- Deke Slater: You know, they say it isn't bragging if you can back it up.
- Joshua McCord: It's still bragging.
- Deke Slater: Well, this braggart thinks he can beat you to the bell.
- Joshua McCord: Oh, really?
- General Vinh Tran: [while torturing Deke Slater] You will tell me what I want to know. Why should you suffer first?
- Deke Slater: I don't know. It's just my nature, I guess.
- First Lady Matthews: [to Joshua] I don't know who you are, but you certainly know how to make an entrance!
- Stewart: [Professor McCord, as part of a college lecture on Bushido, has just demonstrated the use of a samurai sword on an apple] ... Dude, that is so cool!
- Joshua McCord: I'm glad you think so. By the way, Stewart, that's *Professor* Dude to you.
- First Lady Matthews: [vacationing in Rio De Janiero] ... So how's my mother?
- President Mathews: [at the White House] She still wants to redecorate the Lincoln Room; otherwise, she's fine. How come she never liked me, anyway?
- First Lady Matthews: Well, she always thought I should have married a doctor.
- Lieutenant: [Slater has pulled a gun on a chopper pilot to prevent him from taking off and leaving two wounded men behind] ... I gave you an order, mister! I'll see you court-martialed!
- Deke Slater: Well, then let me just give you something to court-martial me for.
- [coldcocks the Lieutenant]
- Deke Slater: Well... when do we get started?
- Que: Glad you're so enthusiastic. Lets see how long it lasts.
- Deke Slater: [looks at Que as she walks away, then to Joshua] She always this sarcastic?
- Joshua McCord: This is one of her better days.
- Deke Slater: [after Que beats him at chess] ... I hate this stupid game.
- Que: That's only because you're so bad at it.
- Joshua McCord: I may have picked the wrong person, George.
- George Williams: What makes you think that?
- Joshua McCord: I don't know, he is just so cocky and think he knows everything.
- George Williams: ...And you don't think you were that way when you first started.
- Joshua McCord: Maybe a little.
- George Williams: Maybe a lot, but you learned. There is two things to keep in mind. When I told you to find a replacement, I didn't mean find just one, you had to create one. You don't look for the negative side in a man, you look for his positive side, and second, just because he doesn't do things the way you would have them done, that doesn't necessarily mean he's wrong.
- Joshua McCord: [nods his head in agreement]
- Joshua McCord: [after Joshua talks to George] You screwed up.
- Deke Slater: [Deke interupts] Joshua I know, but that...
- Joshua McCord: Let me finish... you screwed up, but you screwed up for the right reasons. You're going to make mistakes, but it's how you deal with those mistakes, that's going to make the difference.
- Deke Slater: So, does this mean I'm not fired?
- Joshua McCord: You're not that lucky.
