This movie is not for every Scouting audience. In parts, the language is occasionally harsh and there are some uniforming anomalies that will annoy BSA purists. Having said that, this movie fulfills a mission to inspire inner-city and/or low-income youth to choose the path of the Scout Oath and Law, the adventure and the bond of brotherhood. Pride, purpose, and determination win out over the so-called "no snitching" code of the neighborhood.
The depiction of young scouts being introduced to their first camping adventure has some accurate features and a few that are not common in most units (camping and hiking in full Class A, for instance), however the wonder at being immersed in nature and away from the harsh realities of the streets is very inspiring. I recommend this to Scouts, Leaders, and Parents who want to validate the decision to enroll their boys in Scouting in order to keep them on a path to success and a life lived according to the values of the BSA.
