Kayleigh McEnany, the former White House Press Secretary during the Trump administration, will take on a regular anchoring job at Fox News Channel, co-hosting the daytime program, “Outnumbered,” a move that helps cement the Fox Corporation-backed outlet’s Trump ties in the aftermath of the 2020 election.
Starting April 6, McEnany will appear regularly on the program along with Harris Faulkner, who has been a regular presence on the show since its launch in 2014, as well as Emily Compagno, a co-host, and a rotating panel of guests. Her new post was announced just a day after Fox News unveiled plans to make Lara Trump, the former president’s daughter-in-law, a contributor even as she publicly mulls a potential bid for the U.S. Senate in North Carolina.
McEnany was named a contributor to the network earlier this month.

Prof. Alan Dershowitz filed a libel suit against CNN on Tuesday, seeking $300 million for allegedly taking a quote out of context during the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.
Dershowitz defended Trump from the charge that he had abused his power by leaning on Ukraine to open an investigation of Joe Biden’s son. On Jan. 29, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, asked Dershowitz if it mattered whether there was a “quid pro quo.”
“The only thing that would make a quid pro quo unlawful is if the quo were in some way illegal,” Dershowitz argued. “If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment.”
Rep. Adam Schiff, who was leading the House impeachment case, immediately pounced on Dershowitz’s comment, saying that his position would give the president “carte blanche.

Donald Trump denied that he suffered a series of mini-strokes that prompted a surprise visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center last year.
On Tuesday he wrote on Twitter, “It never ends! Now they are trying to say that your favorite President, me, went to Walter Reed Medical Center, having suffered a series of mini-strokes. Never happened to This candidate – Fake News. Perhaps they are referring to another candidate from another Party!”
But his claim that the reports are “fake news” are a bit puzzling. The source of the renewed interest in the president’s hospital visit is Donald Trump vs. the United States, a new book out today by the New York Times‘ Michael Schmidt that says word went out that Vice President Mike Pence should be on standby “to take over the powers of the presidency temporarily if Trump had to undergo a procedure that would have required him to be anesthetized,...

CBSViacom’s layoffs this week also impacted CBS News and CBS-owned affiliates, the latest fallout to hit news media amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The layoffs were said to make up a single digit percentage of the news division — reportedly 5%, or around 75 employees. They follow recent staff cuts at outlets such as The Atlantic, BuzzFeed and Vox Media.
CBS News president Susan Zirinsky wrote in a memo on Wednesday that “no one could have foreseen the economic fallout from the pandemic coming on top of the cost savings initiatives already underway from the merger of CBS and Viacom. As a result, we have scrutinized our entire business model, our budgets, and what we learned in news gathering during the last months. We are not alone; media companies and businesses all over the country are re-organizing and developing new operating models.”

Update: Elizabeth Warren is dropping out of the presidential race, telling her staff that she was suspending her campaign.
“We didn’t reach our goal, but what we have done together, what you have done, has made a lasting difference,” she told her staff on Thursday. “It’s not the scale of the difference we wanted to make, but it matters – and the changes will have ripples for years to come.”
She did not announce an endorsement.
Her exit leaves Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden as the only major contenders for the Democratic nomination. Tulsi Gabbard, a congresswoman from Hawaii, remains in the race, but is far behind in polls and the delegate count and has failed to make debates this year.
Warren, the senator from Massachusetts, was for a time last year the front runner — rising in the polls and drawing substantial media attention for her political savvy and extensive policy proposals,...

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was criticized on the set of CNN’s “New Day,” with the show’s new co-host John Berman ripping her over a false statement she made over who authored the official White House response to the news that Donald Trump Jr. had secretly met with a Russian lawyer.
“Maybe she’s Ok with lying. There’s no question that she spread lies at this point,” said Berman. “Whether or not she was told the truth, I guess we don’t know, but she spread a lie and she is the White House press secretary and she spread a lie and allowed it to hang out there for months.”
Also on set was former Bill Clinton press secretary Joe Lockhart, who said Sanders didn’t “have any usefulness now,” and that if he were in her position, he would just resign.

