Best Documentary series category are Benefits Street, Bedlam, Life in Death Row, Long Lost Family, My Last Summer and Protecting Our Parents.

Best Soaps/Continuing Drama sees Casualty, Coronation Street, EastEnders, Emmerdale, Holby City and Hollyoaks nominated.

Meanwhile, Gogglebox, Child Genius, Karl Pilkington: The Moaning Of Life, Pound Shop Wars, The Great British Bake Off and The Island with Bear Grylls are all up for Best Popular Factual Programme.

The Lego Movie won Best Feature Film at the Bafta Children’s Awards in London last night (Nov 23).

The Warner Bros. film, directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, beat competition from Disney’s Frozen and Maleficent as well as Dreamworks’ How To Train Your Dragon 2.

However, Frozen took the top film prize in the Bafta Kids’ vote, based on more than 200,000 votes from children aged 7-14.

The ceremony, held at London’s Roundhouse, also saw nine-year-old Cherry Campbell become the youngest Bafta winner ever, winning Best Performer for her title role in kids drama series Katie Morag.

The show, about a feisty young girl who lives on a Scottish island with her family, also won the award for Best Drama.

Campbell was seven when she started making Katie Morag, based on the books of Mairi Hedderwick.
