When Star Trek: Voyager was nearing the end, the producers introduced a romance between Robert Beltran's Chakotay and Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine. The fans didn't see that one coming as there'd not previously been any type of chemistry between the two characters, and the relationship just didn't make sense. Nevertheless, Voyager ended with the pair still a couple as far as we knew.
Before the beginning of the second season of Star Trek: Picard, Beltran was contacted about a part in the first two episodes of the season, which were "Penance" and "Assmiliation." [Via Slashfilm] In those two episodes, Admiral Picard and his crew are sent to an alternate timeline by Q [John de Lancie] where Earth is an evil empire ruled over by a fascist dictator and her husband. Nicolas Cage and Sydney Sweeney added new layers to the horror genre this year with their amazing films Longlegs and Immaculate. In addition to those two, the year has been great for the genre as it offered various inventive narratives that spooked audiences and most of them also did good business at the box office.

Late Night With the Devil, Cuckoo, Abigail, and recently Alien: Romulus, were other films that also made a mark this year with their twisted and narratively creative approach to horror. After gracing fans with the 1996 PC port of Resident Evil back in June, fans have been waiting for the port of 1998’s Resident Evil 2 to show up on Gog. That day will be coming soon enough, as Gog has announced that Resident Evil 2 will arrive on the site on August 27.
Gog says that this version of the game “fully reproduces the original elements of this game released in 1998”.
Much like what the Gog team did with Resident Evil, they’ve gone back and tweaked some things for the sequel to make it playable for modern PC gamers that might not have the patience for setting things up. That includes full Windows 10 and 11 support, 6 localizations of the game, new rendering options, improved audio volume and panning, reworked key binding setting and audio settings and more.

Stuart Baird's 2002 film "Star Trek: Nemesis" came at a very strange time in the franchise's history. "Star Trek" had spent the 1990s striding triumphantly across the landscape, producing multiple hit shows, one right after the other. There was a time when "Star Trek: The Next Generation" overlapped with "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," and then when "Deep Space Nine" and "Star Trek: Voyager" ran concurrently. "Voyager" even helped Paramount launch its own TV network, the Upn, in 1995.
By 2001, though, the bloom was off the rose a bit. The series began to tire out. "Voyager" came to an end, and audiences were looking forward to a prequel series called "Enterprise." Before the show could debut, however, the world was shaken by the events of September 11, 2001. Pop rhetoric immediately turned to mourning, and then just as quickly to combat-based retribution. The gentle diplomacy of "Star Trek" instantly became dated. Then, when...

The Warhammer 40K universe is filled with weapons that are as brutal as they are iconic. Space Marine 2 is set to have an amazing arsenal to satisfy your desire for carnage, but there are a few legendary weapons we’re hoping the devs consider adding post-launch.
Whether you’re a veteran or completely new to the Grimdark franchise, these 12 weapons would add a whole new layer of mayhem to the game.

Patrick Stewart gained worldwide fame when he starred as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: The Next Generation. The X-Men star who was just relatively known for his stage work back then became a global icon with the spinoff show which lasted seven seasons and four films. He returned to the role in Star Trek: Picard.
The sequel series had a three-season run, which culminated in a nostalgia-filled final season that brought together the original Tng cast in a much-deserved reunion. While the finale was received well by fans, Stewart was reportedly initially apprehensive about the show being more nostalgia-driven than story-driven.

Brent Spiner is best known for playing the android Data in the show Star Trek: The Next Generation. Starring alongside actors like Patrick Stewart and William Riker, Spinner’s character was one of the most beloved roles in the franchise and he even returned for Star Trek: Picard.
While the Tng cast got a fitting end with Picard, the previous finale, the original film Star Trek: Nemesis was a box-office bomb and was not received well by critics. However, Spiner’s idea for a sequel would have probably saved the Tom Hardy starrer from being a fizzled-out finale and would have brought in multiple Star Trek captains.

The new generation series Star Trek: Picard brought back many fan-favorite characters from The Next Generation, including Sir Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner’s Data. While Spiner had reportedly refused to return to the series, he was convinced by one key aspect of the new show. He mentioned that the chance to not spend hours in his signature yellow/gold makeup and removing it was an appealing factor for him to return.

Numerous Trekkies were heavily disappointed when Brent Spiner’s Data faced his end in Star Trek: Nemesis. Fans were united on the point that a character like him deserved a more respectable death. There is little doubt that Star Trek: Insurrection remains one of the most poorly-arted movies across the entire Star Trek franchise. The movie currently has a 6.4 IMDb rating and a 55% Tomatometer score, and fans consistently view it amongst the most irrelevant projects that have featured in the franchise.

