In the early scene where the gang dispatches Bertram via catapult, they all speak the line "Bye Bye Birdie". Series star Dick Gautier created the role of Conrad Birdie in the original Broadway production of "Bye Bye Birdie" in 1960. The score for that show was written by Charles Strouse and Lee Adams who wrote the theme song for this series.
