More than a decade ago, “Transformers” was not only the biggest moneymaker for Paramount, but for the entire box office. The live-action/CGI series started by Michael Bay in 2007 grossed $5.2 billion worldwide, with two installments topping $1 billion.
“Transformers One,” which pivots the long-running franchise to animation, won’t make anywhere near that amount. But it doesn’t need to. With a lower production budget than its Bayhem brethren, Paramount is looking for this film to be a more modest success that legs out well into October, refreshes interest in the Autobots, and helps build the studio’s image as a growing player in theatrical animation.
Plus, selling a few million truckloads of toys wouldn’t hurt either.
Last year, the live-action/CGI “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” had a break-even run at the box office. Without the boost from Chinese moviegoers that past “Transformers” installments enjoyed, the film grossed $439.2 million...

The 25th anniversary of Deep Blue Sea is generally not seen as a significant cultural event. In the grand context of a world spinning wildly off its axis, finding time to remember that movie where scientists use shark brains to cure Alzheimer’s can be difficult.
Yet Deep Blue Sea deserves to be remembered. Not for the events of the film itself—though it is, remarkably, still one of the best shark movies ever made—but rather for the incredible original rap song that plays over its end credits, “Deepest Bluest (Shark’s Fin).” In that rousing ballad, rapper and Deep Blue Sea co-star LL Cool J delivers what could best be described as a shark’s diss track to the rest of the world sung from the shark’s perspective. Best remembered for the lyric, “Deepest, bluest, my hat is like a shark’s fin,” it occasionally makes the...

The Seth Rogen-produced film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” was a tremendous commercial and critical success when it hit theaters in 2023. Building on that momentum, Paramount+ is bringing this newest iteration of the turtles back in a brand-new limited animated series. “Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will hit the streaming service on August 9, the first new series in the franchise since 2018’s “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.”
The creative pedigree behind the show is significant. Between them, showrunners Chris Yost and Alan Wan have worked on every animated incarnation of the turtles since 2003.
In Wan’s case, he’s been moving up the production ladder with each subsequent show with which he’s been involved. He started out as a storyboard artist for the 2003 Ninja Turtles show developed by 4Kids Entertainment. For the 2012 CGI Nickelodeon show, he was a director for individual episodes. By...

"Don't turn her on."
Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles star Megan (or should that be M3GAN?) Fox has lined up a new sci-fi/horror role in Millennium Media's Subservience, which will also star Michele Morrone (365 Days).
Written by Will Honley and April Maguire, the story focuses on "Alice, a lifelike artificially intelligent android, who has the ability to take care of any family and home. Looking for help with the housework, a struggling father (Morrone) purchases Alice after his wife becomes sick. Alice suddenly becomes self-aware and wants everything her new family has to offer, starting with the affection of her owner – and she’ll kill to get it.”
The concept is obviously very similar to another recent killer AI horror flick which borrows its title from Ms. Fox's first name, but director S.K. Dale's previous movie with Fox, Till Death, is actually well worth a watch.

From out of the shadows of indie comic books to the bright lights of Hollywood, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is one of the unlikeliest success stories in modern popular culture. Centered around juvenile ninjutsu masters Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo, and Donatello, plus their many friends and enemies, Tmnt has outlived most other franchises from the 1980s. Its cultural dominance of 40 years is asserted across comics, cartoons, big-budget movies, and, of course, collectors’ shelves.
What has given the Ninja Turtles their lasting legs, aside from their intense training, is simply the genius of creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. Tmnt began life as a comic book from Eastman and Laird’s humble Mirage Studios, (so named because Mirage wasn’t an actual company and was based out of their apartment). The Batman movie from earlier this year was pretty cool, right? It showed Batman as a gritty detective trying to save Gotham City. Director Matt Reeves wants to expand on that dark, mystery-filled world of Gotham. But not all of his plans are going to happen.
Some projects are moving ahead while others got canceled. Let me break down what we know so far about where the Batman franchise is going.
One thing we can look forward to is a new TV show focused on The Penguin character from the movie. Played brilliantly by Colin Farrell, Penguin will star in his own eight-episode series on HBO starting September 19th. The show’s creator, Lauren LeFranc, said it will bridge the gap between the first Batman movie and the planned sequel in 2026. So get ready to see more of Penguin’s rise to power in Gotham’s seedy underworld!
However, not everything is going so smoothly.