Boasting little narrative depth or progress, Insurrection was more akin to a longer television episode, and may as well have resulted in a catastrophic loss for the franchise in itself. Gene Roddenberry’s Star Trek franchise has expanded into a successful universe of its own, featuring several movies and TV series of its own. Unless one counts Majel Barrett's voice appearances as the computer on the U.S.S. Enterprise-d, Michael Dorn has appeared in more "Star Trek" episodes and movies than any other actor. He appeared in 174 episodes of "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (that's all but two of them), 98 episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," five of the "Star Trek" movies, and nine episodes of "Star Trek: Picard." Clearly, there's something about the character that "Star Trek" writers like, otherwise they wouldn't keep writing stories for him.

However, with the birth of Star Trek: Picard on Paramount+, Spiner returned to reprise his role along with his old pals Patrick Stewart and LeVar Burton. The video game industry often sees some game release that set the trend for whole genres ant archetypes of games. Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham games are the perfect example. Praised for their fresh takes on hand-to-hand combat at the time, the trilogy is still highly regarded by gamers even today.
This success had a direct impact on developers of other games and franchises. Developers such as Monolith took inspiration from this in the development of their Middle Earth games. Including Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War.

When it was first announced that a Wonder Woman game was in the works, the gaming community was divided. The Arkham series is one of the very few that can do justice to a superhero title, with others such as Avengers, Midnight Suns, and Suicide Squad completely missing the mark.
The trepidation one may have felt for Wonder Woman was not unfounded, as news has revealed there may be trouble in Themyscira. If sources are to be believed, those who were looking forward to the game are in for a long wait.

Star Trek is one of the most significant and oldest media franchises out there. It has amassed a massive fan base over the years. However, the franchise faced a major setback in 2002 when Star Trek: Nemesis turned out to be a gigantic critical and commercial flop.

One of the very few franchises that have been able to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Star Wars since the dawn of the modern science fiction era in cinema is Star Trek and it has been a battle worthy of being dubbed as the Space Race of Hollywood. However, where Star Wars has remained at the top of its game since the advent of A New Hope, the same cannot be said for its contemporary show, The Next Generation.

Review: I took a bit of heat for my positive review of Rebel Moon Part One a few months ago, but I make no apologies for the fact that I found it an immersive, entertaining epic. I liked it a lot more than the last few Star Wars movies (particularly The Rise of Skywalker). So, I was eager to see the story reach its conclusion with Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver. While an entertaining, action-packed end to the saga, it’s also a clear-cut case of why Snyder’s longer director’s cuts should have been the only ones hitting Netflix. Even more than in the first film, this feels awkwardly fast-paced and anti-climactic at times due to the story having no room to breathe.

A new movie just came out from Zack Snyder, the divisive but provocative director who has inspired legions of passionate and loyal fans online, but it hardly feels like anyone outside of the internet knows or even cares much. Perhaps that's the peril of falling into the streaming trap, where name-brand talents receive sky-high budgets for productions that no traditional studio is willing to support ... only to be promptly forgotten once its brief time in Netflix's weekly Top 10 reports comes and goes. Full disclosure: It's downright strange to have been able to see "Rebel Moon: Part Two - The Scargiver" in a theater and base this review on that experience, particularly when the vast majority of those reading this will never have the same opportunity. Yet it's stranger still that the film we've received, from a visionary auteur whose battles with corporate overlords during his tenure in the DC...

Black Panther | EA’s upcoming game will be a ‘sandbox’ that takes in cities and natural environments
An upcoming Black Panther game, in the works at EA’s Cliffhanger Games, will be a ‘sandbox’ according to a job listing.
This isn’t necessarily a massive surprise, given that few would expect a Black Panther game to be a farming sim, but EA’s upcoming videogame will be some sort of ‘sandbox’ according to a job listing.
Listed on EA’s own website, the detail is right up there in the job title: Principle Sandbox Designer. The role will require the design and prototyping of “gameplay mechanics that contribute to a rich sandbox environment.”
The listing, first reported by Vgc, also reveals that the game will take place in both cities and more natural environments that will potentially be filled with simulated animals. The successful candidate, EA writes, will “create sophisticated AI behaviours that enhance the open-world experience, from urban crowds to wildlife ecosystems.”