When the Obama family moved out of the White House in January 2017, they didn’t go far.
Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia moved into a stately 9-bedroom home in the district’s toney Kalarama neighborhood.
“We live in the neighborhood, down the street from the White House,” Michelle tells Ellen DeGeneres in the former first lady’s first TV interview since her husband left office.
They initially rented the stately property, but decided to purchase it in May 2017, a spokesman for the couple confirmed to People.

The Obama family has officially bought a piece of D.C. property.
Former president Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama purchased the Kalorama home they’ve been renting since they left the White House in January.
In a statement obtained by People, spokesperson Kevin Lewis explained: “Given that President and Mrs. Obama will be in Washington for at least another two and a half years, it made sense for them to buy a home rather than continuing to rent property.”

Former President Barack Obama gave a keynote speech on one of his signature presidential issues, climate change, at the Seeds and Chips Global Food Innovation Summit in Milan … but there was also time for anecdotes about life after the White House.
He and wife Michelle Obama settled into their $4.3 million home in Washington, D.C., after enjoying a post-presidency vacation in Palm Springs and the British Virgin Islands.
“I’m actually enjoying being in my own house. I have been fighting Michelle to get more closet space,” Obama said. “I have been trying to figure out how the coffee maker works.

The Obama family ended their eight-year residency at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday, as the former first couple bid a temporary farewell to the nation’s capital following Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony.
Immediately following President Trump‘s oath of office on the West front of the U.S. Capitol, former President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, slipped through the building and out to its East front. On the steps, the former first couple shared embraces with former Vice President Joe Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, as well as Vice President Mike Pence and his wife Karen.

It’s moving day for the Obama family!
Well, for their stuff, anyway.
With just three days to go until President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration, movers were spotted Tuesday hauling boxes and furniture off of two big trucks and into the new D.C. digs of Barack, Michelle, Malia and Sasha Obama.
The family, of course, spent the past eight years in office in the White House, where their personal belongings in the private quarters were rarely seen by the public (except when photos of the upstairs residence were published in a spread in Architectural Digest last December). President Obama won't be getting outta Dodge after the election, instead he and the First Lady are moving just a couple miles from the White House ... into a rental crib. The Prez and Michelle Obama reportedly signed the lease on an 8,200 sq foot Tudor-style home in nearby Kalorama -- a quiet Georgetown-adjacent 'hood. Barack and Michelle are sticking around the Beltway so Sasha can finish high school. As for their new digs -- first reported...

The Obama family will be served a White House eviction notice come January, but luckily, they've already found new digs to lay down roots. President Barack Obama, wife Michelle Obama and daughters Malia and Sasha, will lease the Kalorama, D.C., mansion of Joe Lockhart and Giovanna Gray, according to Politico. The home, which is 8,200 square feet, was built in 1928 and has nine bedrooms, in addition to eight and a half baths. According to public record, Lockhart bought the mansion in 2014 for $5,295,000. White House officials, contacted by People, had no immediate comment on the story. Lockhart, the former White House...

The success of the Ted Talks video series has proven that long form presentations can be the centerpiece of a successful YouTube channel. Another outlet with similar intentions is The Moth, a channel that has spent the last few years consistently uploading content from New York's long-running storytelling series of the same name. The Moth's mission is simple: Get fascinating people to come on stage and let them go off on an engaging, winding story about a significant time in their life. In many ways, The Moth has more in common with This American Life than it does with Ted Talks, but on YouTube, it's hard not to compare it the idea-sharing series it is trying to emulate. There are an unending number of videos on The Moth's channel (108 in all), with most running over 10 minutes. The list of presenters includes entertainers, writers, and public servants. Malcolm Gladwell's recap...

He wrangled Joe Biden and tangled with John McCain. But how will the former reporter fare at the podium as Obama's new mouthpiece? Howard Kurtz reports.
To get a sense of the challenge facing Jay Carney as he steps behind the White House podium, consider this:

In the early months of the administration, a Washington Post editorial accused Joe Biden of having "foot-in-mouth disease." New York Times columnist Gail Collins called him "Washington's most compulsive talker." And who can forget when the vice president of the United States, pushing the new stimulus package, said that no matter what the administration did "there's still a 30 percent chance we're going to get it wrong" ?
