I saw Replica tonight (Dec. 3, 2015) at the Dorie Theatre in LA. Loud, exciting, sexy, dramatic, surprising! I admire the way it is crafted. Clearly Paul Tully knows the world he writes about: drug dealers, thugs, lowlifes, rundown motels etc.--it's all here. I loved seeing this in an intimate setting. The four main characters and their life stories and motivations were there for the audience to see. A lot of tension throughout most of it. Some of the longer monologues were too long. A gay couple that walks into the room doesn't add much--a bit one-dimensional. If you're offended by a lot of sex and foul language don't go. If you like theater with electricity and soul, do go. Don't bring anyone who's a prude. I thought parts of it were a bit corny toward the end, but on the whole a jolly good show.