Megan Fox commanded a lot of appeal in the industry during the early days of her career. The actress found herself at the center of a lot of media attention thanks to the way in which she was depicted in films. Comics books have weird crossovers all the time. The Punisher has shown up in Riverdale to hang out with Archie and his pals. The Green Lantern Corp has inducted Apes from Planet of the Apes into its ranks. The Batman has had so many crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, that it’s practically a once in two years even. So, it is not all that odd that audiences have seen the X-Men rub shoulders with the crew of the Enterprise.

In video game development, or any creative piece of media, be it a movie, TV show, or book, there are always ideas that get left out of the final product. In the video game industry, there is a website known as The Cutting Room Floor which houses all the left-out ideas and content that players find in games that have already been released.
Rocksteady Studios, creators of the highly acclaimed Batman: Arkham games, decided in the development of Arkham City, to not leave any idea on the cutting roof floor. And it might’ve been the best decision they made because Arkham City is arguably the most complete game in gaming history.

Imagine. The year is 1994 and you are a huge superhero fan. You sit down to watch your favorite cartoon show, a thrilling battle of good versus evil. In this week’s episode, Charles uses his mental might to clash with a blue enemy who promises to be his friend.
The cheesy voice-acting and choppy animation doesn’t disrupt the experience. In fact, it makes it better, intensifying the clash between Charles and the blue guy until you can’t take it anymore and you unleash your hero’s battle cry:

Because, of course, you’re not watching X-Men: The Animated Series, nor even Batman: The Animated Series, both respected superhero cartoons that get ample praise today. Netflix has included another animated series in its catalog and this time, and this time it’s the rebirth of an extremely nostalgic franchise, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Lara Croft has been an insanely popular character and she deserves all kinds of adaptations.
However, the recent animated series teased by Netflix has received some criticism due to its Japanese-inspired art style. While it looks good and has good action scenes, you can’t help but shake off the feeling that it is trying to imitate anime.
Is Netflix’s Tomb Raider an Anime?

No, Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is not an anime series. It is created by Powerhouse Animation Studios which is based in Austin, Texas. Thus, the upcoming project is an animated series and not an anime.

There’s no doubt that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League once was an interesting project by Rocksteady. But, since its launch back in February, the game has quickly become infamous as one of the first big disappointments of the year. Right from the controversial decision to even make the game a single-player live service title to horrendous character choices, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has left a fork for Rocksteady as a developer.
Fans have been desperate for a game like Batman: Arkham Knight for years. Many believed that if Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice followed the same formula as the Batman title, it would’ve gone down in gaming history as one of the best. However, there’s still a chance for Rocksteady to make a comeback by finally using the Ninja Turtles IP combined with its experience with Arkham Knight.

Nothing comes easy for “The Fall Guy” (Universal). Despite a home release 18 days after opening (typical for Universal) and outgrossing “Civil War” by $4 million despite playing for four weeks less, Alex Garland’s film shares top honors with the stuntman actioner this week on the VOD charts.
Both films, available for rental for 48 hours at $19.99, placed #1 on one chart apiece. “Civil War” leads at iTunes (ranking by transactions), while “Fall Guy” does at Fandango (calculated by revenue). One factor differentiating the two is that “Civil War” was released on Friday, while “Fall” debuted the previous Tuesday. That gave the latter an edge on Fandango, which has a weekly Monday-Sunday chart. It was #1 on iTunes on Wednesday through Friday, with “Civil War” #1 since.

Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are two franchises that had a massive impact on my childhood – and now Dark Horse Comics has revealed that they will be bringing characters from those franchises together in a four-part comic book mini-series called Turtles of Grayskull! Super Hero Hype reports that the first issue of Turtles of Grayskull will be reaching store shelves on September 25th – and they also got their hands on three different covers for that issue, which you can check out at the bottom of this article!
Longtime He-Man writer Tim Seeley has written Turtles of Grayskull, with Freddie E. Williams II (who previously drew the Injustice/Masters of the Universe and Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossovers) providing the artwork. Space Ghost colorist Andrew Dalhouse is also on board, with the lettering coming from AndWorld Design.

The loudest voice in Hollywood last week belonged to Haim Saban. “Bad . . . Bad . . . bad decision, on all levels,” he roared, in an email to President Joseph Biden, sent via White House aides, denouncing the Administration’s announced plan to withhold bombs and artillery shells from Israel if it proceeds against Hamas in the population centers of Rafah.
About the policy itself, opinions vary (to put it mildly). Congressional representative Ilhan Omar happily declared that pro-Palestinian protests had worked. Former Biden spokesperson Jen Psaki said Biden should have used his “leverage” sooner. But by week’s end, Presidential surrogates, feeling heat from critics, were looking for semantic wiggle room; Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz said Biden was solid behind Israel, but had been guilty of ‘imprecision.’
In any case, it is impossible not to be impressed by the clear, emphatic and melodramatic declaration from Saban, whose brief missive—addressing “You Mr. President...

Getting ahold of Paramount-owned franchises could be a dream for Sony, but big regulatory issues stand in its way.
Sony has spent the last decade doing things a little differently than Hollywood-based entertainment companies. That makes plenty of sense, considering that so much of Sony’s revenue comes from other sources than its TV and movie productions; video game sales and hardware manufacturing are the company’s true bread and butter. But the company could be about to undergo a big shift, as it has joined private equity company Apollo Global Management to make a $26 billion offer to acquire Paramount Global. There are plenty of obstacles to clear before a deal can be made, but if the transaction does eventually go through, Sony will be able to evolve to a new level of content arms dealing that has made the company so successful in recent years.

In the latest of “thing from your childhood turned dark, gritty, and violent” news, a new live-action, R-rated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie is in development, as The Hollywood Reporter details.
Adapting the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin storyline, the film is set to be quite a pivot from last year’s successful animated feature Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Tyler Burton Smith — co-writer of the upcoming Boy Kills World and 2019’s Child’s Play — is set to helm the script, while Paramount Pictures will oversee.
Despite its cartoony connotation, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has surprising precedent for more adult-oriented stories. The original 1984 series launched as a black and white independent comic and was both inspired by and poking fun at the work of Frank Miller, Chris Claremont, and ’80s Marvel. Subsequent toy deals, televised cartoons, and the 1990s films helped to foster a more child-friendly,...

After the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, inspiring a sequel and animated series, Paramount Pictures continues to go all in on Turtle Power. THR reports that the studio is now developing a new R-rated, live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
The live-action movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, an adaptation of the bestselling Idw comic miniseries of the same name. It’ll mark the first R-rated feature film for the franchise.
The Last Ronin is “Set in a totalitarian future New York City, the comic mini-series told of how the Turtles and master Splinter are killed off one by one by the grandson of the villainous Shredder and synthetic ninjas. After the success of last year’s animated hit film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Paramount Pictures is keeping turtle power going by putting a new feature project into development.
This one, however, will go beyond the realm of the all-ages material the long-standing property is known for and instead go into gritty, R-rated, territory.
Paramount is developing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, adapting a popular storyline seen in the recent Idw comics, as a live-action feature with the intent of making it for an R-rating.
Tyler Burton Smith, who co-wrote the upcoming R-rated action movie Boy Kills World and who wrote the 2019 iteration of Chucky horror franchise Child’s Play, is penning the script.
Walter Hamada is producing through his 18hz production company as part of his multi-year deal with the studio. Hamada is the former head of DC Films who rose through the ranks at New Line,...

