The warm comedy “Ghosts” has been a hit for CBS, despite facing an at-times claustrophobic feeling over the years, perhaps spawned in part by being a show launched during the pandemic. Star Rose McIver, who plays Sam, broke down Season 4’s premiere for TheWrap and teased how this season opens up multiple new pathways for the show to explore and for new characters to enter its orbit.
The premiere of Patience
That first new pathway comes with the debut of new ghost, Patience, played by comedic actress Mary Holland (“Nightbitch”), in Thursday night’s premiere titled after her character. McIver praised Holland’s season-opening arc playing the traumatized Puritan ghost — but shared that the character had initially left her apprehensive due to an existing “Ghosts” prude.
“I had been a little concerned with potential overlap with her and Hetty as characters, Patience and Hetty being the sort of rule setters of the house,...

Meredith is a struggling mother abandoned by her family and partner after the appalling death of their newborn son. Alone in her house after separating, she becomes more and more isolated, unaware that the death of her baby has caused the birth of something far more sinister. An entity conceived from tragedy that is determined to make her relive over and over again the darkest moments of her existence and keep her family forever torn apart.
Mom is another heavy-handed look at post-partum depression wrapped up in the skin of a genre film – in this case a haunted house film. It’s something we’ve seen plenty of times before, and the filmmakers here don’t really try and stray away from cliche.

Jay and Sam really need Isaac’s help on CBS’s Ghosts season three episode five. Directed by Trent O’Donnell from a script by Kira Kalush, episode five – “The Silent Partner” – will air on Thursday, March 14, 2024 at 8:30pm Et/Pt.
Rose McIver stars as Sam, Utkarsh Ambudkar is Jay, Brandon Scott Jones is Isaac, and Richie Moriarty is Pete. Danielle Pinnock plays Alberta, Asher Grodman is Trevor, Román Zaragoza is Sasappis, Rebecca Wisocky plays Hetty, and Devan Chandler Long stars as Thorfinn.
Also, it appears we’ll be welcoming back our favorite dead hippie this season. Apparently, Flower (Sheila Carrasco) didn’t get sucked off and instead has been trapped in a well on the property for a month! Also, the ghost count was upped by one freshly deceased spirit as Carol (Caroline Aaron), Pete’s ex, choked on a donut hole and died during Sam and Jay’s annual Halloween party.

Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Irish rights to the family adventure animation film Butterfly Tale from sales company Pink Parrot. Its voice cast features Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, She-Hulk), Mena Massoud (Aladdin, Star Wars: Ahsoka) and Tristan D. Lalla (Long Shot).
Butterfly Tale tells the story of Patrick (voiced by Massoud), “a gutsy and loveable, yet inept one-winged butterfly, who stows away in a milkweed trailer in order to be part of the migration journey of a lifetime,” according to a plot description. “Along with his best friend, a goofy caterpillar named Marty, and Jennifer (Maslany), a butterfly who is afraid of heights, Patrick will become an unlikely hero.”
The movie, produced by Marie-Claude Beauchamp (The Legend of Sarila) and Emely Christians (All Creatures Big and Small), was directed by Sophie Roy (Double Dribble) from a script written by Heidi Foss (Pup Academy) and Lienne Sawatsky (The Guava Juice Show...

Season two of CBS’s popular half-hour comedy Ghosts ended on a cliffhanger that left fans speculating as to the identity of the ghost who has moved on. Sam watched (and described to Jay) from the driveway of the Woodstone Mansion Bed & Breakfast as one of the ghosts got “sucked off” – the unfortunate term used by the dearly departed to indicate one has finally left Earth and is a ghost no more.
The teaser for season three episode one, “The Owl,” gives nothing away as it shows Sam searching the house, with Jay trying to help out before remembering he can’t see ghosts. CBS’s official description of the season three premiere airing on February 15, 2024 at 8:30pm Et/Pt also doesn’t reveal any specifics:
“Sam, Jay, and the remaining ghosts unravel the mystery of which ghost passed into the afterlife. Also, Sam and Jay must relocate an...

Long Shot is directed by Jonathan Levine and re-teams him with star Seth Rogen in what is their third outing together after their collaborations on 50/50 and The Night Before. Long Shot also offers both Levine and Rogen a chance to get out of a small rut of sorts with their respective careers coming off a rather poor box office return. Specifically, Levine’s last directorial effort Snatched bombing terribly and Rogen starring in bit parts on streaming platforms such as Arizona and Father Figure. Thankfully, Long Shot is genuinely one of the best romantic comedies I’ve had the pleasure to have seen in the last decade. Incredibly witty and heartfelt with two excellent leading...

Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron‘s new romantic comedy “Long Shot” may just be what Americans need to heal the country’s political divide.
In the film, Theron plays a candidate for president who falls for her schlubby speechwriter (Rogen), an out-of-work journalist who she used to babysit when they were younger.
“I mean, I don’t know if it will be the thing that like brings our country back together, but I think it is something that everyone can enjoy and can laugh at,” Rogen said on Tuesday at the movie’s New York premiere. “I think, yeah, although there is a political backdrop I truly don’t think it is alienating to anyone and I think everyone can just enjoy it.”
Theron cracked, “Seth is wrong. This movie is going to save the world.”
Theron praised the cast and crew. “I love it. I had done some darker stuff,...
