Exclusive: British author Lucy Clarke, who has had two novels adapted for TV by Paramount+, has seen rights to her latest thriller The Hike snapped up by Urban Myth Films.

"It's not them I'm worried about." Paramount+ in the UK has unveiled an official trailer for a horror thriller film titled No Escape, from director Hans Herbots and writer Kris Mrksa. Reinventing themselves on the other side of the world, 19-year-old Brits Kitty and Lana find refuge on a yacht in the Philippines called "The Blue" - full of beautiful people, parties and endless beaches. But in joining her crew, they fall into far greater dangers than the ones they were trying to escape. Sounds like a modern version on The Beach, involving a yacht and pirates this time. Adapted from a book by Lucy Clarke. "It's been the most incredible experience to see my novel re-imagined for screen. I’ve loved every moment of the journey from reading early scripts to visiting the set in Thailand. The series is breathtaking: transportive, gripping, and thrilling from beginning to end. I...

Strike: Troubled Blood really is an extraordinarily fine crime drama, where a range of exceptional talents come together to create something that is actually greater than the sum of its very formidable parts. That is something rare and to be cherished. And indeed watched, and I can unreservedly commend this four-parter as a highlight of your festive viewing. It starts brilliantly, but gets better, and there are some surprising and compelling star performances to come.
It’s the latest adaptation, by Tom Edge, of the Strike detective works of Jk Rowling, and probably the best. Tom Burke is once again in the title role of Cormoran Strike, the gruff but clever private investigator. Strike is an ex-soldier with a touch of Ptsd, a bit of a drink problem, and a troubled childhood. And his affection and respect for his resourceful business partner, Robin Ellacott (Holliday Grainger) always threatens, or promises,...

Something of an antidote for those of you wanted something very festive this year, Tin Star kicks off with Jack, Angela, and Anna returning home to Liverpool to seek vengeance against those who have sought to bring about their demise when they were in Canada.
We spoke to stars Tim Roth, Abigail Lawrie, and Genevieve O’Reilly about returning home for the culmination of the show, what they will miss most about their characters and, if there was an appetite, whether they would perhaps be up for one more go-around sometime in the future.
You can watch the full interview below:

Jonah Hill is stepping behind the camera again with another topic close to his heart. After his 2018 directorial debut Mid90s, which was an autobiographical look at a young boy’s coming of age amongst a group of skaters, Hill will be directing a documentary for Netflix about therapy, using his own therapist as the focus. Dr. Phil Stutz will be at the center of Hill’s documentary, which he says on Instagram will “frame therapy and Phil’s tools for dealing with life in a way that isn’t corny or cheesy.” In an exciting addition, it is reported that the film will also feature an interactive component that will be able to assist people who are unable to obtain therapy to get the tools and information they need Joaquin Phoenix, who co-starred with Hill in the Gus Van Sant film Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot, will...

We exist in a time when pointless, devastating violence is an all-too common occurrence, whether it’s knife crime amongst teenagers, terrorism or people simply letting their opposing views turn into physical conflicts. We’re as divided as ever, and the lines we draw between ourselves and the people we encounter everyday are ever-more arbitrary despite the heavy cost.

Rowling's international bestseller "The Casual Vacancy." The first adult novel from the "Harry Potter" author centers on the town of Pagford, a seemingly perfect English village that is torn apart following the death of its beloved Parish Councillor. Michael Gambon heads a talented ensemble that also includes Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear, Monica Dolan, Julia McKenzie and Abigail Lawrie. Directed by Johnny Campbell and adapted by Sarah Phelps, the three-part miniseries looks to keep the intriguing mysteries and spiky humor of the original text in tact based on the trailer above. Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling’s The Casual Vacancy is her first book for adults, and the first trailer for an upcoming HBO adaptation of it makes that abundantly clear. “Look at my tits,” one character crows as others drop F-bombs, drink, smoke, fight each other and generally get up to other Nsfw shenanigans. Whether that’s an accurate representation of the plot or a sneak peek meant to be exceptionally shocking remains to be seen.
The three-part miniseries has certainly assembled enough strong performers to put it on any self-respecting TV snob’s radar. With Michael Gambon, Keeley Hawes, Rory Kinnear, Monica Dolan and Julia McKenzie, not to mention unproven actress Abigail Lawrie, in the cast, and Jonny Campbell sitting behind the camera, it could stand a chance of awards attention in the coming Emmy season – provided that screenwriter Sarah Phelps has captured the jet-black humor of Rowling’s novel.

"The Casual Vacancy," the mini-series based on J.K. Rowling's adult mystery, will land Stateside on HBO in April. The three-part show will premiere on BBC One on February 15.
In the meantime, there's a little teaser trailer to introduce us to the quaint British town of Pagford. It all looks veddy proper and jolly indeed, but naturally there are all sorts of grown-up, non-wizard-y secrets lurking just below the surface. However, it probably doesn't help that Dumbledore is part of the ensemble cast. Just saying. It also stars Rory Kinnear, Emily Bevan, Julia McKenzie, Keeley Hawes, Monica Dolan, and Abigail Lawrie. The adaptation was written by Sarah Phelps, who also penned scripts for "Great Expectations," "Camelot," and "EastEnders."
"The Casual Vacancy" was J.K. Rowling's first novel outside of the "Harry Potter" series. Her second, "The Cuckoo's Calling," was released under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith, although soon enough the author's real identity was revealed.

Yesterday, the first trailer for the upcoming miniseries, The Casual Vacancy, arrived to deliver a brief glimpse into the seedy underbelly of a small English village. A dark, moody teaser that began with the faces of its cast dappled with glorious summertime sunshine, things soon soured in the final few seconds. For those expecting an adult retread of Harry Potter be warned; this looks set to stray far from creator J.K. Rowling’s magical roots.
Along with the delivery of the teaser came word of the show’s UK release, which is now extended to include details of its U.S. release. It’s time to mark your calendars, because HBO has finally set the date in stone that The Casual Vacancy will make an appearance.
The much-discussed adaptation of J.K. Rowling‘s non-Potter work of the same name has been the subject of rumor, but April 29th is the date to look for.
The book release may have caused its own stir, but even for those who haven’t read it (or aren’t even Rowling fans), the premise itself is a pretty interesting one, and something that the cast should be able to spin into a very interesting miniseries. Of course, I’d watch Michael Gambon in just about anything, so I’m rather biased.
One of the best potential positives of the miniseries is that many of the problems critics have had with the book could easily be adjusted in the adaptation. Of course, that makes for a serious decision in itself,...
