It was recently announced that Marvel Studios would make their big return to Hall H at the famed San Diego Comic-Con. Now, Sony Pictures Television (Spt) will make its San Diego Comic-Con debut featuring panels, activations, giveaways, signings and exclusive content, as well as its first-ever booth on the convention floor (Booth #4745) featuring fan-favorite series The Boys, Cobra Kai, Twisted Metal and For All Mankind. Fox is staying in the survival business.

The network, which airs Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test, has ordered another survival competition series – Extracted.

Giving few details about the show, the network said “for the first time ever, the contestants are not in charge of their destiny”.

It comes from Sony Pictures Television’s B17 Entertainment, Sylvester Stallone’s Balboa Productions and Fox Entertainment.

B17 was founded by Brien Meagher and Rhett Bachner and is behind series such as Roku’s Thanks A Million and Netflix’s History of Swear Words.

Stallone’s Balboa, which has a first-look deal with Amazon Studios, is known for its scripted TV and movies including Paramount+’s Tulsa King and features including Scavenger Hunt and Lost On a Mountain In Maine. It is also behind Stallone’s reality series The Family Stallone.

Maria Bakalova, the Oscar-nominated star of “Borat Subsequent Movie Film,” is set to star in the action-comedy “My Masterpiece” for Sylvester Stallone and Braden Aftergood’s Balboa Productions. Cassandra Brooksbank will make her feature directorial debut from a script by Jason Hellerman. The Veterans and CAA Media Finance will introduce the film to buyers at Cannes this week.

According to the official description, “My Masterpiece” follows a hitwoman hellbent on dismantling an unfair system within her industry, but she gets stuck on the second floor of an office building after she takes vengeance on a corporate overlord. That means she has to fight her way through fellow murderers and her past to ensure justice prevails. If all goes well, this might just be her masterpiece.

Production is expected to begin in fall 2023 in Canada. The Veterans are handling international sales. CAA Media Finance represents domestic distribution rights.

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has acquired Brian Otting’s script Never Too Old to Die as a starring vehicle for Sylvester Stallone, Deadline has learned.

The action comedy to be produced by Stallone and Braden Aftergood for Balboa Productions watches as a mysterious murder within a retirement home for spies sparks a Cold War hero’s personal mission to find the assassin living among them.

This will be the first project falling under Stallone and Balboa’s multi-year, first-look deal with Amazon Studios, which we were first to report on last week — an agreement that will have Stallone write, direct, produce and star in both scripted and unscripted projects for the studio, for film and TV. A director has not yet been attached.

Sylvester Stallone is getting in the ring with Amazon Studios. According to Deadline, Stallone and his Balboa Productions studio have signed a first-look deal with Amazon Studios. Through the multi-year partnership, Stallone will write, direct, produce, and star in film and television projects – scripted and unscripted – developed by Balboa Studios. The content will stream on Prime Video, with movies likely heading to the silver screen before arriving on the streaming network.

Stallone is working on creating content through the deal with the genre film Scavenger Hunt, written and directed by Elle Callahan (Witch Hunt). In addition to Scavenger Hunt, the move to Amazon Studios means Stallone can return to the Rocky franchise. Under the multi-year pact, Stallone will write, direct, produce, and star in film and television projects — both scripted and unscripted — developed through Balboa Productions, which he founded with Braden Aftergood. They will stream on Prime Video, with movies likely to get a theatrical release first. Cooley High director Michael Schultz will be honored October 24 by the Black Hollywood Education and Resource Center as part of its 26th annual African American Film Marketplace and the S.E. Manly Short Film Showcase, which runs from October 23-November 29.

It’s that time of year again — the chestnuts are roasting, the marshmallows are toasting, and the Hallmark holiday movies are airing multiple times a week from now until the end of the year.

Of the 40 new original movies Hallmark is rolling out this holiday season, 24 are part of its 10th annual “Countdown to Christmas” event. The other 16 will air on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Some of the original movies have aired since the end of October, which can be streamed on Hallmark Movies Now. The rest of this year’s holiday programming, like “Christmas at Dollywood,” starring Dolly Parton and “Merry & Bright,” starring Jodie Sweetin, will continue to roll out on both channels until Dec. 28.

They show great chemistry in La Cava’s darkly comic fable. The rich WASPs of New York engage in a “Scavenger Hunt”, getting wasted and hunting down things no one else wants. This includes Godfrey (Powell), a homeless man living on a trash heap. He spurns the condescending Cornelia Bullock (Gail Patrick), but when her sister Irene (Lombard) takes an interest, he lets her take him back to the party,...

There aren’t a ton of absolutes in life, but among a laundry list of things I enjoy whilst spinning around the sun, here’s three: Christopher George, private dicks, and mad scientists. And so imagine my delight when I stumbled across Escape (1971), a failed TV pilot about an ex escape artist turned P.I. who investigates, in his words, “the unexplainable.” And while the pilot doesn’t dip its toes too much into the pool of the unusual, it sure feels like that’s the way they were planning to go.

Last week Wamg took to Hollywood Blvd. to scout out some of the most haunted locations for clues in celebration of the release of Ouija on Blu-Ray and DVD (February 3rd). Watson Adventures devised a fun-filled list of places and clues for press members, and sent us out in four different groups to unravel the mysteries of one of the most haunted areas in California.

Character actor Henry Polic II has died at the age of 68, after a long bout with cancer. Polic made his TV debut in 1975, playing the Sheriff of Nottingham in Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood sitcom, When Things Were Rotten.
