Adrian Varela is a London-based violinist and conductor. He has recorded over 50 film and game soundtracks for all major studios.
Adrian's debut as director/writer/producer/conductor came in 2021's 'Songs of Isolation', with prior 2nd unit director credit for 'The Empire Strikes Back Uncut: Director's Cut'.
Adrian was born in Montevideo, Uruguay. By age 10 the family had relocated to Río, New York, Vancouver, and Detroit. He took up classical violin surrounded by rock, electronica, and breakdance, picking up tango roots upon returning to Uruguay. He later took up conducting, studying with Montenegro and Maazel.
He graduated from the Royal Academy of Music, London, joining the Philharmonia Orchestra in 2002, developing an integrated educational production career alongside live worldwide performance and recordings. As a composer, his music features in several short films both under his name and an alias, and has been performed by major symphony orchestras, conductors, and soloists, and broadcast by the BBC, Tokyo FM and others.
Humanism is at the heart of Adrian's work. He hammered the Berlin Wall on New Year's Eve 1989, and has produced, written and directed for a number of different humanitarian causes.
