- Swarnava and Mili, divorced five years, spend a night reflecting. Divided into Ice Cube, Melting Point, and Defrost, the story explores their emotional journey. The "Deep Fridge" symbolizes their buried feelings and ongoing struggles.
- Divorces can be tricky and tough, our human brains have evolved to hone a drive for love and partnership that lasts just long enough until one is predisposed. Most healthy marriages end up in divorce either due to one's indiscretion or towering ego. And in this case both Swarnava and Mili are victims of this vicious, prejudiced idea of a perfectly happy marriage. The narrative starts five years after their divorce, on an evening, which brings them together under one roof for the whole night, first time post their allegedly ugly divorce, though we keep reminiscing the past in flashbacks through the entire narrative, but it is about this one tainted night. Here's to a night of remembrance, a night of introspect, a night of realization and a night of closure. Under unusual circumstances an unplanned stay over at Mili's house, help Swarnava and Mili address their pain and seek for closure and see things with more clarity, in an effort to build a guilt free future for both of them separately and put their current relationships into perspective, which is only fair to their current partners and their only child together Tatai. Deep Fridge plays the third lead to Swarnava and Mili in this narrative and is constantly used as a metaphor/ character when the need arises. A rock solid chunk of emotions buried deep inside the freezer, not only serves as a metaphor to Mili's inner demons, but also a friend in need and an escape for Swarnava time and again. We will figure out once we get to the good part of the night in the coming paragraphs. The narrative and the night of errors is divided into three parts. Ice Cube, Melting Point and Defrost, which not only define the state of mind of its two main characters but also the gradual progress in their perspectives as the night progresses to dawn, in three beautifully and well etched chapters.—Cbfcindia
