Tessa was born in the Netherlands on August 3, 1978. She loved watching
television and movies from her early childhood. She wanted to be an
actress, so she could try out an other 'profession' every day, but
decided to study Psychology at Maastricht University first 'to have
something to fall back on' in case acting didn't work out. During an
exchange program, which led her to study at Western Washington
University in Bellingham, WA for a year, she took some acting classes.
One was Acting for Film from Nina Roman in
which she got to try out some behind-the-scenes jobs. By the time she
got her Masters Degree in Psychology, she had changed her mind about
wanting to become an actress. She decided to learn a job
behind-the-scenes. She entered the Media and Design Academy in Genk,
Belgium, where she studied for 5 years. Only weeks after that, she got
offered a job at Studio 100, to do camera assisting and grip for
Het huis Anubis (2006), a Dutch Television Series. After that she decided to try film and joined Ben Sombogaart and his crew to do
De storm (2009).