Seth Rogen has carved out a very unique niche for himself. As a producer, Rogen has been at the helm of some very successful adaptations of superhero comics like Invincible, The Boys, Tmnt, and Gen V. However, the actor-producer has been public about his reluctance towards working with superhero giants like Marvel and DC, but it looks like that might change with the latest project that he has put in development.

It has been reported that Seth Rogen is developing yet another Spider-Man universe, this time focused on Venom, in the form of an R-rated animated film, which will be distinct from Tom Holland’s MCU Spider-Man, Tom Hardy’s Sony Venom series of films and Sony’s animated Spider-Verse films. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin is an upcoming game that is based on a comic book miniseries with the same name. Finally stepping into a more mature story than what fans have grown accustomed to when hearing the words Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this adaptation will perhaps be the bloodiest and most brutal yet, and if it does well, maybe a start of a brand new gaming universe for the turtles in a half shell.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise has undergone many changes over the years – from comics to movies, shows, and games. The core of the franchise remains the same – four mutant turtles battling a ninja cult. Black Forest Games will soon share their take on the beloved brothers, with a focus on The Last Ronin.

Robert Kirkman’s Invincible is gearing up to launch the second part of its second season, and fans could not be more excited about the show’s return. What has had fans speculating about the story is that Invincible had a cross-company crossover with Spider-Man during his multiversal adventures, which fans are expecting to see in the show, even if it’s a long shot.
Invincible
However, if Spider-Man is to show up in Invincible, Sony and Marvel have the choice to make one of the most iconic backdoor pilots in recent history. While the first episode of Invincible Season 2 Part 2 airs on March 15th, Marvel Animation will be busy releasing its continuation of X-Men: The Animated Series, titled X-Men ’97. This has caused a lot of speculation as to which other animated series could return from Marvel Animation, and one story neatly fits into the niche that this whirlwind of situations has created.

Alan Ritchson is a force of nature in Prime Video's "Reacher," where he delivers a compelling, book-accurate performance of the titular drifter with a penchant for solving crimes. Ritchson balances Reacher's brute strength with the perfect amount of vulnerability, painting him as a man fiercely dedicated to the cause, willing to evolve as a person when the situation demands so. While Reacher is perhaps one of his best roles so far, Ritchson's career is marked with performances that need to be highlighted, given how often they tend to be overlooked.
Before Ritchson started playing buff dudes who could beat up anyone in the room, he embodied a diverse range of characters on both the big and small screens. The folks at Platinum Dunes, the production company headed up by Michael Bay and Bradley Fuller, clearly love working with director Jonathan Liebesman. After working with Liebesman on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning, they had him attached to direct their reboot of Friday the 13th for a while – and even though Liebesman wasn’t at the helm of that one by the time it went into production, they did work with him again, on their 2014 version of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Now, a decade later, Platinum Dunes and Jonathan Liebesman are re-teaming for a werewolf movie called Wolf Night.
Deadline wasn’t able to dig up much information on Wolf Night, but they did learn that the project is being described as “District 9 by way of The Purge“. Will Honley, whose writing credits include Escape Room: Tournament of Champions, wrote the screenplay with April Maguire.

Jonathan Liebesman, who directed remake prequel The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning back in 2006, is attached to direct a werewolf movie for Platinum Dunes titled Wolf Night, and Deadline brings us the first word on the project this afternoon.
We don’t yet have a plot synopsis for Wolf Night but the script from writers Will Honley and April Maguire is said to be “District 9 by way of The Purge –but with werewolves.”
Multiple studios are said to be bidding on the Wolf Night package as we speak.
Michael Bay and Brad Fuller will produce for Platinum Dunes.
Jonathan Liebesman’s directorial credits also include Darkness Falls (2003), Rings (2005), The Killing Room (2009), Wrath of the Titans (2012), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014).

