He was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Immigrated to Canada with his parents
when he was 3 years old. His father's name is Son Van Cao. His mother's
name is Ho Thi Cao. He has one brother named Charlie. Tri grew up in
Winnipeg and has a Microbiology & Human Genetics science degree from
the University of Manitoba. Tri was introduced to the film industry by
a friend after he graduated. He enrolled into the University of
Winnipeg's theater program for acting training. He was then cast into a
film entitled "Stryker", directed by Noam Gonick. The film got invited
to the Venice International Film Festival in Italy in 2004. He was
invited to dine with the Canadian Ambassador To Italy along with his
film director and fellow cast members in celebration of the film's
premiere. This experience inspired him to pursue the film industry,
especially after his brush with film director Quentin Tarantino. He was
then invited by the film industry in Winnipeg to join the film crew of
"Population 436", starring Fred Durst (of Limp Bizkit rock band). His
initial introduction as an Assistant Director intern sparked his
interest as a film director. He ended up in Vancouver to pursue his
acting, but then figured out that he really wants to produce and direct
his own films and movies. He underwent training to become a film
producer. Tri has expressed his interest in producing films relating to
romance comedy, horror suspense, fantasy, drama, animation, and 3D. He
is the CEO and executive producer of Polygon Film Productions, Inc.