Since its debut 1966, Star Trek has been about boldly going forward. And no Star Trek series has gone further forward than Discovery. After a rocky first few seasons set about a decade before The Original Series, Discovery found its place by jumping to the 32nd century, farther into the future than any other entry in the franchise.
As Discovery prepares to end its mission with its fifth and final season, fans might be wondering what’s next for the 32nd century and the TV franchise as a whole. BioShock creator Ken Levine has shown off some new gameplay details for his upcoming Judas to select outlets, and the old BioShock DNA is unmistakeable.
There’s an awful lot of chat about “narrative Lego” in the various news posts swirling around about Judas, the next game from BioShock designer Ken Levine. It’s a phrase Levine first brought up about a decade ago when he first started talking publicly about his first project since 2013’s BioShock Infinite, and is shorthand for the way Judas uses discrete blocks of plot to construct a unique story for each player.
Over the past few weeks or so, Levine’s new studio, Ghost Story Games, has invited a couple of journalists from big, posh outlets to sample Judas first-hand. Both IGN's Ryan McCaffrey and The Game Awards’ Geoff Keighley have made videos in which they interview Ken Levine and play through his ambitious-sounding action-adventure.

As /Film's resident wrestling obsessive, I've written quite a bit about how sports entertainment is a formative piece of how I process the media I consume, as well as waxing poetic about my appreciation for the Adonis and Venus mortals that walk amongst us on shows like "American Gladiator." I'm of the mindset that if a person must self-proclaim they are an expert, chances are, they are not. So while I will not claim to be an expert, I will say that my knowledge of cinema featuring pumped-up women and brawny babes is, uh, stronger than most.
Sure, there are plenty of films that feature swole ladies for a one-off visual gag or a background character, but there aren't many films that allow women who are jacked to the gills to take center stage. Sometimes, the films are specifically about these towering muscle mommies, and sometimes they're just action films...

As stated in our previous video, there have been a number of different ones, but nothing stood out more than Resident Evil. In 2002, we were graced with the first in this series. It may not have been the critic’s favorite, but it did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel. The name of that sequel is Resident Evil: Apocalypse (watch it Here). With a title that big, you would think the filmmakers went for bigger, better and more destructive…right? For the most part, yes and they even packed in some surprises for fans of the series. So today on Horror Revisited we ask that you suit up and strap in for Alice...

This Star Trek: Picard article contains spoilers.
Do you remember how great it felt when Jean-Luc Picard stepped onto the bridge of the restored USS Enterprise-d, with all the members of his senior staff around him and ready for one last adventure? Remember how much better that was than watching Icheb from Voyager get mutilated or watching Picard ride dune buggies in Star Trek: Nemesis? Patrick Stewart does not.
In a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stewart talked about an upcoming Star Trek movie centered on at least part of the Star Trek: The Next Generation cast. “I heard only last night about a script that is being written, but written specifically with the actor, Patrick, to play in it,” Stewart told host Josh Horowitz. “And I’ve been told to expect to receive it within a week or so.”
That sounds exciting, right? After all, while...

Plot: In a dark corner of the universe controlled by a Fascist regime called The Motherworld, a former soldier named Kora (Sofia Boutella) tries to escape her past by living as a simple farmer on a peaceful moon called The Veldt. When that moon is invaded by The Motherworld and her friends are threatened, Kora sets off to recruit an army of soldiers to battle with the Motherworld and end their tyranny.
Review: Take Star Wars, a liberal amount of Seven Samurai, The Magnificent Seven, and Battle Beyond the Stars, and mix it in with a heavy helping of Heavy Metal (both the magazine and the film), and you end up with Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon. While a bit overstuffed (Snyder maybe made it a little too lean at just over two hours), it’s nonetheless a deliriously entertaining sci-fi epic that one could easily call the Best Star Wars Movie Never Made.

Rebel Moon isn’t really the Zack Snyder Star Wars everyone was always characterizing it as… but what if it was?
“When Rebel Moon releases in theaters… it’ll mark the end of a 10-year journey. A journey that began with a 2013 rumor that director Zack Snyder was working on some kind of Star Wars movie. That rumor, it turns out, was not true. At the time, Snyder had the idea of taking one of his stories and putting it into the world of Star Wars, but it never got much further than that. You can’t help but wonder though, in the words of another Disney-owned franchise, ‘What if?’”

The Wonder Woman game being developed by Monolith Productions might be a live-service title, in line with Warner Bros.’ stated goals.
A job advert for Monolith Productions seems to indicate that the studio’s upcoming Wonder Woman game might be a live-service title.
The advert, which was spotted by Wccftech, is for a ‘Lead Software Engineer, Gameplay’. “As a Gameplay Lead, you will lead the team responsible for core gameplay systems inherent to Monolith’s proprietary engine, including combat, movement, the Nemesis system, and more!” reads the job description.
(Nb. Monolith pioneered the Nemesis system in its 2014 game Middle-earth: Shadow Of Mordor, which sees some enemies return to dog the player again and again. Warner Bros. then patented the Nemesis system in 2015, as Ryan Lambie discusses in this exploration of the ups and downs of patented game mechanics. But I digress.)
The really interesting part of the job description, however,...