Cowabunga, dudes. Paramount Pictures has announced that the still-untitled sequel to last year's "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem" has locked in a release date. Mark your calendars for October 9, 2026, and plan accordingly. The date was confirmed by the studio in addition to several other moves on Paramount's release schedule over the next couple of years.
This might be seen as a bit of a good news/bad news situation. The good news is that Paramount is moving full-steam ahead on the sequel, which had previously been confirmed. The bad news is that 2026 is a lot longer than many fans likely want to wait. That said, it's good that director Jeff Rowe and the rest of the creative team aren't being rushed here. "Mutant Mayhem" was widely regarded as one of the best "Tmnt" movies ever -- if not the best (read /Film's 9 out of 10 review right here). Preserving...

Reacher‘s Alan Ritchson has soared to fame since getting cast in the Prime Video series based on the Lee Child crime novels. The actor has been gaining even more notoriety as he boasts an even bigger physique this season and has displayed a comic book-accurate superhero physique that prompted fans to consider him to get cast as a new Batman. While Batman could still be a possibility, one superhero role he had unfortunately missed out on was Thor, which now is synonymous with Chris Hemsworth. According to Variety, Ritchson had auditioned for the 2011 film Thor as the Marvel Cinematic Universe started moving their shared universe train.
Ritchson admits he was banking on his looks and thought his appearance was enough to land him the lead role in the Kenneth Branagh-directed MCU movie. The Reacher star explained, “I didn’t take it seriously. I was like, ‘They’ll throw...

Megan Fox Once Expressed Her Desire to Be Angelina Jolie’s Girlfriend ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
When Megan Fox came to Hollywood, people compared her to Angelina Jolie, who was already an established actress. This sometimes irritated Fox, and then there was a time when she was one of Jolie’s biggest fangirls. Megan didn’t have to be the next Angelina; she created a place for herself in the industry and has been regarded as a s*x symbol for years.
Fox gained recognition from movies like Jennifer’s Body, the Transformers series, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. She has also been in the news for her relationships and controversial comments to the media. Her dig at director Michael Bay is infamous to this day. The crew members of the Transformers movie wrote an open letter once criticizing the actress as they said harsh things about her. They even reportedly called her dumb.

The humble beginnings of Matt Stone and Trey Parker's "South Park" are nothing short of inspiring, with two friends crafting a stop-motion short film that would evolve into one of the most popular and longest-running shows in television history. "The Spirit of Christmas" was first released in 1992 (colloquially referred to as "Jesus vs. Frosty") and again in 1994 as a Christmas card (colloquially known as "Jesus vs. Santa" to differentiate) Fox executive Brian Graden had commissioned to send to his friends. Parker and Stone then developed the characters and the mountain town setting into what would become "South Park," and the rest is history.
This timeline certainly makes "South Park" sound like one of those dreamy Hollywood Cinderella stories in which two unknown comedy animators were plucked from obscurity to become billionaires and one award shy of earning Egot status. However, this narrative ignores the countless other projects -- both...

Audiences love a Stephen King movie. The work of the best-selling horror novelist has inspired a large number of films, and even the not-so-good ones draw a crowd. King isn't just an author, he's a brand, and when you slap his name on a movie poster, people tend to notice. Most of King's major works have already been adapted to the big and small screen, but he has plenty of short stories left for filmmakers to draw on. One of King's many short stories is "The Lawnmower Man," first published in a 1975 issue of "Cavalier" before being added to his short story collection "Night Shift," released in 1978. In the 1990s, Hollywood came calling and brought "The Lawnmower Man" to the big screen. Sort of. Kind of. Maybe. Well, not really.
Directed by Brett Leonard, with a script penned by Leonard and Gimel Everett, "The Lawnmower Man" is a curious piece...
